Betteshanger Club drew 3-3 with the Two Sawyers, but progressed 14,410-12,720 on aggregate. The Two Sawyers led after the Singles 2-1 thanks to Alan Smith (4,080) and Stuart Richardson (4,600), with John Addley (6,560) scoring well for the Deal side. The first doubles saw Betteshanger draw level as Neville Potts & Sampson (2,070) won, but Sawyers struck again as Gary Clarke & Smith (1,780) regained the lead. In the final leg decider Betteshanger needed to win by 70 points, which they did via Potts & Addley (1,740) narrowly against Smith & Richard Cousens.
The other semi-final saw the defending champions, Plough & Harrow B from Bridge, win 5-1 against the Royal Oak. Kevin Kay beat Mark Graves 4,880-3,630, and Stan Brocklebank edged Steve Lake 3,580-3,000, before John Fullager (4,450) completed the sweep of the singles for Plough. Brocklebank & Kay (2,110) ensured the match victory, Fullager & Brocklebank (2,210) also won, with Graves & Nigel Scott (1,940) taking the last leg for the Oak.
In the Plate competition semi-finals, the Plough & Harrow A from Tilmanstone drew 3-3 with the Magnet A, but won 12,910-10,650 on aggregate. Ann Keen (3,420) won, and Karen Keen (3,670) beat Mike Callanan after her opponent black-pegged on the last shot when needing the 200 which proved crucial. John Higgens (4,360) reduced the deficit for the Magnet, before Lin Callanan & Mike Callanan won 1,630-1,520 in the first doubles to level. Karen Keen & Ann Keen (1,610) won, and Mike Callanan & Higgens (1,650) took the last leg to leave the match at 3-3.
The Plough & Harrow B from Tilmanstone are through to the Plate final after a 4-2 victory against the Magnet B. Gerald Gilbert (1,220) and Harry Pearson (2,210) won for the Plough, before a Magnet success for Tanya Philpott (1,080). Pearson & Ron Beer (1,580) gained the first doubles, but a win for Shirley Cowdrey & Philpott (1,460) gave the Magnet a glimmer of hope. Gilbert & Pearson (1,460) took the last leg and the match.
