Due to information being supplied incorrectly to myself the rankings have been amended, and available on above link.

Hi Tony, can I ask how the Worthing rankings are worked out, because I do not think I have ever been ranked at number 24 since the rankings in Worthing began? Is this list correct?

From reading davejones' post immediately above, one might draw the conclusion that the calculation of the Worthing Rankings is in some way as secret as a Masonic ritual. Surely this is not so?
Along with dipper, I too would like to know how they are compiled. Specifically, I think that all Worthing league players should know exactly which bar biliards competitions/events do count towards the rankings, and which ones don't, together with the relative weight given to each. This information should be in the public domain.
Perhaps strangely, given that I was the original custodian of a ranking system in the Worthing league, I don't personally have any great interest in my own position on the list, as I feel that the rankings are primarily just a bit of fun. But qualification for the Worthing Masters is something which I do set as a goal for each season. And since this is achieved by occupying a high place in the rankings, I'd like to know the scoring system, so I can work out what I need to do.
And I'm sure I can't be the only one to whom that applies.
Is it possible for the system to be published either here, or on one of the new (excellent) Worthing league websites?

Hi Mark/ Roger there is no secret in the new ranking system. I thought they had been published, either in the Black Peg or posted on the Worthing pro-board site. Obviously I was mistaken.
They are as follows -
League matches all divisions
Away games - Win against the break 3pts Away games - Win with the break 2pts Home game - Win against the break 2pts Home game - Win with the break 1.5 pts
Cup matches - 2pts per win all divisions Shield matches - 1pt per win all divisions
Competitions
Mens singles - Winner 10pts, Runner up 7pts, SF 4pts, QF 2pts Lower Div singles same as above
Mens Doubles - Winners 6pts, R-Up 3pts, SF 1.5 pts, QF 1pt Lower Div Doubles Same as above
Ladies Doubles - Winners 4pts, R-Up 2pts , SF 1pt Mixed Doubles same as above

Roger Worthing rankings now only cover League, Cup and Competition games within the Worthing League.
Inter- League and Sussex Comps go towards the Sussex Masters.

Can a 'per person' breakdown of the total points scored be made available?

I am in the process of putting the details of the ranking system on to the wdbbl.co.uk site.

On the www.wdbbl.co.uk the Worthing rankings are now published in their entirity from the information supplied by Dave Jones, am working on getting a break down of all factions so you can see how you gained your points. In the coming season with Daves assistance I want to update rankings monthly so you can see what is happening and also queery them promptly.

No doubt that is going to happen if you are a Worthing regular Dave, and prehaps we might even squeeze into the Lewes rankings if they have them, if not prehaps need to suggest a masters and ranking system, might even sponsor a trophy.

There is a Ranking system in Lewes Tony, but it is based purely on League Wins & Average rather than a points system. I think that there used to be a Masters Tournament until a couple of years ago....... but I don't know of any plans to introduce it again. The AGM is due sometime fairly soon, so it is something I will suggest.

Before you say it...yes I am up late watching the womens beach volleyball I actually have the Lewes Masters trophy so would be happy to hand it back if the tournament ever takes off again.
