This is a 'first move' towards Billingshurst having its own website. Peter Gibbs has promised to send me all sorts of stuff for inclusion from his copious records. In the meantime - this is your website, let us know what you want put in !

Hi Tommo
Great idea for the individual leagues to have their own page. Things I would like to see included are updated tables, weekly results, highest score/break of the week.
Cheers

Okay, that's all pretty basic stuff, and would be a piece of cake if Peter were to provide me with a weekly update (eMail circulated round the League) like IanG does with the Horsham League.
At present my only sources of Information are the West Sussex County Times for weekly results and a table; and whatever you, SilverFox, RP and Dunplaying report, which I can 'lift' straight from the Forum.
Perhaps the topic of the web page could be raised at your AGM ?
Regards, tommo

Hey i'm a relative newbie, so perhaps the more seasoned members should add a few comments. AGM, do we have one? Finals night is in a couple of weeks at Alfold Club, maybe we can circulate a flyer, happy to print some off if you want to send me the relevant content.
Cheers

AGM is usually a very swift and painless meeting held at the Railway. Peter usually gets a pat on the back and re-elected before he has a chance to say 'no'. ;)
Peter was pleased about the web page and offered to help with content, but the rest of the committee need to know, and I have lost touch rather since the Green Dragon quit the league ten years ago. :-/

Well Peter does a fair job and easy to see why he gets re-elected. Not sure who is on the committee, maybe Tony T??
I am sure Peter can get a word to them.
Either way it should be good

For many years until quite recently Tony Temple was Chairman but cannot guarantee if that is still true.

Well the service is is place, I can set about populating the League Tables (I have 'em from 1970 to 2000 - thirty years' worth with just a few years missing).
Not really after any feedback from the Committee, just mentioned the AGM as an opportunity for mention to be made that the Web Page exists.
Peter will be sending me details of all Cup Competitions for the bygone years, but I will be grateful for first-hand news from anyone on here attending Finals Night, and a Final League Tables update would be nice. ;)

There is still one league match to be played, apparently on Weds 28th, which is why no final league table has been published yet, but the Stout House Z have retained the league title. :-*

Well.... In the 30 odd years that I've been playing Billingshurst League I think I've only ever been to one AGM and that was a very low key affair. (I think Percy Barnett was still secretary then.) It's probably still held at the Railway but how you find out when I don't know. ::)

Saw Tony Temple last night and it does appear that we do a least have a committee, comprising of Tony (Chairman) Peter Gibbs (League & Competitions Secretary) Ding Johnson, Lyn Lennon and one other that Tony couldn`t remember the name of ! ??? :-/
They don`t have any committee meetings, preferring to sort any problems when they meet up on league nights.
As for the AGM Tony couldn`t confirm whether or not they were actually having one this year, as no one else turns up! ::)

Surely it must be written in their constitution that they have an AGM, or else when is there the opportunity to present the balance sheet/accounts to League members ? :o :o

As for presenting a balance sheet, don't you need a treasurer for that, and I am not sure there is one.

Whilst on the face of it the League ambles amiably along, I think you'll find that it's not run in such an off-hand manner as is made out. I'm sure you'd find a set of their Rules pinned up in a pub somewhere, which should detail their rules of constitution.

As stated before I am a newbie in BB terms, just happy to be able to play (well attempt to ::))

Not having a go at anyone. ;) Billingshurst League has quite a proud tradition, and my mission is to establish some of its history before it becomes airbrushed away ! This will be in the form of: - Past League Tables (provided by myself)
- Roll of Honour for Cup Competitions (with the help of Peter Gibbs)
- Interleague records (with the help of Dave Ingram)
Hopefully it will hold some fascination for our readers !

No one`s suggesting the league is run in an off-the-hand manner, just maybe a relaxed one. An example of this happened this season when we had snow in January and it was left solely to Peter Gibbs to reorganize the fixture list I`ll ask Tony on Wednesday (finals/presentation night) about the AGM

Thanks Richard, can you confirm the AGM details when known ?
We can then put them up on the Forum calendar and I'll include it on the web page - then who knows ? they may get more along there than usual this year ! :-/

Ok, this is as far as I can go with it at the moment. Have added the following: - League tables from 1970 to 2000 (30 years' worth)
- Finals night report (courtesy of Richard Plaw)
- This season's Final League tables (thanks again to Richard)
Roll of honour still to be supplied by Peter Gibbs. Meanwhile, if anyone possesses any of the Final League Tables from 2000/01 onwards, please email them to me and I will include them. tommo
