Last chance Ladies & Gents. You have until next weekend to get your entries into me. Still waiting to hear if the Gardiners Arms have a B side or if the Olde Coach House have a side at all, same applies to the Elms.
Hopefully the last two will have teams, otherwise their tables will not be used in Worthing :(

Went last night Jean. At first, Claire said she didn`t have a B side, then later on she rang me and said it was the Warren club side going there which surprised both Dave and I ???

I`ve had their entry form which has the Warren club on it, but Neil Higgins has just texted me from Cyprus to confirm they will be at the Gardiners.

Kev - you will always get surprises from the Warren Club!
The rest of the team have been badgering Higgins for a while to play from a pub and not the Warren Club, particularly now that none of us have any association with Norwich Union apart from a couple of us drawing pensions from them.
A couple of weeks ago we played the home leg of the Watney Mann semi there (as the Warren Club was shut on a Monday night - as it always is). We asked the landlord there and then if he had a second team and when he said no we went for it.
25 years at the Warren Club, but no tears from any of us.

Hi Paul Can`t say i blame you. Since i started playing way back in the early seventies, my home table has always been a pub, never once in a club. The atmosphere is so different.

It would be tommo's choice too, Sir KT. ;) I've just worked out that I've completed: 33 seasons in Horsham League 23 seasons in Mid Sussex League 18 seasons in Billingshurst League 3 seasons in Crawley League, and 9 seasons in Redhill League.
79 out of those 86 have been spent based at one of 17 different pubs. I've only ever played from three clubs, two of which are where I play from now.
There aren't any decent bar billiards pubs anywhere near to me - the Windmill Crawley was the last, and I spent 17 seasons there.
If the Limes could be transported from Merstham to Crawley I'd be in there every night. :P

The Dun Horse is miles away. And I'd heard it already had something spilt on the table. Sparky's team have left the Bridge House to join a club (SWCC).
The Bridge House had been a promising venue, but when margo and I looked in for a practise, the table was hoisted up on its side against a wall. Not exactly conducive to bar billiards. I was pleasantly surprised at the conditions in the Norfolk, the table works much better in the other bar, the lights were too garish where it was before. Could be a good practise venue so long as one remembers it has 'dead' side-cushions.
One day I'll be lucky and a table will be put back in either the Gate or the Mill House in Ifield, and I'll be able to see my days out there. 8-)
