As a part of the major move forward in preparing the forum for the future The owners are reorganising the staffing arrangements.
1) Staff coverage of individual boards has depended entireley on the frequency the local moderator has logged in. Some boards have had virtually no staff cover.
2) From previous experience, I believe local mods may have the advantage of knowing personnel, but I consider they are too close to the action. I do not expect any staff member to moderate fellow league players that they are likely to meet in the confines of a pub shortly after. I certainly don't expect any staff member to face unpleasantness, if possible, through doing their job on here.
We have thus decided to form a team of Global Mods, alongside Colemanator, who will have a roving commission to keep an eye on the entire board for problems. This team will be formed from the active nucleus of the local mods.
This will inevitably mean that some less active staff members will be returned to normal member status. Nothing personal is meant and we thank them for their contribution.
Watch this space!

The new staff structure is now in place.
On behalf of the owners I would like to thank, in no particular order, Ian C, Alan, Ian G, Bernie, Keith, Clive, Jason and Steve to their new more senior roles.
Two of the old local mods (Pete S. and Marcus) are no longer part of the moderation team. We thank them for their past contribution.
Everyday moderation in any area of the forum will now be performed by any member of the team of global mods. They will have a roving commission to keep an eye on the whole board and have the full authority to act when problems occur.
Cross forum teamwork like this will be far better than the old local mods method where some boards were well moderated, but some not at all.
If everybody obeys the forum rules then their life will be easy. If, however, problems do occur I have asked moderators who are actively involved in the leagues concerned to try (only if possible in a sensible timeframe) to find another staff member to act. I want to minimise the possibility of any staff member facing unpleasantness at match nights through having acted to control members on the forum.
Please read the updated forum rules and abide by them, they apply to everyone!!
This completes the major structural and staff overhaul of the forum, which we consider is now in a far better position to move forward and continue to be the only public window to show that bar billiards nationally is still alive!.
