If anybody else notices anything missing...... or has additional information that could be used on the Website, please let me know. ;) Hi Warrior, Well as you mentioned it, the links to the Masters for years 2006, 2007 & 2008 aren't working. Hopefully easy to fix. Cheers, tommo Hi Dave, The 'bug' (twice fixed) seems to have returned ! (No rush.....I have a bug in my Billingshurst site with the menu display: it's totally defeated me so far !) tommo

There are no links for those years, they are just text.

There certainly seems to be a glitch somewhere, although I am not sure where at the moment! All of the links on the "master" copy of the website that I use to update it are working perfectly.... but for some reason these are not working on the actual website itself for some of the Masters and One Day files so I will have to look at it over the next few days and see if I can work out what is going on?

Hi Dave I can see you have now updated , thank you , however from my understanding Div 2 players get 1.5 points for each win. I won 5 out of 5 , therefore I should receive 7.5 points for the wins with additional score points on top ? I only seem to have been given 5.6 ? Could you please look into it. Thanks Quite right Richard, these have been amended and updated now. On the same theme, Nigel seems to only have 9.0 RPs to his credit.......think this should be 17.3

Nigel won 4 games in the County Championships, 2 points per win in Division 1 plus score bonuses means he received 8.8 Ranking Points.

I only noticed it as it sticks out like a sore thumb ! (You have Nigel's Interleague points tally correct on the Rankings page.) Hi Clive, thanks for pointing that out, I can see what you mean now and will amend it on the next update. I'm not sure about a sore thumb but I certainly have a sore head from having "mistakes" on the website pointed out to me about "missing breaks" from the competitions this weekend.... unfortunately, although I am sure that they are correct to say that many of the high breaks are not on the website, sadly the simple reason for that is that they were not recorded by the scorers on the results sheets so I never received the information which obviously makes it impossible to then record it in the first place! Oh well, all part of the "joys" of running the website I suppose.....

At least you can be happy in the knowledge that people do actually read your website, Dave...... I'm never sure about mine !

Update completedon the Sussex Website to include the latest series of Inter League matches, Rankings and Sussex Individual Competitions. Some of the older links are still not working properly but will need more time to sort these out than I have at present, the information is still there but for some reason is coming up on the remote hosting site where the website is based.

Update Completed on the Sussex Website to include all Inter League results for Series 8, Men's and Ladies Rankings and the Sussex Individual Competitions. The old links still have a glitch but they will have to wait until I have more time to look into this properly.

Hi Dave, just having a browse through the website, specifically the Watney Mann archive, and I notice you have several blanks. The only one I can help you with is 1986, when we, as the London and Edinburgh (Worthing), lost to the Albion D at Horsham YMCA football club. I remember it well as in those days it was straight knock-out, and in the final I lost the decider to Micky Winder.

So long as he is registered for a team in that league, he can play.

just out of curiosity, if a player plays interlaeague but doesn't play in that league, is that allowed? Dipper is quite correct to say that a player only needs to be registered for a team in a League to be eligible to represent them in Inter League.... but personally I feel that a League should only really pick regular players for their Inter League team as otherwise they are effectively excluding a regular player who make wish to play Inter League.

Unfortunately I have today received confirmation that the problem I have been experiencing updating the website is a result of the company that hosts the site (Hosting UK) no longer supporting the Microsoft Front Page system that I use to update it. How nice of them not to tell me that.... I will now look at other alternatives of how best to go forward, this may involve starting from scratch and completely building a new website for Sussex which obviously could take time as the information on there goes back many years and I want to find something that will both be easy to use with Excel and Word to be able to use the existing records that I have stored in those formats and also be sustainable for a long-term future for the website. With that in mind I will be speaking to various people who have better knowledge about this than I do to try to make sure that the right decisions are made now rather than just looking at a short-term fix for the problem. I am more than happy to listen to any suggestions that people with experience of websites may have about this. In the meantime I will try to make information about Inter League Tables, Player Averages and latest Rankings available here on the forum to enable players to see how things stand until a new Sussex Website is available.

SCBBA and Brighton were two of the first Bar Billiards websites to be constructed, using XP and the same FrontPage extension. Nigel announced that he had the problem last month with the Brighton site, and it is no surprise that you are now encountering the same for SCBBA. Thanks for your advice guys, Yes Sav what you say is basically the problem I have, the Front Page extensions are no longer supported by tmy web hosting, they have just phased it out. I will look into the solution they gave me, which is using via FTP using a program called Filezilla? I have used GoogleDrive at work so it could be an alternative. I will have to look at how much work is involved in both. A bit of a pain but not surprised that Frontpage is a bit obsolete now as I started using it 14 years ago! So suggest that Nigel is your first port of call.

Hi Dave Yes I use Hosting UK so therefore it makes sense that both our websites are no longer able to be updated in the usual way. My sister's husband (who works in website design) has recommended something called wordpress, which is open software (so free) to build and update my website. I will look into this and let you know. Has anybody else used this, it is supposed to be easy to use. My sister uses it to do her website, she is no techie so must be quite user friendly (she won't read this so thats ok! ) I did get details from hosting uk on how to update the website using front page and then a file transfer program which may be a stop gap solution. I can forward these to you Dave if you need them. Again I havent actually done the process myself but will look into it when get a chance. I think I am in the same position as you Dave, where rebuilding the site may be the long term solution, but it will take time as I would like to keep all the historic stuff on the site.

You can still update your pages using Front Page for now, you do not need to reinvent the wheel. I would be surprised if you are actually using any of the Front Page Extensions.
All that has changed is the automated publishing functions of Front Page are no longer supported.
All you need to do immediately is to remember which pages you have changed and to master FTP transfer, I can email you a old and simple freeware version that still works fine and I use.
For more advanced transfer, are you able to set up a webdisc to your site on your PC?
As far as page preparation is concerned, I use a freebie

and there's an equally large elephant in an adjacent room ! By which I meant: Somewhat relieved to note that it's back, to the state at which it vanished, with updates ceasing just over a year ago. We take it therefore that the Domain has been renewed - well done to whoever is responsible. Very encouraging.
