Dun Horse away to Crown
Stuart on first, struggled to make much on a difficult top. Rick played with a home advantage to take the frame comfortably. Scott up second, fared better in a close game with John who eventually took the game. Third game saw Captain Colin trying to pot square balls into triangular pockets! Despite every trick he tried, nothing would go in. Hugh did rather better and made it 3 up for the home team. Grant had a reasonable game until Dave managed to pull 1k ahead which he kept until the end. Dave, back in a familiar last game struggled to start until finding the break on the 4th attempt managed to pull ahead. Colin unable to pull back had to concede the last frame to the visitors.
Crown 4 Dun Horse 1
Rick Padfield 6900 Stuart Hope 1840 John Thayre 3680 Scott Hope 3380 Hugh Fowler 3620 Colin Bolton 420 Dave Sands 2850 Grant Hope 1990 Colin Barrow 1270 Dave Simmons 4140
Dun Horse showing consistency once again, lose another match 4-1. ??? The Crown table is very awkward and definitely favours the home side. Interesting night in a pub packed for a quiz night rounded off with some good food.

Railway Versus Alfold SC
First game saw Railways Nigel against Garry who was unable to find break allowing Nigel to rattle in a good break of 3K taking a convincing lead. Garry found break only to peg out with 2.5k. There after Nigel took command to notch up the first game.
1-0 to Railway
Next up Mike versus the Major who took a modest lead with his first visit. Mike got the break back to score 1.5k only to let the Major back in to knock in 2.5k. Mike found it difficult to get break back with most the balls on the table leaving it too late to make any impact.
1-1
Third up Mick against the Minor who did not find the break and after a slow start Mick hit a good 2.5k break and then lost another 1.5k on his next visit. A bit of a scrappy affair for a bit until Minor won the break back and with a good break left himself a shot on the 200 pocket to win the game with all other balls gone. Unfortunately he missed his first go and even though Mick missed his shot Minor could not get the much needed 200 leaving Mick to secure the game.
2-1 to Railway
Mark was next versus Trevor and after Trevor missed the first break with a slow shot (got hand caught in shirt!!! Honest ::)), Mark stepped up to hit 1.5k. Neither player really made an impact, but Mark kept plugging away to move away into the lead. Though Trevor made every effort to get going he left it too late only winning back the break after the bar and with one ball left.
3-1 to Railway
Final game was Steve versus Robin who started with a reasonable break. Steve's first visit saw him out of sorts plowing straight through the white peg. This was not the best either player has played and with neither making any ground the lead was swinging from one player to another. Eventually Robin edged in front as the bar dropped, but Steve held his composure to win the game by doubling the red from the bottom cushion into the 100 hole.
4 - 1 to Railway

A good night with great company, plenty on banter and decent grub.
Cheers to the Railway
