The Schooners nightmare season continues with another 4-1 reversal at the hands of the Swan A.
Dave France 15400 1370 Rick Cunningham Rick leaves both up on first one up, suprisingly Dave off at just over 2k, but he is first to retrieve the balls and made sure with an 8k break. 1-0
Chris Scott 4340 1340 Bill Kerr Chris opens with 2k, but Bill just cannot clear top of table whatever he tries. 2-0
John Hayward 5910 5340 Terry Molloy Terry opens with 3k, John keeps snapping at his heels and takes the frame with a very goodk break at thge end. 3-0
Vern Blake 2610 6090 Tony Jenner Vern opens with 2k, Tony replies with same. Vern then going well at 2k puts break down 4 times. Tony knocks in 3k to make sure. 3-1
Terry Denyer 5140 4400 Steve Aylmore Simalar pattern Steve off with 2k. Terry builds lead of 1.5k and there it stays all game. 4-1
Thanks for a good evening, played in good humour, and prehaps after next weeks break we will wake up and start our season.

Duke of Wellington 3 - 2 Swan B
Henry Brooks 2,610 - 6,230* Barry Holt Chris Tupper 12,210* - 4,140 Matt Squire Pete Brown 2,060 - 7,610* Brian Richards Chris Reeves 8,030* - 7,440 Trevor Foard nigel Senior 9,550 - 3,880* Roger Taylor
Game 1 - Barry started ok but pegged his 2k opener, H got them back but missed his first split. H got the balls back again but missed another split thin forcing him off only 2k in front. Barry made no mistake on his next chance and made 6k to win
Game 2 - Tupps off with a solid 7k, Matt had time to challenge but was off on around 3k. Tupps made the game safe and ended up on 12k.
Game 3 - Pete and Brian really struggled. About 4 goes at the break each, only Brian managed a deent break on his last visit, the 7k score a bit flattering.
Game 4 - Game of the night. Chris off with 3k after leaving a 50-10 short. Trevor looks set to seal the match for the Swan getting up to 7,440 before leaving chris a very awkward ball. Chris managed to clear them and made the a 4,500 break to win by 500.
Game 5 - Roger missed his first split thin but got another chance and made a 3,500 lead before giving Nigel another chance. Nigel took the chance with a 9k break to win the match.
A cracking match, with chances on both sides and a great game by Trevor - not bad for a reserve!

A first win Three Horseshoes B. With 2 players not available Barry Squires and one of my sons who is a non player had to turn out.
Three Horseshoes B Marquis B D Millard 3720 5570 G Ridley A Squires (5880 bk) 6390 0 P Barnett A Jones 600 1930 T Burgess D Jones 3870 3610 N Higgins B Squires 5620 0 N Brown 3 2 Total Score 20200 11110 Average per man 4040 2222
First game, Gary broke off with over 2k but Dave didn't have much luck spinning balls but did manage to get the break back. Gary did enough to win the first game. 0-1.
Adam broke off with 5880 in his opening break Barney pushed the balls around the table quite hard at times. 1-1
Aiden then went against Tony Burgess who always had the game under control. 1-2
The two captains then did battle Neil needing the 200 hole at the end to win we both had 2 goes at the last ball with mine going into the 100 hole. 2-2
Barry against Nick. Nick came off cheaply, Barry struggling after ten minutes with his neck had done enough to warrant the win. 3-2.
Well done team and will be strengthened by the return of Chris and Hayley

Think anybody could give us a pointer at the moment. Trying to emulate last seasons run, but this time continuous losses not wins.

Stadium 2 -3 Three Horseshoes A
match played 22/12/08
This rearranged match saw Stadium slip to their first defeat of the season, and completes the first half of the league season.
Game 1 - Martin Smith v Kevin Tunstall. To the astonishment of all, KT's first break amounted to 120 (yes, one hundred and twenty). Martin had two visits but didn't retrieve the balls, KT did on his 3rd, and proceeded to make the anticipated 10k and touch. 0-1
Game 2 - Geoff Jukes v Chris Lawman. An 11,500 opener from Geoff secured the leg, he added a further 3k. 1-1
Game 3 - Ian Lelliott v Jim Greensted. Jim was off at 1500, then had a second break of 4k. Ian had a chance with the balls back and 5k+ neeeded, but he broke down half way there. 1-2
Game 4 - Grant Tully 8880 break against Stuart Mepham did not leave enough time, 2-2
Game 5 - Mark James v Kevin Hall. A very scrappy game indeed, Kevin held a lead of 1000 for most of the game as the balls were chased around the table. Kevin potted some vital 50s near the end to win by 3k to 2k. Final result 2-3
A very Merry Christmas to everybody out there in BB land, see you all in 2009.
