The Bridge "Supersub" Nigel still has the Highest Away Break score of 11410 of course........ together with the highest individual score of the season (19990 - not in the same match as the highest away break) and an average of 14643! :o
Luckily (for the rest of us), he has only been needed 3 times so far this season......!! ;D ;)

The main congratulations should go to the main 5 who played week in week out- Marc, Jean, Alan, Kev and Lee. All are placed in the top 10 of the rankings showing what a hard team they were to beat this year. And there is still time to beat my high break...

Absolutely right Nigel, they have all played well and have been the best team by far this season. :) We will be back next year and will hopefully give them a run for their money........!! ;D

Thanks for kind words guys , we have had a great year but as Clayton found this year it's always harder to defend as everyone is gunning for you.We look forward to the challenge as every year the league seems to be getting stronger.I heard today that the Royal Oak in Wivesfield could be interested in entering a team next year,i shall follow that up soon. If we could get an extra team it would eliminate the problem of a bye which i'm sure will please Sir Jock ;) ;D. Roll on Finals Night.

Ha h ah ah ah a
Yes that would be nice!!! No hard feelings at all my friend, the timing of our bye's this season have really not helped us, but I am not complaining (much) it was always tough to win the league, and it is getting stronger and stronger. Second bottom last season, second top this season, not to bad, if I say so myself.
Massive congratulations to you all. :P ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think that the combination of the "bye"weeks, Bonfire Night falling on a Monday and Bank Holidays (the downside of playing in a Monday night League :() have, at times, made the season feel slightly disjointed...... however it's the same for all of the teams.
My only suggestion for next season would be that it would be nice if the League Cup (off the spot) competition involved games against ALL of the teams, not just SOME of them. :(
It was very bizarre that some teams ended up playing 5 games and others 6 with the final positions being calculated on average results...... surely it would be better for either everybody to play everybody, or run it as 2 seperate divisions with the winners of each playing each other in a Final at a neutral venue?
Just a thought for next year...... ;)

Dave
The off the spot is taken more as a season filler unfortunately due to lack of teams.Last year we had only 8 teams and it was run in 2 divisions of 4 with a final for the winners. We have thought of playing a third league on a neutral table, but this more of a headache for results controller. If we could get 3 more teams,we could push the main season to 22 weeks and with bank holidays etc we would no longer any fillers. So if there are any Mid Sussex teams looking to play on a monday please push them in our direction,as a big league now playing in div 1 of interleague they should be knocking our door down to get in :D :D :D :D :D

Quite a few Mid-Sussex players already play for teams in the Lewes League, in my experience this season the standards are very similar......!! ;)
A number of the other likely candidates also play in Horsham / Redhill Leagues and have family commitments which would make an extra night out (especially 3 nights running) unlikely. ???
But I will send an e-mail around to all the contacts I have and will let you know if I get any positive responses.
Looking at the number of players who have signed on for some teams (but not / hardly played this season) already in the League, possibly some of those venues would consider running a second team next season..... although I realise it takes some work to organise this and possibly they wouldn't be the strongest of teams?
As you say, it would be nice to get a few more teams in to avoid the "bye" weeks and give a balanced look to the League.
Personally, I enjoyed the off the spot competition....... I hadn't played the game in that format before and I found it made me think more about the shots I was playing....... some good ;) ....... others not so good! ??? :'(

Just a thought for next year...... ;) Yes mate, the Off The Spot Cup was played as a Two division set up last year, with the top team in each playing off for the title, which we won against the Laughing Fish I think or was it The Firemans, I can't remember now! Only downside to this was due to apparent table restrictions on finals night we had to play our final a week before at a neutral venue which kinda took a little shine off it. Still we retained it again this year even with the average match scores added for the bye's, again not quite right as the average player score for the byes wasn't added to the players lists, seemed a bit strange to add averages for the match wins but not include scores for the players.
