Despite the rule change to go back to all away breaks all matches were won by the Home team. I know some were Div 1 v Div 2 but not all Has any one got a view on this.

My view has always been that 5 away breaks are always best.
In Horsham you give awards for "Best Performance"and "Highest Break" also "Highest Score" on an away table: Five away beaks means it is a level playing field, as everyone has had an equal chance when playing away.
Say for instance someone puts 15k up at Roffey or the Norfolk, the following week you are up there and have been looking forward all week to having a chance of beating it. And then the draw comes out and Lloydy has the break against you on his own top. You are not going to get a look in. ::)
When the dust settles at the end of the season and the performance list is compiled, there is far more credibility if everyone has had an equal chance home and away.
The only rider I would put on this is where you have a Division within a Division, as in Brighton. Then it is advisable for ALL first breaks to be conceded to a lower division team by a Premier team. And I like the "unwritten rule of etiquette" mentioned earlier today (by Big TJ and the Colemanator), when it is not the done thing to wind it in against novice players. Sav has metioned this too in the past.

I fully & readily accept everything you have said, but you seem to have missed the point I was making that despite the away side having the breaks. all matches this week were won by the home team meaning that I think it is a good achievement by the home teams.
We have played Inter divisional as per Mid Sussex & now Brighton for 2 seasons. Mid Sussex don't give the lower division sides all breaks home & away. Those who know me know that I have always championed the lower division teams & I feel sometimes that it's a bit harsh when you get the cream, of div 1 playing the lower half of div 2 & having all the away breaks. This has come about like other Leagues around the country that have lost teams & have been forced to consolidate & play inter divisional. We now have 15 teams & play 30 league fixtures this Season.

Not really missed the point, but held back the point, Ian, for later use ! ;) The argument thrown up against all five away breaks was always that it discouraged home teams preparing a good table, as they were likely to take a thrashing. Examination of your match results from the week would then prove that the scores were still good, with some exciting evenly-balanced games, which is how it should be. And there's no damage to the home teams - who all won - so the rule change back to five away breaks would, on the face of it, be a success. Regarding the separate issue of the teams playing all-play-all, two divisions in one, maybe you should have taken a lead from Brighton and given the 'lesser' teams the break home and away when they play a 'higher section' team. Otherwise, you may just as well say, purely and simply, it's one division.

It's a tricky one due to things you quoted ie High break & score. Ranking points for masters, as we only have one masters & not a separate lower division masters. I share other leagues reasons for keeping 2 separate divisions so you still have division winners & runner up promotion & relegation. I hope we never drop to insufficient numbers to need to make it just one division. This week could have been a one off but will be interesting to see if it happens again.

Well its early days yet, and with 30 matches to play in all, there's plenty of opportunity for people to shine.
By the time the last ball is played, the best performance winners will certainly have earned their trophies.
