Defending League champs Roffey Z have made what seems to becoming the anual move and now are playing out of the Stout House under Stout House Z
1st League match last night sorry no scores but we started with a HOME game v Stout Hose A and I`m pleased to say we won 4-1 with Vernon winning the opener, Denise Wills taking the second before Andy Finn snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Richard Plaw and myself making winning starts, mine only due to Johnny Miller not feeling to good!! so I stepped in , not playing as many games in Billingshurst this season due to other commitments :( But will pop up now and then.

Regular underachievers Dun Horse have not moved anywhere for another year and have succesfully played their first league match of the season against Roffey SSC with no lasting injuries to either team!
Micky Fairs 1000 Stuart Hope 3700 Dave Howlett 4330 Grant Hope 1600 Pete Fisher 2940 Scott Hope 3830 Lee Cable 7140 Colin Bolton 1620 Dick Cable 6810 Dave Simmons 1900
So a moderately successful 3-2 loss this week, notable by Stuart's win with Micky losing a couple of potentially frame winning breaks. Still, at least he got to watch the football!!

Welcome to the forum, Dave.
Glad to see your team have not 'dun playing' since leaving the Foresters.
Remember the 1997/98 Mixed Doubles final ? ;D

Dun Horse home to Stout House Z
First up, sub Keith dusted off his dodgy hip against Denise. Close-ish game with Denise taking it, Keith had his chances though. Grant played third game second. Richard got going and Grant didn't. Dave played second game third in what seems to be a regular draw with Dorsal. Dave followed Grant's example and failed to pot much! Unfortunately for us, Andy got his head down taking the third game in a row. Scott and Rick had a cat and mouse sort of game with the lead changing hands with every visit. Rick came off after the bar had dropped, leaving Scott without enough balls. Vernon started the last frame a bit shaky but Stuart failed to capitalise and eventually Vernon managed to get his head down too. Disappointing loss for the Dun after a moderately good start last week. Well played Stout House, improving on last week.

Oh well......Next week..........

Dun Horse home to Stout House A
Following losses of 3-2 and 5-0, linear progression dictates that we should have lost 7-0 this week! Time to stop the rot???
Scott went on first brimming with confidence and looking like Robbie Williams on X-Factor. Came off 20 mins later having lost to Adam. Doh! Stuart on second, got ahead of newcomer Peter and managed to stay there. One all! Grant on third, played a very scrappy game with Sam. Managed to get a break going at the right time to take the third frame. Colin was fourth up against James. James started well, Colin just didn't quite get going. James took the frame to level the match. Dave and Gordon played a very close deciding frame, taking it right to the last ball. Gordon took a shot at the 200 to win but left it on the edge of the hole. Dave took the frame on his first attempt at the 100. 3-2 to the Dun, that's an improvement!
Dun Horse 3 Stout House 2
Scott Hope 2770 Adam Kuzimski 3950 Stuart Hope 3640 Peter Hartley 2390 Grant Hope 2390 Sam Short 1120 Colin Bolton 1970 James Norman 3550 Dave Simmons 3440 Gordon Carver 3190
Impressed by Peter and Sam. Gordon says they have only been playing the game for about 3 months. Both have a good eye for the ball. Lets hope they stay with the game.

Stout House Z v Alfold SC
Vernon Sparkes 760 Robin Burgess 4070 Denise Wills 3320 Trevor Godcher 550 Rick Langridge 1980 Malcolm Greening 1060 Richard Plaw 2520 Gary Fishburn 3130 Andy Finn 3040 Cliff Greening 1140
A 3-2 win for the Zeds on a very tricky home table. Vern played like he had never picked up a cue before, constantly hitting the balls too soft, including the break shot twice and had a black peg ??? made it easy for Robin. Den struggled at the start but got her head down later. Trevor never got going. Rick and Malcolm had a scrappy game, Rick never got the break back. Gary started with a 1600 break, Richard was 3000 down before getting the break back, only got 2000+ missing a 50/100 split and then the bar dropped :-X Well played Gary. And Andy wouldn`t stop talking while at the table :)
A very enjoyable night with lots of banter and some great food,

Southwater A's 3-2 Southwater B's
Good night with a few drinks flowing.
The A's took control taking the first three legs with generally comfortable wins.
Tom Darkins and I (deputising) played legs 4 and 5 winning both legs to pull back to 3-2. I played Keith hitting 2.5k with Keith struggling the whole match.
The top got progressively inconsistant through each game let alone the match, with only Paul Phillips (?-8100) and Tom Darkins (6200ish) getting respectable scores.
I may well retire from the Billingsurst league from today holding a 100% record!

Dun Horse away to Alfold SC
Captain Colin down with a late dose of the lurgy and unable to get Keith thawed out in time so only fielding 4 players this week. Grant on first, played quite well but unable to get enough balls down to beat Cliff. Dave on second, unable to play a lousy shot. Everything remotely aimed for just dropped. Robin, unable to get going, just had to watch. Scott on third, never looked like losing but squandered a few big scoring chances. Keith just not getting a break going. Stuart up fourth. Started steady but didn’t quite keep the momentum going. Garry on the other hand didn’t start so well but got a couple of frame winning breaks going towards the end. Unfortunately with only 4 players, 2-2 equates to a 3-2 loss but an acceptable result for the Dun.
Alfold SC 3 Dun Horse 2
Cliff Greening 4650 Grant Hope 2010 Robin Burgess 810 Dave Simmons 9480 Keith Hodges 370 Scott Hope 4380 Garry Fishburn 4880 Stuart Hope 1840 Trevor Goacher W/O
An enjoyable evening with good food and a fair bit of banter. Alfold SC still getting used to their new top.

Dun Horse home to Limeburners Cricketers
Chip started well in the first game, Stuart was trailing by 4000 before he got a break going. Managed to rattle in over 3000 and going well before an unfortunate miscue cost him the break. Chip went back on and played the table out to win the first. Colin and Bill had a scrappy second game with most of the play at the top of the table. Colin couldn’t get going, Bill did enough to secure the second. Les started the third a little shaky. After a couple of visits, Scott managed to get his head down to take the game quite comfortably. Ken looked to be taking the third game with a comfortable lead until Grant too managed to get his head down with a very tidy break which left Ken trailing without enough balls. Dave started the final frame like an absolute beginner, not what you need to do when you are on last and it’s 2 games all! Trailing miserably and with 5minutes to go, he finally got a break going and played the table out to scrape a win for the Dun. Phew!!

I dunno what Sparky did to the table last night but it played well for us tonight. A very good evening (not just cos we won!) rounded off with a generous stack of chip butties replacing the usual egg sarnies. Just as well really because Bill Hammond produced some of his lethal pickled onions. Yowzah!!

Thanks both and don't know why one leg had dropped, even though table was in position :-/ but just needed re-levelling and the usual clean and iron.

I think we might have got your chips as well as ours. There were loads of them! Two great big bowls. (Although one looked suspiciously like the dog's bowl!) Hopefully this will be repeated for both teams.

Dun Horse away to Southwater SC ‘B’
Stuart on first, losing his opening break. Both players had a scrappy game with a last ball finish. Stuart needed the 200, Chris the 100. After a couple of attempts Stuart unfortunately took the black peg out. :'( Grant on second, struggled to start. Gordon managed to pull ahead before Grant got his head down to pull back. After the bar had gone, Gordon managed to score enough to clinch the frame. :-[ Scott on third. Probably the best game of the evening with the lead changing hands with almost every visit. Scott managed to get far enough ahead to take the game. :) Colin up fourth. Started reasonably but another scrappy frame leaving Chris far enough in front to win the game. :( Dave played the final frame and successfully failed to get the break shot once during the entire game. Matt however did and managed to get far enough in front to leave Dave floundering. :-[
Dun Horse 1 Southwater SC’B’ 4
Stuart Hope - Chris Budgen 1560 Grant Hope 1810 Gordon Ling 2280 Scott Hope 3400 Tom Darkins 2760 Colin Bolton 1380 Chris Purkiss 2370 Dave Simmons 2520 Matt Senior 4270
A frustrating match on an awkward table which the home side managed to turn to their advantage. :'( A very enjoyable evening though and good to see the Southwater ‘B’s back in the league.

1st posting from Alfold Club so please forgive if any errors.
Match 4th November Limerburners Cricketers versus The Alfold Club
1st game Chip Versus Trevor, both started slowly, well Trevor almost at snail pace and after a scrappy, low scoring game Chip came through ahead.
Robin went on second for Alfold, took a steady lead, eventually rattling in 2.5K to win the frame. Then came Garry who started with a good break, leaving his opponent a lot to do, and if it had not been for the white peg, would have put the pressure back on, however, Garry took the game to put Alfold 2-1 up. Then up steps the Major, who struglged with the break and with an in form Brian at the table found it dificult to get the table back. Brian eventually winning with the highest score of the night. Due to the Major Minor being laid up with food poisioning, Keith stepped in to help the Alfold team out, and though he put on a brave effort could not match the experience of his opponent.
Match ended 3 -2 to the Limeburners Cricketers.
Good night, with decent beer and food, thanks to Chip and his staff

Dun Horse 1 Southwater SC’B’ 4 Stuart Hope - Chris Budgen 1560 Grant Hope 1810 Gordon Ling 2280 Scott Hope 3400 Tom Darkins 2760 Colin Bolton 1380 Chris Purkiss 2370 Dave Simmons 2520 Matt Senior 4270 A frustrating match on an awkward table which the home side managed to turn to their advantage. :'( A very enjoyable evening though and good to see the Southwater ‘B’s back in the league. I think that has pretty much doubled the teams points for the season. God knows how Tom and Chris P can do it on a Tuesday but not a Wednesday, and myself the other way around. Very frustrating! Awkward table was an understatement though Dave! We might as well have played in the gravel car park outside!
