FANTASTIC LAST MINUTE OPPORTUNITIES
Hi all,
We are now counting the days until the two great Bar Billiards events this coming weekend. We cannot wait to welcome you to Northampton.
Sadly, due to unavoidable circumstances, we have lost a couple of players and so there are a couple of gaps that we'd love to fill.
Firstly, in the AEBBA 4-Pin, Beckah Thomson has had to withdraw and so a vacancy is now available in Group 8. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to fill that slot.
Second, following on from the above, there are a couple of slots now available in the first round of the Northants Open. The match versus Dawn Jordan at 11:45 now needs to be filled as well as the match versus Liz Scarrott (also at 11:45).
It would be great if you could help fill those gaps so that neither player needs to have a first round BYE.
Beckah and Leon will be removed from those fixtures today so please consider this for your Tipsters predictions.
Many thanks,
Lorin

Feast or famine update!
We are still two short for the first round of the Open. Would be a real pity for Liz and Dawn to be denied the thrill of a first round match - please let me know if there are any takers for nearly forty minutes of fun with either of these two ladies!! teehee!!
On the other hand we now have two reserves for the AEBBA 4-PIn. If you know of someone who is now doubtful for the Saturday, do let me know asap so that I can keep them on standby.
Scratch that - one has dropped out and been replaced. One reserve now place.
Many thanks,
Lorin

That was enough to put anyone off Lorin!!! (on my account of course, not Liz, who I am sure is lovely).

Last minute change to the line-up for the Northants Open (hopefully the last one!) - Phil Osborne will now be playing Hayley Tunstall in the first round.
Thanks,
Lorin

Looks like due to public transport, the earliest I can be there is 11:50, luckily I'm towards the back end of the draw so this hopefully won't be an issue?

Stolen from Northants website!! Jim Millward was 17k up and Mark Trafford chased is back with around 19k. Joe Oakley scored a fantastic 17k but Mark Brewster chased that one down with 2 breaks but one just over 16k secured it. Lorin Clough managed a table playout of just over 21k! Some fantastic breaks today which is great to see! Quarter Finals looks like this:- Gareth Lloyd v Steven Sheard Lorin Clough v Mark Brewster Michelle Baden v Matt Jones Paul Sainsbury v Mark Trafford

Gareth beat Steven after following Steven’s table play out for 18k+. Gareth did the same but achieved 19k+.
Mark Brewster eased past Lorin.
Matt Jones proved too strong for Michelle with some strong breaks.
Mark Trafford got the better of Paul Sainsbury.
Semi Finals
Gareth got an unfortunate kick and his break ended early. Mark B got the break back and played the rest of the table out. With his break next he hit maybe 4K before Gareth conceded.
Matt set Mark T about 16k to chase but despite coming through several extremely tough matches throughout the day, he just ran out of steam this time around.
Final
Both had chances in the final but it was Mark who proved too strong in the end. Mark had played consistently well throughout the event and was well deserving of his victory.
In the plate final, Nigel was unbeatable on a ‘flyer’ of a table scoring 23k+ in leg 2. Congratulations to him for his win and to Sid Ponting for his part in a great plate competition.

Another Round Two match worthy of note: K.T. played 1st leg out with 21k, Traffs came back with 22k !!! Well done to the Rooster on his second Open title having come so close to his first one on a number of occasions. A weekend Kent double with Sav winning the 4-Pin. Good to see that Notts representative Joe Foxon made it to the event, sadly the two Surrey guys didn't due to the car breaking down en route. Fazza attended the Saturday event in preference to officiating at others going on in Berkshire and N.W.London apparently. And great to see the Ladies do well: Chelle of course, plus local lasses Leanne Tyson and Mary Leeming impressing. Many thanks to the organisers. The Cock is a great venue, and the sun shone for the whole weekend. tommo Timeline updated.docs.google.com/document/d/1aufdTzNPNh2XQK4ddWBDw8SlD3g2Ind6vKS7oZHGo7s/pub

Another fun weekend of bar billiards run superbly well. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend even of some certain people did disappear Saturday night Still not sure about that funny game you play, too many balls and not enough Pegs and the tables are too wide , great for the top players who have the skills and patience to play the table out but boring for us novices who play once a year and get side tracked by too much beer Looking forward to next year and I've made a promise to myself that I will actually keep my bag company in the hotel room, probably never happen though Thanks again to everyone. Although we had are @rses kicked on sunday we were made to feel welcome Steve and me have come out for idea for the Friday before our open next year, 3pin on narrow tables, trust me, I've just had a couple of goes, the 50 holes seem so far up the table the 50 50 spilt break shot is blinking hard unless you move the break spot up to where it is in 4 pin. We'll find away to beat you somehow Dave
