The defending champs are through after a tough battle v Rick and TJ. First two legs going against the break. Probably fortunate to get it to decider, in which Rick was going well but pegged. Joe with highest break of the night to win it. Good company

Myself and Brian Marten beat Paul Jobbins and Ros Appelby 2 - 0 at Roffey SSC
John Slee and Jim Balchin beat Dave Howlett and Keith Newman 2 - 0 at Roffey Cricket Club
I have also heard that Geoff Parsons and Keith Potter beat Ian Giffen and Graham Sparkman at the Stout House

Thanks all for the prompt results notifications. Presumably KT and Nipper agreed to the postponement, so just waiting on the result from this one: Phil Oakley/Chris Oakley (Swan A) v Gareth Lloyd/Lee Cable (Roffey Y) @ Stout House

Tonight's game at the Limeburners between Kevin and Martin v Steve and Rob went the way everyone expected with KT & MC winning 2 - 0. We did have our chances in the second game to take it to a third but couldn't quite convert them. All the best fellas.

The Moose's mouth, he is standing right next to me, says that he and Gareth won 2-0. In addition, they are struggling with their hearing today....

A reminder that this one is coming up:
Regarding the match picked for the Royal Oak, I'm requesting players' forbearance as conditions are not yet ideally set up for competitive league. I have however visited in the last week and the table is definitely playable (I've known a lot worse !!!) - apart from one angle where a shortened cue is needed (I will supply one for the night.)
I hope that this will not detract from the enjoyment of the competition, especially as the landlady is eager to please. We have a shortage of venues in the Horsham League and there is nowhere else I can really send you to which a) hasn't been used already or b) isn't the opponents' home base.

Regarding the match picked for the Royal Oak, I'm requesting players' forbearance as conditions are not yet ideally set up for competitive league. Well the experiment seemed to pay as there were very few moans and the players coped very well and all had their moments (several breaks of 1000+). John and Brian were impressive in their first leg but just couldn't carry it through. Table slow (not a little), but - hey - good to see competitive billiards being played in Handcross again, with lots of interest from the locals.

So we now know the Semi-Final line-up for this competition, and it will be a Clash of the Titans !
Semi-Finals, to be played at the Windmill Crawley next month: Competitors: Gareth Lloyd/Lee Cable (Roffey Club Y); can't make 21stokay for 28th Kevin Tunstall/Martin Cole (Henty White Hart); can't make 14thokay for 28th Matt Knight/Joe Oakley (Pocket Rocket A); can't make 7th okay for 28th Phil Osborne/Colin Southouse (Smugglers B). okay for 28th. 2 best-of-three matches, 8pm commencement. Players will draw lots for opponents on the actual night. Food will be arranged.
The date I had set (14th August) is not now possible as one of the participants will be on holiday. Please therefore can all parties indicate their acceptance of 21st Aug 2018, whereupon I will send the official sheet out. *
The Final will take place on 18th September as the only date convenient to both sponsors and venue.
* see later note, now a choice between 7th and 28th Aug.

Excellent evening at the Stout House for the Final of this competitive Pairs competition . Martin & I beat Matthew & Joe 3-0, nothing went our opponents way and they just couldn't get going. Thanks to Tommo for organising, the Stout House for hosting and Mark & Matt from the brewery who travelled a long way to present the trophies
