Mixed to go ahead but there will be no individual trophies, all at one venue, can you all post dates you are available so we can play the semis and the final on one night at the venue, I will try and make myself available to score etc. Would like to get this played by the end of March thank you. Captains quarter finals by the end of February please, and then plan to do semi finals and final at one venue on a day to suit all.

TJ has contacted me about that too, so the Pub Manager was right but couldn't give me details, hence the confusion.
The MS Doubles match has been cancelled.

Well done to Phil Oakley in winning the Sussex Captains last night. He beat me 2-1 in the final.
Earlier in the semi finals Phil had beaten Matt Knight 2-1 and I beat Joe Oakley 2-1.
As can be seen all games went to 3 legs.

Well done to Michelle and Nigel on winning the Sussex Mixed Doubles with Lorraine and Bob finishing runners-up, in fairness that was quite incidental considering what happened during the evening...….
.....your starter for 10 is as follows, has anyone been involved in, or knows of a best of 3 match that started on a table in one venue, was level 1-1 and then the match finished on a different table in another venue??? Because that is what happened during a thrilling evening of Sussex Mixed Doubles. Come on Mark James, Roger Taylor, Neil Higgins, Chris Tupper or anyone else, surely you have been involved in one??

Er..... yes, actually...... in my case twice. The common theme was that both matches started at the (now defunct) Dolphin in East Worthing, which may in itself provide some clue as to the circumstances...... I look forward to hearing the full story of last night’s events in due course.

Well done to Nige and Chelle and to all involved for getting this completed in bizarre circumstances, sorry couldn`t be there due to having rearranged inter league game.

Well done Nige and Chelle. Many thanks to CKRBL for welcoming us in after the most extraordinary behaviour I have ever seen from a pub landlord. 'Lost it' doesn't even begin to cover it!

The common theme was that both matches started at the (now defunct) Dolphin in East Worthing, which may in itself provide some clue as to the circumstances...... I look forward to hearing the full story of last night’s events in due course. So we had merrily played 4 legs without interruption or an inkling of what was to come. As the coin was about to be tossed for the decider in the second semi-final, a chap appears who says the quiz is about to start...Joe asked if anyone could play, he says yes but you'll have to move all your stuff off the pool table, as people want to play pool. (No-one had approached us before then). We ask very politely if we can leave it on the table as it is close to the bar billiards table and there would not be much room to play pool and bar billiards, especially as there was a quite a few of us in attendance. He is not having any of it, Bob then explained that is was a Sussex Competition Final but with tempers getting a little frayed matters take a turn for the worse when he orders Bob to leave. After a brief pause he then screams actually you can all leave, a gross overreaction to the situation. Basically he was saying it was his pub and he could do what he wanted, he probably can and so reasoning with him was pointless. He claimed it was to do with Bob's attitude, which is his call but quite why the rest of us were ejected is a mystery. He then took great delight in telling the quizzers that he had chucked us all out. As Ros says we were warmly welcomed at Keymer (after some gentle persuasion from her) where we partook in their quiz and Irish Lottery, they were as it swelled their coffers greatly. So Hall and Hall beat Brackenridge and Knight 2-0 at Watermill Appleby and Osborne drew 1-1 with Baden and Senior at Watermill with Baden and Senior winning the decider at CKRBL before going on to defeat Hall and Hall 2-0 in the final at CKRBL Thanks to Tony for running the competition, but what a bizarre night

Shame this happened and what strange behaviour by a landlord. Well done all involved in sorting the situation.

What an embarrassing situation, and well articulated by Silent. Methinks another team in Mid Sussex will be on the move (sadly through no fault of their own) as I can't see the table lasting there too much longer. Bar billiards players obviously too gentlemanly and ladylike for a place known as Worlds End. But - hey ! - hopefully it's not the End of the World.
