Corner House A 4 Tandem A 2 (amended after taking expert advice)
A top of the table clash last night. Corner House were 4 points clear and a game in hand going into the match and, halfway through the night, it looked as though the two teams would be level by the end of the night as it was very possible that Tandem could be winning 5-1.
Micky Jones won the 1st leg with a 4k break and, despite seeming to rest on his laurels, hung on against Greg. But Ray Sturgess annihilated Farrelly with well over 16k, made in three visits. When Ian Moss beat skipper Bob Allsworth, Tandem were 2-1 ahead which looked better when Greg was going well in the 4th, but Micky came back again to level the match 2-2.
Farrelly made all of 500 off his break to "pile on the pressure" but Ray only made a few before getting stuck in the corner for a few shots and ended up with a pin, and Farrelly finally got his head into gear with a winning 8k break. Ray made a good break at the death which gave him good heart for the Inter-Area match on the same table 24 hours later.
Ian Moss should have levelled at 3-3 but, touching up at 6k, hit the ball too hard and it rolled on to the pin. Bob played a captain's innings to complete the turnaround.
Six point lead is handy but plenty of games to play. Wonder how the Red Lion did?

Due to Dave Barnes' unique way of showing the league table, it does not seem that we have a game in hand after all. Oh well, let's wait to see if we have won the league after we finish our games.
