The dust is still settling after Horsham Finals Night 2018 and a comprehensive report will shortly be available on our website. The night will go down in history as the one where Stuart Carruthers swept the board, winning the following: Mens Singles Winner Mens Doubles Winner (with Stephen Hopkins) Mens Highest Break, 14850 Mens Highest Score, 15460 League Division 2 (with Roffey H) Best Performance, Div.2 Team Plate (R/U with Roffey H) Masters Winner (played Sunday) Masters Highest Break and Highest Score In addition, Stuart received a special presentation of his Sussex 20k-club red polo shirt from County Secretary Jean Brackenridge. This goes nicely alongside the blue Sussex shirt acquired on his debut for the County last year. Stuart with his huge haul of trophies

Having now dealt with Stuart, attention can now be turned to how the rest of the evening went....... Windmill GG prevented a Plough League-and-Cup double, lifting the Team Cup 4-1: wins for Mick Holmwood, Graham Daniels, Tony Franks and Johnny Haigh, with Dave Vizor taking a consolationary frame for Plough. Roffey Cricket Club took the Team Plate 3-2: wins for Paul Jobbins, Graham Sparksman and Colin Southouse and, for Runners-up Roffey H, Stu Carruthers and Iain Tarrant. Iain Tarrant and Dave Howlett - both in other finals - fought out the Div.2 Singles with Iain winning 2-1; Paul Jobbins and Ros Appleby went one better than last year in the Mixed Doubles, beating three-times winners Clive and Margo Thompson 2-1; Stu Carruthers and Stephen Hopkins beat last year's champions Rob Jones and Iain Tarrant 2-0 in an all-Roffey H Mens Pairs Final; The Senior Singles has been held in abeyance in deference to Dick Cable, who sadly lost his wife Mags earlier the same day.Ros Appleby, another notable performer on the day, improved on being last year's runner-up in the Ladies Singles, beating Ding Johnson 2-0; ...And of course Stuart Carruthers won his first Mens Singles title (of many ?) when he beat Dave Howlett 2-0. Some special thank yous (I am sure Chairman Sparky and Secretary Ian will come in with the normal ones !) - To all who bought tickets for the Raffle and to those who donated prizes;
- To my lovely assistant Ding for her help in selling them, to my dear wife Margo for the folding and to the ever-reliable Sammy for calling them (he'd make an excellent town crier !) There was an excellent response considering the rather disappointing attendance.
- To the Chairman and Secretary mentioned above who coped with an amazing workload. And to others for their valued support.
- Finally to all the Competitors and scorers, for getting games underway to schedule, enabling a reasonable finish time (was back home by midnight).

Thanks Tommo for the write ups. A good nights competition which went close to schedule. I at first thought that the numbers were low but 30 people out of 55 players is pretty good considering, Congratulations to Stuart on his achievements with the Sussex 20K shirt to add with his performance on the night winning the Masters & his first Singles Title. Congratulations to Ros Appleby on her Ladies title & all the other winners & runners up.
Thanks firstly to our comp sec Tommo for all his hard work in the Masters & Finals coming up with the plan and co coordinating, a massive thanks to Sparky who worked his butt off on Sunday & Tuesday to give us 4 good tables. Thanks to Steve for manning the door, Dick Dewdney for printing the programmes, John Miller organising the food. Thanks go to our table sponsors Mark Webber, Chip Sawyer, Graham Sparksman & The Roffey CC team. Thanks also to The Roffey Club for hosting us.
The Senior Singles will be played at a later date and my deep condolences go out to Dick & Lee.

Postponed senior singles final, Derek Taylor and Dick Cable, played at Roffey Cricket Club earlier this PM.
Game 1: Dick* 5340, Derek 840. Game 2: Derek* 5940, Dick 3340. Game 3, balls back: Dick 5280, Derek 0.
I had taken the shields and giveaways along with me (thanks Ian for sorting out last week), we had a nice
little presentation for winner Dick and runner-up Derek. Thanks Lee for table preparation and doing scores.

Congratulations to Dick, and commiserations to Derek. Thank you both and Paul for getting this played and showing that Bar Billiards still has the right attitude when it counts.
