Played last night at the Windmill, Littleworth:
Hare and Hounds 1.5, Handcross SC 3.5
Keith 'Noggs' Newman 2220, John 'King' Lear 5810 Dave Howlett 4090, tommo 6710 John Tidy 3420, Sparky 1050 Tony Clasby/John Tidy 2180, John Lear/Darrell Skinner 2890 Noggs/Dave Howlett BP, IanG/Chris Kirkham BP
tommo was nearly punished for a weak one-up shot on just under 5k, Dave Howlett coming back strongly to give him a real scare. 'King' Lear spilled a 2k break in game four which could have been decisive, fortunately Dazza was able, with the bar due, to push the match beyond reach. A pleasant evening, the opposition sharing our sense of fun, especially in the last frame.

Does that mean we have a date with Franksey ? :o :o 8-) And we'll have to make sure "our" Sparky doesn't get near his Wed. night teammates in case they try to "sponsor" him. ;) ;D ;D

It's strange that I've had to enter a Billingshurst competition to meet up with former team-mates from Mid Sussex in the 1980's:
First Noggs (Keith Newman) in the previous round, and now Tony Franks and Ray Manser next Wednesday in the Semi.
Sir Jock could add a bit of 'bite' to our side, and hopefully Sparky will be wearing his 'bar billiard playing head' this time. ;D
I'm quite looking forward to it.

Semi-Final played tonight at Roffey S&SC
Bridge House 1, Handcross SC 4
Tony Temple 3220, tommo 6330 Eric Tysoe 2400, Darrell Skinner 5560 Tony Franks 7390, Sparky 3140 Doug Covey/Ray Manser 2520, Chris Kirkham/Darrell 3740 Eric Tysoe/Tony Franks 3070, Ian Giffen/tommo 4400
Franksey pulled his side back into the reckoning with a star performance in the third game, but it was The Dazzler who had saved some in reserve from the second game who saw the Handcross side home in the fourth.
Great to see some former old teammates, it's been too long. And dear old Doug, who taught me to play all those years ago, up and about and looking well after an extended illness, and now four stone lighter !

The Final. Handcross SC 0, Roffey SSC 5 (at the Norfolk.)
Well to say that Handcross had a torrid time would be an understatement. A rampant Roffey SSC side - admittedly playing on Roffey soil - took all five frames to secure an embarrassingly easy victory, in what must count as one of the most one-sided Finals ever.
Handcross SC Roffey SSC John Lear 800, Lloydy 11,740 tommo 860, Gibbsy 10,700 Dazza 250, 'Windy' Miller 6950 IanG/Sparky 850, Lloydy/Dick Cable 14,550 Chris Kirkham/John Lear 2480, Gibbsy/'Windy' 6980
Breaks: Lloydy 8k, 5k, 8k; Gibbsy 8k; 'Windy' 4k, 4k.

Well done to Roffey. I would like to say that I enjoyed my one visit to the table but it was tooooo short to remember. At least we made the final & will be back next year :D :D Ian.
No news yet on plate final.
