Horns Lodge 1 Sportsman 4
First match played on the new top at the Lodge......
Dave Guildford 2,680 - 4,900 Big TJ Tony off to a solid start and left the balls awkward for Dave as well. Tony got ball back for a useful 3k, Dave hit the Black Peg but then rallied well getting a couple of 1k+ breaks towards the end. 0-1 ;D
Steve Smith 1,610 - 1,460 DA-DM Both lost their opening breaks and with the balls left in nasty places it was always going to be a close & low-scoring game, Steve eventually getting the 100 hole at the 2nd attempt to level the match. 1-1 :'(
Ben Proctor 720 - 2,210 Sir Trevor Trevor opened up with just under 1k, followed up by some interesting shots by both players. Trevor hit a lucky 200 shot but did enough to win comfortably in the end. 1-2 ;D ;D
Nick Pitcher BP - 2,030 Lady Ros Nick, playing only his 2nd competitive match, was off early and Ros played some good shots to get the break back only to leave both balls short. Nick had chances but found quite a few pegs while Ros kept her scores for a good win. 1-3 ;D ;D ;D
Mick Palmer 490 - 4,700 BB Warrior I opened up with just under 2k and added a few more before getting the break back again to secure the game. 1-4 ;D ;D ;D ;D
Unfortunately, the pizza oven broke down, which meant that we had to make do with a superb spread of Breaded Mushrooms, Whitebait, Cheesy Chips, Garlic Bread and Cheese & Pickle sarnies....... what a hardship!! 8-) ;D ;D
New top is a great improvement on the old table, much quicker and pretty level..... now all they have to do is find the missing white ball! :o ;D
