Entertaining evening at the Elms, where the Windmill played the Gardeners. Really think we as a league should inform landlords when they have neutral games on their tables, as the host at the Elms was suitably embarrassed that he didn`t know and was therefore unable to cater for us. I know that prehaps the team from that venue could inform, but in this day and age, especially in the summer some teams do not attend the home venue.
Onto the match, where the Windmill won 4 - 1.
J.Brackenbridge 1300 R.Cunningham* 5970 L.Hall* 2080 S.Aylmore 2140 D.Mahr 980 A.Brewster* 5130 S.Wood* 2320 T.Jenner 1980 C.Richards** 1000 B.Kerr* 6560
Excellent match with the table proving somewhat tricky, although with adaption playable. Good to see Lorraine playing in the Worthing league, and bad luck as she led throughout only to be beaten by Steve getting the 200 with the last ball.
No score card at the venue so hope Dave will take this as the official result.

There should have been a scorecard at the venue.
One was issued with the last newsletter.

A very competitive match in the Nobby Clark last night at West Tarring club (postponed from last week). The table proved to be very testing, absolutely knowone from either team managed to get the break, the white ball coming a mile inside. Scores as follows -
WINDMILL A THREE HORSESHOES A
E.Butler 1240 BB Reaper 0 G.Sherratt 0 Mark James 2510 A.Messer 0 Ian Lelliott 3780 M.Pope 0 Mal Spier 2710 C.Cooper 0 Kt 8160
1 - 4
All of the zero scores were Black pegs, Reaper started the trend needing the 200 to win only to fell the pin at the first attempt. All the others went behind the black with the games lost, but because the cushions threw very square, they all misjudged it.
Gina, Alan & Mick all led their opponents for much of their games but Mark, Ian & Mal all came back to win with crucial breaks for a 3-1 victory. With no pressure on the last game, i tried the break the wrong way round only to find it went as sweet as a nut. Good evening, nice company and an excellent game of Killer afterwards, which Reaper won :)

Sorry guys about the table. Seems it is going from bad to worse. I have had Tarratts look at it but to no avail.
Best thing is to sling it in the bin. :)

Cant understand why table has deteriorated as last season at times it held good scores, can only suggest with the stays put on the legs that prehaps this has caused some warping.

Swan 5- 0 Romans
Easy match for the Swan with the Romans putting up no resistance at the Dolphin on a good table. Winners - Brian Richards, Matthew Squire, Phil Oakley, Roger Taylor and Doug Mahy.
