Hi All,
Just wanted to introduce myself as taking over Inter-Area Secretary from Tony Willis as of the AGM on Sunday. Anyone wanting a copy of the minutes just message me your email address and I will get them sent over, currently in the process of exchanging information with Tony hence why I haven't sent them out yet.
Before I get into the plan for 2019 I would first just like to personally and on behalf of The Inter-Area Association thank Tony Willis and Jenny Parsons for their extremely (and usually un-recognised) hard work they have put in over the last 10 years. I feel very lucky to take over in such a position thanks to their achievements.
So onto the plans for 2019, we have done the draws for both the Main and C Team shield. There was one proposal which affected this competition which was passed unanimously meaning a B Team is not necessarily required to have a C team. Here is the actual rule (relating to C Team Shield Comp):-
The competition shall be open to all C, D and Ladies teams of five from any Association. Where any
Association who have habitually entered a C team in the C Team Shield in the past, is unable to field a B
team due to lack of numbers, then their C team may continue playing in the C Team Shield. Any existing or
new teams will be considered on relative merit and at the discretion of the Officers of the IABBA.
*** This was amended at the AGM to include the word "existing" to continually monitor teams and keep the integrity of the competition. ***
I am currently in the process of just finalising all the fixtures so hopefully have them all out by the end of the week. This year we have an increase of entries so I have had to do my best with the time we have and trying not to overload people with fixtures, but also keep everyone interested.
Other plans for the year are we need to find a Treasurer, preferably local to Northants (Oxford area would also be fine) due to the complications of a cash account currently, however this is not necessary. The plan is once a treasurer has been elected for us to look at getting the money into a bank with the necessary security to protect our association. If anyone would like to step forward get in touch, the association has agreed I will nominate someone for a vote to be elected in at the earliest convenience.
One of the biggest and most important things, is to get the One Day back on the calendar, it is imperative to help keep our funds up and continue to keep the association running, so as soon as the other competition formats have been arranged I will get straight on it. Once organised I will speak to the other officers and hopefully the Oxford League to get the weekend back to its normal date. The Inter Area association is very grateful to Oxford for allowing us to use the tables, however unfortunately this year due to a few uncertainties it was agreed there wasn't enough time to organise it for this weekend so a later date will have to be arranged.
If we can manage all of this, get all the games played on time and see the year out I personally think it will be a great achievement, so if everyone can help us out and we will try our best in return.
Here is my email address in case you don't have it colemanstephen@live.co.uk
Look forward to speaking to you all over the year and no doubt seeing you at numerous competitions.
Any suggestions my "mailbox" is always open and I will be accommodating and get back to you ASAP at the end of the day its YOUR association!
Thanks
Stephen
