West Tarring B 1 Windmill C 4
A highly entertaining evening with great banter and enjoyable sandwiches (especially the egg, but whoh betide those travelling to Bournemouth with me.)
Game one. Rick C with the break and of very cheaply, Bob T chased the balls around ( not a pleasent site) to but to no avail. Rick kept battling although never mastering the table ran out winner 2660 - 1380 1-0 Windmill.
Game two. Colin Gs` break against Bill K. Colin started confidently but couldn`t find the split, off with around 1K. Bill got break back, too the lead just before he too was off. Rest of game Bill controlled ,but again the table was the winner. 2800 - 2080 2-0
Game three. Steve A with the break and at last it looked as though some body had got hold of the table, SAteve opening with over 2K. Dave A evevtually got the break back after steve had added another 2K. 6 minutes left and Dave started off three times down one up split, but got out of position breaking down on 1.5K. Again Dave got the braek back with around 3 minutes left. Just couldn`t maintain position and Steve ran out winner 4170 - 2770 in what was the best game of the evening. 3-0.
Game four. Steve H on the break against yours truely. Steve broke down on less than 1K. TJ got the break back, but looked uncomfortable battling to just over 1K. TJ first to retrieve break and knocked in 4K to settle game, had time to get break back as bar due and another 1K. 6540 - 1020. Windmill 4-0.
Windmill no 5th playet due to illness, so result 1-4, thanks for a good evening, and certainly table well playable if you thought about it.
Understand the Warren beat the Windmill A 3-2, no doubt some confirmation when Barney arrives home after celebrations in Potugal. Well done Spurs and Newcastle.

Duke of Wellington 2 – 3 Stadium
The tension of the title race seemed to play a major part in this match, as top-of-the-table Duke of Wellington let slip a 2-0 lead to stumble to their first home defeat of the season, against the outgoing champions Stadium.
Every player in the match had several opportunities to win, and there were pegs aplenty throughout.
Game 1 – Martin Smith opened with 1900 v Richard Wooton. It was some while before Richard retrieved the break, eventually he would wrap up the win with a 9k score. 1-0
Game 2 – Nigel Senior pegged his break v Tony Lewis, but Tony was never able to get the balls back in the game, Nigel finished on 11k. 2-0
Game 3 – The battle of the “old gits” saw Ian Lelliott & Chris Tupper in action. Ian’s second attempt at the break proved decisive, he won with 7k. 2-1
Game 4 – Chris Reeves v Mark James. Your correspondent was not expecting a chance, but the Oxon Open champion had an off-night. His opening break was pegged, and so too was a second break when chasing 4k towards the end. 2-2
Game 5 – The decider saw Grant Tully take on the Chubbster. Grant kicked off with a solid 3k+, and Glenn appeared immediately under pressure, despite getting the break back immediately, he too pegged his opening effort. Grant added a further break, and in the end won more comfortably than might have been anticipated. 2-3
This result, coupled with the Three Horseshoes victory over the Swan, leaves the title in the balance even at this late stage. The final round of fixtures takes place in a fortnight’s time, it could be quite exciting.

The Elms B may yet have a say in the outcome of the title. We have to play at the Stadium in the last game and I understand that the missing game against the Duke possibly could be arranged for the 15/3
