After 49 years of being the High Wycombe & District Bar Billiards Association Secretary our amazing Charlie Gildersleeve has decided to retire. He really doesn't want to give it up, but unfortunately ill health has caught him and Ede up and he feel's it's time to pass his Secretary hat on.
What can we say about our Charlie - I don't think there has ever been a more dedicated player or Secretary in the whole of the Bar Billiards family. He has seen our league go from over 70 teams to now just 8, but has pushed to maintain that 8 to keep our league going, and without him it probably would have packed up years ago. Up until the last couple of years Charlie & Ede have been to every Jersey tournament and I can't recall that Charlie has ever missed an AEBBA AGM.
He will not completely disappear off the scene; he is now a life president on our committee and will still come to our meetings when he is able.
On behalf of all of us in Wycombe we would like to thank Charlie for everything he has done for the game and for our league - a true legend and gentleman. We wish him & Ede good health.
From the 15th October I will take over the role of Secretary with the help of Charlie – I have a VERY VERY big hat to fill.
Thanks Dawn

Dear All
On behalf of the AEBBA we take 'our hat' off to Charlie.
He has tirelessly attended meetings at the AGM and represented High Wycombe annually.
We have always admired his total commitment and valued opinions.
He is a stalwart re our game and always involves himself with all players.
I personally am very proud to have known him as Bucks representative. The AEBBA has been so lucky and should be proud of his dedication and determination to ensure the game progresses.
Our thanks to Charlie
Chris xxx

Charlie is one of the old school with 'stickability' and a thick enough skin to survive good times and bad. He has been a brilliant ambassador for High Wycombe over the years, conducting himself with dignity, good sense and friendliness at meetings and AGMs. I have never been to an inter Area meeting that Charlie was not at and he has even now found the energy to organise the Wycombe C team. The enthusiasm and success currently being enjoyed in the Wycombe league is, in part, a testament to his hard work and they will miss him (but I bet he still won't be far away. ) Happy Retirement Charlie but I'm sure you wish you were still at the helm. Thank you from me and all the Inter Area Officers and members, you're a star! Tony
