I'm sure there will be a full and fair resume of the game at the Brewery Tap tonight by the home team captain but I wanted to get in first, to congratulate Gareth Lloyd on some excellent play for about 18 minutes and to commiserate with him for one one seconds deafness.
I played him in the first game and broke off with a magnificent 200!! :o
Gareth immediately got the balls back and showed that he was in imperious form. He got hold of what was later shown to be a tricky top and cruised through the thousands. He was on 19980 when for whatever reason he did not react to the call of one up from his captain and scorer until the balls were both heading for the break four times in a row. :o
I was thus back on the break with little time to go. I reached about 1K before again coming off - Gareth was quickly to the table but only had time for 500
He had played magnificently but I was the winner
What can you do - Bad luck Gareth

Brewery Tap A 4 - 1 Stadium A
Brewery Tap flattered by the scoreline as they went into self destruct mode, but hold on to keep league title hope alive
Gareth Lloyd 590 - 1,060* Alan Messer Nigel Senior 7,790 - 1,500* Colin Monysett Richard Wooton 10,190 - 1,350* Sheena Wood Marcus Chipman 4,800 - 3,570* Brian Muggeridge Chris Reeves 10,260 - 630* Mick Pope
Game 1 - Amazingly Gareth looking on for about 22k+ after an early miss by Alan put the break down 4 times when on 19,980 with 2 minutes left. It was a lapse of concentration for Gareth who did not hear the scorer and just played a normal break shot. Alan struggled to finish the game off but did so with a break of 700. 0-1
Game 2 - I also struggled when I got the break back first time and missed my second split shot by hitting it thick. After 13 greulling minutes I got the balls back to finally finish off the game - and a relief it was not to go 2-0 down. 1-1
Game 3 - Sheena did not punish Richard for his mistakes, and should have been a lot closer then 9k down by the end. 2-1
Game 4 - Marc saved Gareth a sleepless night with a win over Brian Muggeridge. However, Marc managed to miscue on the break shot, missing the red and sinking the white down the 30. This gave Brian a golden chance but he failed to capitilise and somehow the Tap were 3-1 up.
Game 5 - Mick Pope seemed to lose interest in the final game and Chris Reeves, fresh from his Oxford Open win, won comfortably even though he found the table hard at the end of the evening. This gave the Tap a 4-1 win.
Probably one of our poorest performances and yet a 4-1 win. i will be interested to see how the Three horseshoes fared against the Dyke tonight

Lloydy ! Lloydy !
All I can think of to explain this momentary lapse is that your mind must have wandered on to the girl-on-girl activity out in the pool room ! ;D

Montreal 3 - 2 Brewery Tap B
M Barsby 3720 - 910 S King G Mechan 2320 - 4130 I Collins D Robins 1060 - 2580 C Pemberton S Burns 1410 - 1090 S Cold? B Mechan 2000 - 990 P Reay
I nearly threw it away for us as couldn't get my break on my home top, but the lads got me out of jail with some scrappy wins. Good nite but the scores were nothing to shout about!
Would be interesting when all the scores are in to have an update on league tables as not many games left now.

Since saturday, what a terrible week of billiards! Brighton were beat by Littlehampton(+1) in Inter League on Sunday, Rick Dewdney stuffed 11k past me in the Horsham League and we (Roffee SSC) lost 5-0 on Tuesday and then I put em down 4 times on 20k at the Tap last night! Thankfully I could rely on my team mates to spare further blushes, cheers chaps!!
DOH!!!

Heard on the grapevine Three Horseshoes beat the Dyke B 4-1, so still very close at the top, but it is really a two horse race now.

The grapevine is correct, 4-1 it was
Kt 10190 T.Molloy 3960 I.Lelliott 6660 M.Scott 190 S.Mepham 3310 T.Race 9390 G.Jukes 9290 M.Hall 2480 R.Dewdney 7090 T.Coughlan 4950
Terry opened up with his score and at the second attempt, kt got the balls back to win. Ian struggled to find his form next and had about 3 goes at the break to win. Racey broke down very quickly and Stu had a golden chance to win the match 3-0 but came off on 3k. Terry then finished off to pull one back. Geoff opened up with nearly 9k to take the match In the last, Terry had two breaks to get his score, Ricky finished off with 7k for a good result.
