The Duke stay unbeaten with big win at home to the Stadium tonight
Duke of Wellinton 3 - 2 Stadium
Nigel Senior 8,340 - 3,520* Ian Lelliott
Chris Tupper 5,510* - 5,250 Mark James
John Perrin 3,440 - 6,100* Martin Smith
Chris Reeves 5,350* - 4,050 Geoff Jukes
Pete Brown 1,320 - 2,930* Tony Lewis
Game 1 - Ian pegged is opening 2k but retreived the balls back only to peg another 1k. Nigel got the balls back and although had one whipped split out of the 100 hole and a couple of one ups that barely made the hole he made 8k and touched. 1-0
Game 2 - The one up was proving a problem now as the Duke table played a little trickier than normal. There were three crucial one ups left short in the game between Tupps and Mark James. Both had opening breaks of 500 or so, but Tupps settled down to make 4,500 before leaving the one up short. Mark got the break back and got to within 2k of Tupps before leaving the one up short also. Tupps missed a straightforward shot leaving Mark a final chance but he almost unbelievably again left the one up short, 200 in front with the bar dropped. Tupps got about 200 in front but left Mark a (second) final chance, he potted one leaving him needing the 200 hole to win.....he missed...and Tupps got the 100. 2-0
Game 3 - After that nerve jangler Martin broke off with 5k and held that lead for much of the game. John made a nice 3k break right at the end. 2-1
Game 4 - Chris played very well, not missing a split until he miscued the one up leaving it short on 5k. Geoff got the balls back, and I think it fair to say was all over the place but still made 3k. This left Chris 2k in front and he stayed on for about 3 minutes at the back of the table, to win the game - an art he has obviously picked up from Tupps! 3-1
Game 5 - Both Pete and Tony struggled and both had chances to win. Tony did in the end to at least make the scoreline more respectable for the Stadium 3-2
For the Duke a big double header next against the Windmill.
