To whoever decided to chock up and alter the table without consulting both teams, thankyou for making an already difficult table worse

Well, I'm afraid Mick is right. I got to the Vikings at 7:10pm and noticed that the table was now standing on 4 pieces of wood. Sliding around I would guess because nothing is fixed! I thought our table was difficult but not unplayable but I have now been proved to be wrong! Why on earth would you stand a table on 4 pieces of wood which are not fixed? The table as far as I am concerned is now worse than it has ever been with an unbelievable drift to the right. I understand that Sean and Vince with the help of Mark Trafford and Ian Gordon changed the table last Thursday. How can this happen without any discussion with the Vikings A team? Why hasn't somebody said anything to let us know what took place? I find it very difficult to understand. Good luck to the teams that are playing this Thursday....you'll need it!

After we played you at the beginning of the season and while both teams were present we got together and settled the table down so you could get the break and the one up . The following Tuesday I arrived at the Vikings to play darts and find Mick Jones on his hands and knees moving the legs . No consideration for both teams when that happens. If I Hadn't been up there for darts I wouldn't have known. Someone on your team has consistently been moving it throughout this season. Everytime we come to play there it has been moved . No consideration for our team whatsoever. I asked Mark to come and have a look at it because it was becoming a joke.you are probably unaware but the slate is actually warped. And Mick can't deny it because I caught him red handed . How is that fair to our team Alan ??

OK Sean......I understand your issue and frustration and would have no complaints if the table was actually better than before but it just isn't. I played a ball from the right hand side of the D straight down between the 10 and 20 pockets (with no side) and it knocked the white peg over on the way back. The table is now more uphill than ever before and is definitely worse. The "one up" is possible but no easier and the right hand drift on the double is ridiculous!
I had a 10k+ break and ended up with nearly 13k three weeks ago and couldn't get past a thousand last night.

Let's get one thing straight, this was one of the best tops in the league before it was re-clothed and who was it that wanted it re-clothed? Your team, and it has never been the same since. Your team kept on and on to the Vikings committee about it so Kevin had it done.it didn't even need it . I played it Thursday and it was ok , I also played it Sunday and it was ok . A little right hand drift but nothing major.

I have to agree with Sean here about the 're clothing issue. The Vikings table of before really was a decent top, had its quirks like any table but you could expect plenty of high scores and high standards of games.
The worst thing that happened to that top was fiddling with it at all and now we are left with some players refusing to go there.
And before anyone says I accept the Berinsfield table is poor compared to how it used to be too, but it's a hell of a lot more playable than the Vikings in its current state.

Unfortunately the guy who did it really made a mess of it and both teams have had to live with it ever since. I'm not looking for an argument here. The table is what it is now and we will play it as such. Let's leave it at that eh? See you in a couple of weeks.

I can understand wanting to change table if it's not right but should the match being played tomorrow go ahead ? There appears to be Is it the type of cloth that's used or major problems when tables are reclothed Vikings is not only table that has been difficult to play on we at Masons have had issues that we are still trying to correct . Is it the type of cloth being used or poor workmanship ? Not sure what funds Oxford bar billiards league has but maybe we should consider helping out to get these tables reclothed to the standard required .

Alan, whilst I symphasise with tables that have had issues following decisions to re cloth etc. I am not sure, why league funds should help to fix it. Those venues, teams, whoever have made the decision to recloth etc. There have been excellent jobs done in the Witney league on most if not all tables, covering myself there. If the workmanship isn't up to standard, surely the responsibility falls on those teams, venues to rectify the situation to make a table playable. Bar billiards isn't like pool, in pool we have a rule that any table cannot roll off more than half a ball or away team have the right to have it levelled up. In bar billiards we have 8, left, right rolls, slow, fast, uphill and downhill. We all know you can't level them and expect then to play the same that night. What is a league standard table in bar billiards? A table you can score 10k on, a table anyone can play for fun......
