Tonight the Brighton rankings sub commitee met to discuss the Brighton ranking system for qualification to the masters for 2007.
There will be 2 main elements to now count - Brighton League and Brighton Competitions. Inter League and Sussex Comps have been removed along with the Masters and Off the Spot which was agreed at the AGM
Brighton League - Prem/ Div 1 - 2 points for a win with the break, 2.5 points for a win against the break. Div 2 - 1 point for a win with the break, 1.25 points for a win against the break. Score bonusses will still apply - with the break start at 0.1 for 5,000 and 0.1 for every 3,000 thereafter, against the break 0.1 for 4.500 and 0.1 for every 2,500 thereafter. Team Knockout games will be 2 points a win
Brighton Competitions - 4 competitons to now count with the following points break down Brighton Singles 10 pts winner, 7pts r-up, 4pts sf, 2 pts qf Ladies singles 4pts winner, 2 r-up, 1 pt sf Doubles - 7 pts winner, 4pts r-up, 2pts sf, 1pt qf Mixed Doubles - 4pts winner, 2 r-up, 1 pt. sf Lower division (only to count for lower division list) 5 pts winner, 3pts r-up, 2pts sf, 1 pt qf
High break/score - 2pts for men, 1 pt for ladies.
We shall see how it goes for this year and will discuss further changes at the beginning of next year if we think necessary.
I would also be interested if anyone has any comments on the new system.

Quick comment from an outside observer (or nosey parker if you prefer ;D)
Completely logical.
Brighton players' performances at Interleague then to count for Sussex RPs and Sussex Masters, as it's the next level up.
The game spreads from the grass roots level upwards.
If Mid Sussex were ever to stage a Masters, that's the way they would do it (one would hope). League and Competition performances only to count, with Interleague going towards Sussex RPs only.
Well done.
