Stadium 3 -2 Schooner C
Game 1 - Terry Molloy kicked off with 9480, giving Martin Smith no chance. 0-1
Game 2 - Grant Tully did his usual, 10k & touch, to beat Arthur Brewster. 1-1
Game 3 - A decisive moment. Ian Lelliott v Terry Race, Terry got to 6k+ but pegged them. Ian seized his chance to take the game at first visit. 2-1
Game 4 - Mark James v Bill Kerr. 6900 opener from Mark had not made the game safe, and Bill got his opportunity after a couple of table-top exchanges. He needed 7k in just about even time, it would have been close but he broke down at 4k. 3-1
Game 5 - Tony Jenner kicked off with 5k v Geoff Jukes, Geoff had a couple of chances with the break but couldnt take them. 3-2

Schooner B 4 - 1 Marine View A :) :) :)
A second successive win for the Schooner side this time turning over the table toppers (with a little help from some lucky shots).
Hem Brewster 1490 - 1750 Steve Oliver Bit of a scrappy game this. Hem found the going tough at the beginning and Steve built up a lead of over 1K before Hem started to find the table. But it was too late by then. 0 - 1 :(
Bob Thomas 7190 - 2440 John Hayes Bob kicked off with a break of 4930 and were all thinking he was on for the highest break in the lower div so far this season but left a ball short on a 50 pot. A couple more breaks saw him to 7K. Highest Lower Div score this season so far (I think). 1 - 1 :)
Jay Shurry 1500 - 1380 Bepo A good win for Jay. With a few lucky shots to help. (He will say they were skill. ;D) 2 - 1 :)
Dave Anscombe 2860 - 1130 Dave Catchpole A semi controlled game ( :-[) by yours truly. Score helped along with a fluky red into the 200 at the beginning of the game, this showed how things were going to progress. Dave C. was unlucky in a number of shots. 3 - 1 :)
The Marine View team did not have a 5th player so the game was given to us. 4 - 1 :)
A great evening with Gina once again putting on a great spread of sandwiches, sausages and other goodies. This was topped off with sausage casserole. yum yum ;D ;D ;D

Duke of Wellie 3 -2 Marquis of Granby A
Games went with break until the decider, where both captains played for the win, Nigel coming through for the Duke Chris Tupper 5,800 - 12,430* Nick Brown Henry Brooks 13,120* - 1,550 Tony Burgess john Perrin 4,570 - 4,770* Gary Ridley Chris Reeves 6,720* - 1,470 Paul Barnett Nigel Senior 9,630 - 5,860* Neil Higgins
Game 1 - Good game, Nick went in with 7,500, Tupps back with 5,800 but missed a 50-30 effort after leaving the one up red a bit close to the 50. Nick cleared with another 5k.
Game 2 - Henry offered Tony a few chances, but eventually made 13k in total and Tony could never get going
Game 3 - John Perrin's "101 ways to lose a game of bar billiards" is now available in all good bookshops now. Tonight he showed us number 69, where you get the break back with the bar about to go and the scores level. Then you use two whites despite the red still being in the tray and get called a foul shot, giving your opponent the break back with the bar now dropped. Although Gary got a kick on the one up the damage was done and the attempt at getting the last two whites down the 200 was out of John's reach this week.
Game 4 - Chris made a 5k starter, and retreived the break back. He pegged the 7k he made but was safe due to the time gone on the clock.
Game 5 - Neil made a deliberate 4,500 before I got a chance, but I got the balls back and made 8,500 to seal the Dukes victory

In my defense, I think I should point out that I was not the only person that thought that the bar had dropped already.
Anyway, it's a stupid rule having to use the red for the break shot. Especially being as you don't have to use it the rest of the time. :D

Three Horseshoes `A` 2 Windmill 3
Great result for the Windmill, poor performance from the Shoes following on from last week.
Kt 10,040 v Edge 2,270 - Two breaks from myself to seal the first point. 1 - 0
Mal 4,140 v Alan 9,380 - Mal off on his first one up. Alan capitalised with a steady 8k. 1 - 1
Stu 2,790 v Charlie 3,260 - Plenty of chances a begging, Charlie took the honours. 1 - 2
Lolly 6,410 v Mick 2,470 - Chris missed his first split. Mick got them back but also missed early, Chris made a decent 5k and took the leg. 2 - 2
BB Reaper 1,830 v Gina 7,440 - Gina opened with 4k, Kev got them back but also went behind on the one up. Gina added a bit more for the win. 2 - 3
Well done Windmill for taking their chances. I`m glad we have a break now with Jersey next week. Time to clear our heads and focus on the tough fixtures ahead.

Further to PeteM's initial report. Here is the scorecard.
Swan A Three Horseshoes B D France 8250 0 D Millard V Blake 4780 1670 C Lucas C Scott 4310 3150 H Tunstall R Brewer 4540 5200 D Jones T Denyer 2990 6790 A Squires 3 2 Total Score 24870 16810 Average per man 4974 3362
Dave M was unlucky that he didn't get the breaks or the luck before hitting the black peg towards the end. Vern always in control in the second game. Hayley also unlucky and not far behind in the third. I got a 4.5k break towards the end to leave Ron needing 900 when the bar dropped. Adam never looked like losing the fifth.

Marquis of Granby `A` 0 - 5 Swan `B`
Brian Richards beat Sandra Race. Matthew Squire beat Lorraine Hall. Roger Taylor beat Jean Brackenridge with a 10,000 plus opening break. Doug Mahy beat Sheena Wood. Phil Oakley beat Chris Richards.
Excellent result for the Swan `Bs`as this fixture usually finishes with a very close 3-2.
