Stadium 2 - 3 Three Horseshoes
Another title contender bites the dust. Although not yet mathematically impossible, this home defeat effectively ends Stadium's hopes of retaining their crown.
Game 1 - Martin Smith v Kevin Tunstall. KT hit his first split thin, a couple of shots later he was off, having opened with only 750. Martin got the break back, but made only 800. It was to be his only visit of the game, as KT returned to run it out with a break of 16,860. 0-1
Game 2 - Grant Tully pegged his first split shot v Kevin Hall, and the game became a top-of-the-table affair, very scrappy. Grant had a further break, adding 1500 approx, and then a third , leaving him 4k in front. Kevin finally got the balls back, and it was a close call whether he would have had time to catch up, but it became academic when he broke down at 2k. 1-1
Game 3 - Mal Spier's opening 3k approx v Geoff Jukes left an awkward ball. Geoff moved it, but he failed to get the break back, Mal did and made enough to secure the game at his second attempt. Geoff subsequently returned for a 5k break. 1-2
Game 4 - Ian Lelliott v Stuart Mepham. Ian kicked off with 6600, Stuart did have one chance at the break but was unable to capitalise, Ian cruised home. 2-2
Game 5 - Rick Dewdney, having only just arrived from work, made an impeccable 10k plus v Mark James, leaving your correspondent with insufficient time to catch it. Rick would later add a further 6k break. 2-3
This result means that Three Horsehoes have done the double over the Stadium, and overtaken them in the process. Next week Stadium travel to league-leaders Duke of Wellington, the role of spoiler is all they can hope for now.

Windmill A 1-4 Elms B Good night for us on the table that you lose your knuckles on when getting the balls out of the tray Nice to see Chris Scott finally win one in a generally low scoring contest Wins for Terry Denyer,Chris,Dave France and Vern Blake.Gina Sherrat was the only victor for the Windmill against an out of luck Ron Brewer
On the other table I think it was 3-2 to the Swan B

Dolphin 0 - 5 Duke of Wellington
Duke stay top with 5-0 on a very good Dolphin top.
Game 1 - Richard Wooton went off with 10k against Denise Mahy 0-9
Game 2 - Tupps made Caroline pay for her early miss and won by around 6k 0-1
Game 3 - I beat Jean setting off with 10k to make the score 3-0
Game 4 - Chris Reeves responded to an early miss by Chris Richards with a 10k break 0-4
Game 5 - Chubbster beat Sheena Wood comfortably to complete the white-wash
Three teams still with a chance of the title. We entertain the Stadium next week and the Horseshoes entertain he Swan. The Stadium must win to keep their hopes alive - yes they took a blow on Thursday but I don't think they have bitten the dust quite yet.
The Swan also have a crucial part to play as they play us and the Horseshoes in their last two games. If the Duke win their games against the Stadium and the Swan they will be champions

Windmill C 2 Swan B 3
Game 1. Brian Richards v Marcus Chipman. Brian went off with a reasonable 5k+. When Marcus eventually got the break back it was all to late. 6100 - 3320. 1-0 Swan.
Game 2. Bill Kerr v Mat Squire. Bill off with less than 1k. Bill first to get break back and made sure. 7940 - 00 1-1
Game 3. Roger Taylor v Rick Cunningham. Roger on break opened with 3k. Rick had his chances getting the break back, but couldn`t capitilise, 9230 -1590. 2-1 Swan.
Game 4. Steve Aylmore v Doug Mahr, excellent game from Steve kept the game alive. 10210 - 790. 2-2.
Game 5. Tony Jenner v Barry Holt. Barry opened with just under 10k, I only managed a few and Barry got the break back to run the table out with another 6k+. 16210 - 620. 3-2 Swan.
Great evening of bar billiards capped by Barrys` win in the decider, certainly the Swan are still going to have a big say in the league winners.
Well done to the Warren who secured the 1st div title last night.

Another good top at Tarring where the Warren Club beat the home side 3-2.
All 5 games went with the break - Brown (6000?), me (10300) and Higgins (8500) won for the Warren. Steve Hurley and Colin Green for the Tarring Club.
An excellent evening enlivened by the arrival late-on of Bob Treagus. ;)
Sarnies of the season so far!
