Marquis B 2 Windmill 3
Played at the Henty tonight.....
Paul Barnett 450 - 1,940* Gina Sherratt Gina unfortunately lost her 5.5k opener when the left hand roll made her miss a ball up the middle, balls stayed at the back for a while then Barney pegged and gave Gina the break back near the end. 0-1 ::) ;)
Tony Burgess 870* - 11,110 Dave Ingram Tony off early and I managed to get the balls back straight away, touching up on about 8.5k. A couple more visits after that for each of us. 0-2 ;D
Gary Ridley 7,500 - 2,960* Charlie Cooper Charlie off at 2.8k but held the lead for a while, Gary then knocked in 2k followed up by a decisive 4k+ to pull one back. 1-2 :(
Neil Higgins 2,310* - 5,500 Mick Pope Both started with about 1k each with the balls staying at the back for a while. Mick got the balls back a couple of times with the 2nd time being crucial for 2.5k near the end. 1-3 ;D
Nick Brown 6,680 - 2,160 Alan Messer With the match result decided, both played to the crowd..... Nick pegged his opener, Alan missed the split. Nick was first to get the balls back and took 3k lead, Alan got the break back and missed the split - again! Nick got the break back a couple more times to make sure. 2-3 ;)
An enjoyable evening and many thanks to the Henty who were great hosts....... not only did they arrange food (sandwiches, chips, sausages & nuggets) but they even paid for the games! 8-) ;D ;D

Duke of Wellie 4 - 1 Marine View @ 3 Horseshoes
Highest score of the night was Mr Reeves with 5k. I was the numpty who gave the 1 away to a certain Mr Senior Senior because I am a numpty (although I did get a kick on a split which didn't help). But mainly I'm a numpty!
Found the table quite tough once you got up the back, but the break went beautifully - I only had one go at the split though and that was when I got the kick!

Marineview A 0 - 5 Stadium
Relatively untroubled progress for the higher-division team.
The most notable incident occurred right at the end of the first game. Leading Bepo by 6k to 1500, Grant Tully played at a ball behind the left hand 30 hole. He hit the shot much too hard, and the object ball (the red, no less) rolled inexorably back towards the 200 hole.
While it was in transit towards this destination, the bar fell. The ball caught most, but not all, of the hole, the black peg rocked, but remained upright, and 400 points (and avoidance of disaster) was the outcome.
Thanks to the landlord and staff at the Marquis who, despite not knowing until the arrival of the teams that there was a match on, managed to rustle up some very welcome sausage and chips.

On paper, a very competitive match in the offing.
On the night, one way traffic i`m afraid.
Schooner `C` 1 Three Horseshoes `A` 4
Steve A. 2370 v Kt 10890 Tj 2700 v Stu 3820 Rick C. 3440 v Bigjimsilverfox 5050 So with the result in the bag, the last two were played in a more relaxed atmosphere. Bill 1970 v Mrs Reaper 4370 Terry 2670 v Lolly 7840
