A few days to go yet and the weather may change.
However can I please ask that Dave keeps us informed as to whether the meeting is to go ahead.
I won't be travelling up from darkest Kent as it is now so meal plans will need to be thought about and cancelled with sufficient time left that there is no financial liability.

Is it possible to have some sort of roll call as to how many of you can or cannot make the AGM this sunday
Reading is completely free of snow. but i dont know how bad it is in your area. if i can get some info from around the country it would assist me greatly
If need be i can call off AGM this sunday and re-arrange for sunday 12th (club is available)

Another four inches of snow this evening to add to the eight yesterday, I will not be attempting it unless there is a major change in the weather.

Pauline & myself will not be able to make the 12th, as it's Lin's birthday and the four of us will be in Bournemouth using my prize for winning this years Bournemouth pairs. Keith

Keith Keith I'm afraid this may leave our AEBBA proposals undefended as I have twelve people coming for early Christmas lunch on the 12th so I'll be up to my neck in sprouts... cheers Tony

It looks as if there is a change on the way from the north west for the w/end, as heavy rain and slightly warmer temperatures (4 degrees) are forecast for all of the south for Saturday, but I doubt it will be a quick enough thaw for those of you in the south east who have been hardest hit with the snow to make the trip to Reading in safe conditions.
So I think it should be cancelled now and another date arranged, what about Sat 18th? or Sun 19th?, if not it will have to be in early January 2011!!
Keith (The Weather Man ;D)
PS I must admit that I'm not looking forward to my milk round tonight, as the rain will be falling on frozen ground making for very dangerous driving conditions. "Torville & Dean" hear we go again!! :(

Dave,
Should you pick this up before tomorrow,
1) Any chance of a list of the proposals please?
2) Have the 2009 accounts been re-presented as required by last year's AGM
If the snow continues to melt down here and driving is safe
3) I am not booked for lunch, is it the carvery?
4) Will there be a problem with me getting admittance to the tables on Sunday morning whilst the selection meeting is taking place so that I can take a look at the two damaged tables and trying to get one servicable between the two so that I do not have to cart both home. This "should" be quite easy with with the one you bought with the saggy slate.

From Dave
New proposals for the 2010 AGM
These rules have been Proposed by Keith Sheard & Seconded by Tony Willis
1. New re-worded rule. From this.... Each Association affiliated to their county be given one vote each at the AGM. To this.... All membership of the All England shall be by local league or association rather than by County. All league associations (again not Counties) that have paid the affiliation fee to the AEBBA are entitled to have one vote each at the AGM and the nominated representative of each member league shall be identified to the Chairman. Only those present at the AGM may vote and no voting by proxy or by post shall be allowed. Counties themselves will have no voting rights, only their constituent leagues or associations.
2. Proposals have to be with the Secretary 21 days before the AGM and distributed to the County Secretaries, so they can be sent to each league/association to be discussed upon.
3. In AEBBA age related competitions the player has to be under that age on the day of the competition, e.g, under 25’s and that age or over on the day, e.g, over 50’s & over 60’s.
4. To change the wording in the following rules..... If the 1st proposal is accepted then the following rules will need amending in the rule book.
e.g From this.... 4). Membership of the Association will be open to any County Association. Acceptance of new members will be by a majority vote at the Annual General Meeting. To this.... 4). Membership of the Association will be open to any County’s Leagues or Associations. Acceptance of new members will be by a majority vote at the Annual General Meeting.
From this.... 5). An annual affiliation fee shall be paid to the Association by each County, the amount to be determined by the Annual General Meeting, which will also decide a date by which fees will be due. If fees are not paid by the agreed date then they will be doubled every two months for which they remain unpaid. Counties will not be permitted to enter the A.E.B.B.A. competitions unless affiliation fees have been paid. To this.... 5). An annual affiliation fee shall be paid to the Association by each County’s Leagues or Associations and that all such fees will be collected and sent by each County Secretary, the amount to be determined by the Annual General Meeting, which will also decide a date by which fees will be due. If fees are not paid by the agreed date then they will be doubled every two months for which they remain unpaid. Counties will not be permitted to enter the A.E.B.B.A. competitions unless at least one of their constituent league's affiliation fees has been paid.
These are other rules that may need to be changed if the 1st proposal is passed. 13). A quorum for Annual General Meetings shall be representation by at least 50% of the Affiliated Counties.
14). Voting at Annual General Meetings will be up to two votes per county. All decisions will be made by a majority vote. The Chairman will have a casting vote if required.
16). An extra-ordinary meeting must be called by the secretary within thirty days of receipt of a written request from at least fifty percent of member counties.
17). Member counties agree by their affiliation to abide by the association’s rules.
RULES GOVERNING INTER COUNTY TOURNAMENTS AND A.E.B.B.A. TEAM K.O. COMPETITIONS.
4). Only counties affiliated to the All England Association may enter A.E.B.B.A. competitions.
This rule will need changing if proposal 2 is accepted. 15). Changes of the Association’s Rules may only be made by a majority decision of the Annual General Meeting. Propositions relating to changes of rules must be in writing to the Secretary at least 14 days prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting. Proposed By Dave Alder Seconded By Nigel Senior 1) Removal of County Division 3. Although this doesn’t need to be proposed it certainly needs to be discussed. 2) British Bar Billiards forum to be the official voice for the AEBBA

What happened to the Kent proposal about the points for legs change?

What happened to the Kent proposal about the points for legs change? I don't know Keith, I've emailed Dave to find out whether it arrived in time. Just to make it clear this was passed by the KBBA AGM with me voting against it. I will be voting against it at the AGM as I now vote for my assoxiation and not KBBA. Rather a strange side effect of the new voting system that the county who proposed the change cannot vote for it, the votes coming from the associations within the county . Sav,

I believe Dave never received the Kent prposal after speaking to him at the Grand Prix. I did put in the following rule proposal which is missing off the list....
No ladies only events should qualify for points for the Open Grand Prix. With the ladies having their own successful ladies grand prix for a few years I see no reason why they should still receive points for the grand prix for ladies only events especially when they do not take the invite to the open grand prix and always choose to play in the ladies event anyway. However I want to make it clear here that any lady earning enough points through the year in open events should of course receive an invite

In my capacity as the KBBA secretary, I sent by e-mail to Dave Alder the rule change proposal made at the KBBA AGM inside the time frame according to the AEBBA rules (taken from the AEBBA Website)

A very poorly supported AGM, a total of nineteen hardy souls were present.
Cambridge, Surrey and Northants were not represented.
Long long discussion on whether Associations or Counties form AEBBA. It was agreed that last year's AGM vote meant the Associations would be voting at the meeting. This meant Oxfordshire got three votes and Hampshire one. It was basically agreed that Counties form AEBBA but Association vote at the AGM
Chairman's and Secretary's reports reflected on the continuing contraction of our game and the difficulty in getting people to help run it. Dave was very appreciative of the help he has received from the Forum.
2009 & 2010 accounts were received and passed. There was some confusion over which table sponsors wanted their investmanet back and which considered it a donation. Treasusre is to get a clearer picture.
Officers voted in en=bloc.
Secretary's Honorarium increased with a one-off gift to Sam Alder for his massive contribution to the AEBBA Tournaments and tables.
Proposals were passed except for the Kent proposal for one point per leg and one for aggregate which was rejected.
International teams should come from KT.
Re Dave's request for the forum to be recognised by AEBBA, some flack for the running of the forum and the questionable impartiality of it's officers came from Dave Barnes which I rebuked in the strongest terms. The meeting accepted the vital communications role (but nothing more) the forum has and the efficient structure of its management. It's 300 members and the 300 daily non members visitors is the only publicity the game gets to show the it is still alive.
I seem to be lumbered as table doctor.
