Anyone know what's happening at Handcross Social Club ?
Margo and I dropped by on the 10th June hoping for a quick game before the Mid Sussex AGM, but it was all boarded up with a note that it would be re-opening on 20th June.
We dropped by again last night hoping for some games, and the padlock was on again - but this time the note had gone.
It is not on, being members of a club that we can't go to and use the facilities: The Zeds have therefore already lined up an alternative venue for Wednesday nights in the Mid Sussex league.
There is also a team who play in the Horsham League, though, and perhaps it should give some consideration to its position.

I heard that the club closed because they forgot to renew their licence :-[ and that it would re-open in due course but I would expect that to take some time.
The other team are aware of the problem and are looking at alternatives too.

Thank you for that, Sparky.
What you say would seem to tie in with the new notice pinned up which is a copy of a new license application. Due to be heard in mid-July, which will mean that the club will have been shut for five weeks' minimum. >:(

Yes Tommo it is not good news for the Club or it's members and especially for the home BB teams.
The rumour of it's demise may have been greatly exaggerated (my version of the quote) but wonder just how much longer it can continue :-/

Yes, we looked in tonight and were able to play the table for the whole evening.
The Club is expected to be open properly (every night) as from around 24th July.
Meanwhile a temporary licence has been granted to enable it to open each Friday and Saturday from now on - times as per Ian's post - until such time as the official licence takes over.

I have been informed today by Sim that the Club is now open from tonight normal hours. The official licence should be with the club monday so it is usual service from now on in.
