Duke of Wellington make it 7 out of 7 with win at Gardeners A
Gardeners A 0 – 5 Duke of Wellington
Game 1 - Sheena Wood v Chris Tupper. Tupps break and he looked good, rolling in around 7k to open. Sheena never threatened that score 0-1
Game 2 – Lorraine Hall v Nigel Senior. Lorraine started well but came off on 2k. Nigel got the break at the 3rd attempt but made no mistake and got to 8k to secure the win 0-2.
Game 3 – Jean Brackenridge v Chris Reeves. Reevesey set off looking for the highest away break on the good top. He got to 8k in 8min but hit a fat split and came off. Jean could not make any inroads, and Chris’ win was safe. 0-3
Game 4 – Sandra Race v Dave Reeves. Sandra started well and got over 1,000 on the board and held on to that lead for a fair portion of the game. Super sub Dave eventually clawed back the defecit and ran out the winner with around 3k to 2k.
Game 5 – Chris Richards v Pete Brown. Remind me not to leave Pete till last! Shall we say he was a little bit inebriated and he took around 10 minutes to start the game as he decided what hand to use, and what hand to put his ‘cueing glove’ on. He then took 45 seconds to sink his first break shot. He was soon off but he and Chris got involved in a bit of a ding dong battle with balls at the back, Pete eventually winning through with around 1,100 to 800. 0-5. I hope Pete reads this as he may not remember whether he actually won last night, as his final words to me when he got out of the car were “Did I win?”. But that might depend on whether he made it into his house ok!
Good venue and good table. After the break the Duke have 3 big games, at home to the Stadium , then home and away to the Windmill.

3 Horseshoes `A` 3 Gardners `B` 2
The rot has stopped at last. Three defeats in a row has severely dented our title retention ambitions, but with the top teams now having to play each other we have a chance to close the gap :)
Kt 9640 Barney 4070 - Two breaks each 1 - 0 Mal 9880 Nick 1410 - Mal opened with over 9k 2 - 0 Reaper 2110 Neil 4790 - Couple of breaks each in this one as well 2 - 1 Ricky 6920 Gary 2630 - Rick off early but secured the win with a 5k break 3 - 1 Chocie 2360 Tony 3650 - I`m sure they were trying to repeat last years` draw ??? 3 - 2

Stadium A 2 Windmill C 3
Great game saw the Windmill maintain there 100% start to the season and remain at least 10pts clear of the first division with two games togo to half way.
Game One : Chris Elliott with the break against Martin Smith. Chris looking really good opened with 10860, Martin got the braek back and was going well until pushing one shot too hard, would have probably ended on about 9k if playing table out. 6130 - 11310 0-1. Chris having secured his first ever 10k game in a league match on Wed, following up with the near on 11k break, wonderful achievement.
Game Two. Grant Tulley against Steve Aylmore. Grant started off as though he wasn`t going to miss, but did break down at around 4k. Steve had his chances having two goes at the break, but Grant ran out winner 9200 - 3710 1 - 1.
Game Three : Unbeaten Terry Molloy against Ian Lelliott. Terry off after mishitting the split at around 2k. Ian on the braek but he too broke down at around 2k. Both players had there chances, but Terry did enough to run out winner 3350 - 9200 1 - 2
Game Four. Battle of the Tonys, with Mr Lewes on the break coming off his 17k game on the table the week before, and having knocked in over 15k the last twice he played TJ. To my amazement and relief Tony L hit the one up thin and went behind the 50 hole, both tried to retrieve break, with me gaining first opportunity. Played with abit more confidencea and put myself 6k to the good, Tony L got the balls back too late and although pushing along was always out of reach. 4650 - 7830 1 - 3.
Game Five : After consultation with Bill, decided to give Rick Cunningham the break against Geoff Jukes. Rick off cheaply, and Geoff playing very well to ensure win with one visit. 11180-2100 2 - 3.
Very sporting evening ending with sandwiches and roast tatties, thanks for the praise from the Stadium, who no doubt felt they hadn`t performed to their true merits when given a chance.

Dolphin 2 - 3 Stadium B
All games went with break. There were some interesting pairings in this match but unfortunately I don't have the scores to hand.
Game 1 Bob Thomas v Alan Messer. Alan scored about 1500 before coming off. Both players pushed the balls about. Alan had another go at the break and set up a good lead. Bob got the break back but didn't take his chance. Alan got the break back and played out for 10K+. 0-1
Game 2 Steve Hurley v Gina Sherratt Steve came off early but Gina struggled to get the break back. Steve got a second go and finished it off. 1-1
Game 3 Gary Iles v Micky Pope. Micky came off cheaply but Gary was unable to find his usual game Micky got the break back and settled it with a 4K+ break. 1-2
Game 4 Dave Anscombe v Edge Butler Two old adversaries met again. Dave went of with the break and seemed to be going well until a lapse in concentration made him miss the break. Edge pushed the balls around but couldn't get the break back. Dave got the break back to finish with 5K. 2-2
Game 5 Colin Green v Charlie Cooper Two players who have played for years met in this decider and the break proved decisive. Charlie had a good opening break and followed that up with another. Colin got the break back but couldn't take his chance. Charlie eventually finished with 7K+ 2-3
Sorry if I have got some of details above wrong but I am doing this from memory on a Sunday evening. :-[
Good food and the usual good banter between the teams. :) :)
