In the Dover, Deal & District Bar Billiards League, the Chequer Inn won 6-0 away at the Magnet B, Deal to progress to the semi-finals in style. Wack Sampson (2,760), Tim Bourner (3,530) and Chris Saville (2,300) completed a clean sweep of the singles matches. The doubles matches followed in familiar fashion as Neville Potts starred in all three games for Chequer, first with Sampson (1,600) then with Bourner (2,040) and finally with Saville (2,190).
The Royal Oak grabbed second-place and a semi-final spot with a 4-2 away win at the Two Sawyers. Richard Cousens (1,650) put Sawyers ahead, before Oak wins for Mark Graves (2,320) and Steve Lake (2,450). Further Oak wins in the doubles via Roger Oldfield & Lake (1,710) and Graves & Oldfield (2,830) gave them the match, with Alan Smith & Chris Cousens (1,180) taking the last leg for the home side.
Betteshanger Club, Deal won 4-2 at home to the Market Inn A to dump the Sandwich side out the competition. Warren Cowdrey (2,220) put Betteshanger ahead, before victories by Derek Latham (3,740) and Ted Hogben (4,900) for the visitors. Dave Howarth & Ward Griffiths (2,140), Warren Cowdrey & Griffiths (1,260) and Griffiths & Ricky Cowdrey (2,290) took the doubles legs.
