Evening all,
A non-Bar Billiards related matter but I hope you all take the time to read and assist.
During late 2017 my family lost two members, with Jersey Hospice Care providing amazing care and attention to both them and our family during the torturous time. Both my Great Aunt Betty and my Dad are sorely missed and in memory of them I have challenged myself to run around the island of Jersey on April 25th, what would have been my Dad’s birthday.
Although I have run marathons before, this challenge is in the region of 48 miles, with surfaces ranging from tarmac to gravel to muddy, rocky cliff paths. Whilst a ‘time’ would be great, I will be purely running to complete it, with whatever time I finish it in being the best I could do.
I therefore ask that, no matter the value or how well you know me, you consider supporting me, as Jersey Hospice Care have a phenomenal bunch of staff that do everything possible to make your loved ones enjoy their last moments and without donations they would not be able to do it.
You can sponsor me via the following link, directly to Hospice, thus removing any third-party fees: sponsors.jerseyhospicecare.com/sean-le-beuvant-run-around-jersey-sponsorship-page (please copy and paste as autolink doesn't appear to work)
Who are Jersey Hospice?
Their aim is that islanders are enabled to live the remainder of their lives to the full, to remain at home if they wish and to die with dignity where they choose.
They provide specialist palliative care for everyone who requires it, irrespective of cause. As a result, 46% of the patients they now care for do not have cancer.
They are a registered charity and makes no charge to patients. It is estimated that the annual cost to run the charitable services is in excess of £5.3 million (£14,600 per day). Funding for their care services is thanks to the generosity of islanders.
They provide a range of services:
Their Specialist Palliative Care team works across Hospice, in the community and in the hospital, providing support, care, advice and complex symptom management.
The In Patient Unit offers facilities for short stay admission, typically for assessment, symptom management, respite and end of life care. Care is delivered by skilled and experienced nurses, working with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, to ensure a holistic approach to the care of patients and their families.
Their Day Hospice aims to enrich patient’s lives through individual and group activities. They offer patients and their carers personalised support, whilst empowering them to manage their condition and prevent unnecessary complications.
The Community Bereavement Service provides free, confidential and person-centred support to any islander who has experienced bereavement. The team also supports patients and their families in a proactive way with the emotional impact of knowing someone is going to die.
They provide a comprehensive range of rehabilitative palliative therapies, supporting people to live as well as possible, for as long as possible. As well as physiotherapy, we offer complementary therapies that support the well-being of patients and their families and provide treatment and management for all patients experiencing Lymphoedema caused by cancer or its treatment.
Thanks all for reading.
