A good evening at the Stadium with the windmill playing the Marine View B, thanks to the venue for laying on food and thanks to the Marine View for the effort of turning up with three players due to illness.
We drew the match out as though 5 a side giving walk overs as necessary.
Arthur Brewster 2710 James Holey* 660 Terry Molloy* w/o No Player Bill Kerr w/o No Player* Rick Cunningham* 1450 Mark Senior 7570 Tony Jenner* 12150 Richard Soagers* 690
4-1 to the Windmill, but well done to the Marine View for playing the game in the correct spirit and acknowlodging the fact that they were up against from the start.
Well played to Mark who kept up his great recent run of form.

Table played very well and respected my opponent from the second div, but having touched up on 6k, then again on another 2k, and a finishing effort of 4k. If all opponents were to have the frame of mind that Richard did about watching somebody play well and trying to learn from it we may see improvement from those learning and in future get a shock when they go of with a break thats sets up a challange.
Very enjoyable evening and we had a a couple of Gand T`s to finish to toast my old dad who unfortunately lost the battle against the dreaded C at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon, at leats he is now a trest and thankfully to say he suffered very little pain.

Sorry to hear your news about your dad, Tony, my best wishes to you and your family.
Well done on a good score last night - it is not always easy playing weaker opponents, and well done to my dad also, who seems a bit unstoppable at the moment.
We lost to the Horseshoes 3-2 last night, unbelievably (or inevitably) our loose cannons of regg3y and Stu Mepham were drawn out to play the decider. Stu coming out on top despite trying to give Mal a heart attack near the end with his rather attacking style of play when 5k up ansd safe. I am sure KT will give all the details later.

Sorry to hear of your sad loss Tony and sincere condolences to you and your family from Viv and myself.
Close thing at the Elms last night with the Henty actually going 2-1 up with 2 to play. Wins for Dave Anscombe, Gary Iles and Steve Hurley from the Dolphin and wins for Ken Williams and team mate. Sorry I don't know his name, but he played well to beat Colin Green. Final result 3-2 to the Dolphin. Close shave though.

Stadium A 2 – 3 Gardeners B @ Three Horseshoes
The played-as-drawn format meant that the 2 Stadium players for whom this is their Brighton league home table came out 4th & 5th, and the match was lost by then, with your reporter being the chief culprit.
Game 1 – Paul Barnett with the break v Grant Tully. Barneybear commenced proceedings with a painstaking 6k, which always seemed enough to beat Grant, who could not retrieve the break until too late.
Game 2 – Mark James v Neil Higgins. Mark was off at 500, then it became one of those games which is dreadful to watch, but much worse to play in, the more so when one is the player who ultimately loses. Neither player could get the break back at all until Neil did so in the last 2 minutes, he overhauled his 800 deficit to make it 2-0 for his team.
Game 3 – Nick Brown opened with a slow 7700 v Martin Smith, and the match was now very much on the line. Martin gave chase bravely, but even the most optimistic Stadium observers conceded that it was going to be very tight for time. In the event he broke down on 4500, so it proved academic.
Game 4 – Ian Lelliott brought on Tony Lewis as sub v Tony Burgess. Lewis kicked off with 5k, Burgess responded with 3k but lost them, missing a ball behind the 10 hole. Burgess made a further 2k which he kept, then Lewis added another 1k.
Game 5 – Gary Ridley broke with 2 or 3k, but Geoff Jukes won the game with ease at first visit, never looking like missing.
Condolences also from me to bigtj on his loss.

Sorry to hear of your loss tony.
Gardeners A 4 Stadium B 1
Sandra lost to Mick Sheena beat Edge (last ball game) Caroline beat Colin Jean beat Alan (last ball game) Lorraine beat Charlie
Think the West Tarring table got the better of all 10 players as the highest score of the night was less than 2500 and all the games could have gone either way. Still a great win for the Gardeners

Duke of Wellie `A` 2 Three Horseshoes `A` 3
Revenge for the Shoes after the Wellie knocked them out last year. Strange how the draw came out.
Game 1 - Chris out first against me, I broke off with 6k then left one short of the hundred hole, managed to keep them. Chris got them back and was going well on 3k when he thinned one up the top and took a peg out. I finished off with another 6k. 0 - 1
Game 2 - Nigel opened with about 10k giving Mal no chance 1 - 1
Game 3 - Tupps against BB Reaper. Kev raced off to a 4k lead, Tupps couldn`t get the break back til late, by then Reaper had a 6k lead. 1 - 2
Game 4 - Pete Brown v BB Warrior, very scrappy game in which Pete kept his nose in front by about 1k. Dave got the balls back in plenty of time but unfortunately for those with weak hearts, he came off too soon. 2 - 2
Game 5 - There could only be one draw for these two showmen (i think that`s the right word). Regg3y v Stu Mepham, not for the faint hearted this one :-X Stu off early, Regg3y off early, then a ray of sunlight turned up in the guise of Stu`s form of old (not seen that for a while). He made a steady 5k break, and managed to avoid the black peg as well to bring the result home for the Shoes :) ;)

West Tarring1-4 Swan `B`, at the Gardeners.
Phil Oakley won the first. Brian Richards won the second. Matthew Squire won the third. Roger Taylor won the fourth. Doug Mahy lost the fifth to an ever improving Chris Cox who had the highest score of the night with 8,000 plus.
Excellent food Bacon sandwiches and Roast spuds.

Thank you all for your kind remarks and thoughts indeed a difficult time even if to a degree you are expecting it. Sorry for delay in answering, but have spent a few days at mums to help her through this period.
Special thanks to those who have been involved in the games since, for their support and understanding.
