Schooner C 2 Swan B 3
Game One. Roger Taylor opened with just over 2k, Tj got back in and scrambled to just 3570. Roger got the break back and settled into a very steady table play out on the 50 holes. 3570-5320 0-1.
Game Two. Bill Kerr off at 500 with a double kiss on the 50 hole. Brian couldn`t master the table and pegs kept getting in the way. Bill added another 1.5k and then another couple of thou. 5690-300 1-1.
Game Three. Matt Squire certainly looked the most comfortable on the table and settled to make a good 4.5k opener. Steve put in just over a thou. before Matt made sure. 1360-6210 1-2.
Game Four. Terry Molloy opened with 3.5 although again not looking wholly comfortable on the top. Phil was going along quite nicely before changing his mind on a shot, he tried the split and was off. Terry then controlled the game as both struggled to clear the balls. 4580-1980 2-2.
Game Five. Doug Mahy started with around 2k, Rick did not get break back, Doug increased his lead to 4k, Rick off early when on the break and Doug added another 1k. Rick did get going towards the end but again never looked comfortable. 3810-5150 2-3.
Good start to the season for the Swan, and a deserved win although both sides had their chances. Company as usual good and banter a plenty. Food was again excellent with a beef stew/ potatoes, hot dogs, cheesy pastry and pork pie. Well done to the Swan, and hopefully we should be moving downstairs onto the new table as of now.

Marquis of Granby `B` 2 Three Horseshoes `A` 3 Every time we have played Neil`s team, it`s never been more than 3-2, including the draw 2 years ago. Normally they take a lead on us but not last night. Game 1 - BB Reaper on first and never looked in any trouble continuing his great form this week. 0 - 1 Game 2 - Nick Brown was off early giving Mal a good chance but he played his second break to thin and soon came off. Nick then made a steady break to take the point. 1 - 1 Game 3 - Step up Worthing debutante Chris Lawman. Northants loss, definitely our gain. Chris opened with 5k and added another 2k to put us back into lead. 1 - 2 Game 4 - Barney was off quite early giving Stu a chance but he also played a break shot too thin coming off on his next shot. Barney then compiled a good break to level the match yet again. 2 - 2 Game 5 - Nice table and i took advantage, opening with 9k and then adding another 5k 2 - 3 Great venue & landlord, nice bowl of curried pasties & chips to follow. I think the ex Gardeners teams will be there ;) Three Horseshoes `B` 2 Marquis of Granby `A` 3
Lady H & Adam Squires winning for the home team . Sandra, Lorraine & Jean for the visitors.

Swan A 2 – 3 Stadium
Game 1 – Dave France v Ian Lelliott. Ian missed both balls on his first split, Dave made no mistake with a 10k-and-touch at his first visit. 1-0
Game 2 – John Hayward v Martin Smith. John opened with 3k, Martin retrieved the balls immediately but broke down 500 behind John. A period of play at the top of the table ensued, it was Martin who got the balls back first, and he held on to win. 1-1
Game 3 – Chris Scott v Geoff Jukes. Geoff kicked off with 2k approx, and added a second break of a few hundred, but the game remained in the balance until the latter stages, when he was able to retrieve the break for a third time. 1-2
Game 4 – Vern Blake v Grant Tully. After the opening exchanges, this became another game where the next player to get the break back was going to win, on this occasion it was Vern. 2-2
Game 5 – Terry Denyer v Mark James. Having had the benefit of observing what preceded, your reporter was able to open with just under 7k, but nevertheless a first missed split afforded Terry a chance. He succeeded in moving the awkward ball by the 100 hole, but failed to score off it. It proved to be his only chance. 2-3
As is customary in these match reports, a culinary footnote – the sandwiches at the Swan were up to their usual excellent standard, as fresh as ever, and were thoroughly enjoyed by the travelling contingent.

Further to Sir KT's message about Three Horsehsoes B result.
Three Horseshoes B Marquis A C Lucas 1690 2110 S Race A Squires 4020 340 S Wood D Millard 2820 4190 L Hall H Tunstall 3490 1350 C Richards D Jones 4410 7430 (7270 bk) J Brackenridge 2 3 Total Score 16430 15420 Average per man 3286 3084
Interesting match. First 3 games were scrappy with both Chris Lucas and Dave Millard a little tense and overhitting the balls. Adam leaving the one up short a couple of times. Hayley played the fourth with an assured style. Jean broke off with 7270 break leaving myself without enough time to catch her. The ladies have a high break to beat!

Dave, last time I looked it was awkward for the Marquis A team to have an average per man on the bar billiard table. Sure they haven`t been under the knife since I last saw them. Even if you are somewhat confused by sexuality of the opposition, you can always do a double check within your own sqaud.

With all the Premier/First Division results now in t can be seen that every game went to the fifth before being decided hopefully that is a foresight to how tight the league is once again going to be. Still awaiting the 2nd div results and reports. So come on if you were involved get posting. Because the Premier/1st started this week it does not mean we are not interested in the other results. The Worthing website is being updated regularly and you will see the Masters details from yesterday are already on, and there are match reports for each team under their headed page. I am going to follow others on the forum and post forthcoming fitures on here at least a couple of weks in advance and update resutsas they filter through.
