John Addley (5,360), Chris Saville (5,320) and Neville Potts (3,350) swept the singles, before a Betteshanger comeback from Warren Cowdrey & Ricky Cowdrey (2,210) and Ricky Cowdrey & Ward Griffiths (2,000). Wack Sampson & Addley (2,170) took the last leg and the match.
The Royal Oak won 4-2 away to the Market Inn A to join them in second-place. Craig Carlson (6,550) and Derek Latham (5,080) put the Market ahead, before an Oak success for Roger Oldfield (3,430). The visitors swept the doubles via Nigel Scott & Oldfield (1,850), Mark Graves & Scott (2,420) and Oldfield & Scott (2,520).
The Two Sawyers enjoyed a home 5-1 win against the Magnet B. Sawyers took the singles via Gary Clarke (1,850), Alan Smith (4,820) and Stuart Richardson (4,100). Further victories followed for Clarke & Smith (1,530) and Richardson & Richard Cousens (1,220), with Magnet’s point coming from Dawn Williams & Shirley Cowdrey (1,840).
In Group B, Plough & Harrow B from Bridge have taken command after a 5-1 win away to the Magnet A. John Fullager (5,920), Stan Brocklebank (4,570) and Kevin Kay (4,990) swept the singles, before a Magnet win for Mike Callanan & John Higgens (1,810) in the first doubles. Brocklebank & Fullager (1,650) and Kay & Brocklebank (2,920) secured the match.
The Market Inn B suffered their first defeat of the competition, losing 4-2 away to the Plough & Harrow A in Bridge. Baz Symes (3,340), Keith Symes (5,830) and Ian Dennett (3,880) took the singles, with Dennett & Baz Symes (2,630) securing the match with the first doubles. Gareth Butcher & Dave Carliell (2,150) and Carliell & Alan Farra (3,840) rescued points for the Sandwich side.
