Any idea when the Aebba website is going to be updated with reports, rankings etc from the opens that have happened this year ?

Milhouse, Oxford Open, Bournemouth and BIOC Ladies are already on the site. Mermaid Open and Inter Insular match have been sent to Sav so I am sure they will be on as soon as Sav gets time to upload them. Re reports, I will write some bits and pieces but I am sure if anyone writes a tournament report, send it to Sav and I am sure he will put it on with the results I provide - it would be good to have some input fro the players, likewise if there are any photos taken from tournaments it would be nice to have them on the site too.
The rankings on the site are without Mermaid results, but they have been calculated and just to let you know you are up to 43rd. You are also 4th in the current Grand Prix list, where 16 qualify for the finals. These rankings should also be updated shortly.

Ditto as per Nige,
Everything is on there except the Mermaid stuff that I got at the start of May.
Had the three day KBBA festival and my own league finals to run in the last fortnight to run, and major updates to another website, so it will have to take its turn.
Should be on there soon Mark. Have not heard from you re my last email to you on the subject of the site and AEBBA.

Sussex results and post Sussex rankings gone on the AEBBA site.
I've not stripped the formatting this time, which means they are BIG BIG files.
Anyone on dialup in particular, let me know if this causes problems.
The Sussex result is similarly in a new format, external to the menu system, but much easier for me to update - any comments?

Sav, I have had a quick look, I think the new format for the results look good and didn't take long to load up for me. if it is easier for you to upload this way and doesn't take up too much space, this is probably the way to go.
For anyone that is interested I notice that Sav has also put on the international results between England and Guernsey as well.

I've had a quick look in my coffee break, here are my comments :
The new design for the ranking list - Fantastic ! Love the colour scheme.
The Sussex Open report just added. Couldn't see at first, but then I remembered......you have to refresh first. Do that, everybody, and it works fine. File is a bit larger than we're used to, but easy to navigate around.
Great work once again, Sav and Nigel.
An aside comment - thought that a last 16 place in the Sussex might boost my ranking a bit. It's no different. :'( Then I twigged how it works - you have to achieve that level each time just to stand still !

Cheers you two,
More comments would be appreciated.
I cannot sustain too many files of this size in my hosting, unless some of the other sites I host free up space. Thus once the results have aged a while, I would strip the formatting to save something like 300k per file.
Other alternative that has been discussed is AEBBA paying for a hosting.

Good work Nigel.
But can you advise the mechanism to get a user-friendly print off of the file ? I've tried landscaping instead of portrait, and it doesn't seem to print out any better.

I just wanted to download the Kent to go with the Mermaid and the Sussex (already done) so as to have an equivalent record for the years tournaments to what we used to get from the late, lamented BBQ. So the answer to which file is the Kent Classic a) last 128, b) final stages, c) Plate last 64 and d) Plate final stages. Latest Rankings List prints off fine.

Berkshire results are on site thanks to Nigel.
Bucks results are incomplete and will be added when appropriate.
Will look at the above Clive, just spotted it, I would guess highlight and print 'selected'.

Latest results and a couple of piccies are on site.
I've had to truncate the Grand Prix standings to those who have actually scored a point as the file was 2½meg and took thirty seconds to load on my broadband, A dial up user would have been waiting until Xmas!

Bournemouth Info for 2008 added to Competition Entry page.
If someone sends me the Oxford form, I will add that too.

The Roll of Honour needs updating, as it hasn't been done since about 2004 with the tournament winners, as per this example:- www.aebba.org/results/county_opens.shtmlPlease note, this is in no way a criticism as I appreciate the work that goes into these things, just an observation. :)

Great work Nigel & Sav, lots of information there. Even the World Championships (Jersey) Plate !
For those who aren't familiar, easiest way to access the AEBBA website is : 1) go to General Bar Billiards board; 2) select thread "Links to Other Websites" and click on the link Sav has given to "AEBBA website".
Then 3) select from the drop-down menus : Competitions and Results 2007.

Great work :)
But sorry to be really thick :-/ could somebody explain to me what the two columns headed "prov" mean? ???
|
|
|
Post by NigelS on Dec 19, 2007 1:35:18 GMT
Ros
The two columns marked "prov" basically are what the ranking positions and total points are for next year at the moment. They are provisional as we have obviously not reached that date yet. So on the 2008 sheet the first column shows the official positions for 1/1/08 (counting years 2006, 2007, 2008) and the second column marked prov shows the provisional positions for 1/1/09 (just years 2007, 2008).
Hope that makes sense

Thanks for that Nigel :)
So the provisional points are those that will be carried forward for another year, and the provisional ranking is where people would be ranked if no other points were added to anyone? ie at this moment (because 2007 is complete) the start point for 2008, but not for 2009 as further points will be carried forward from 2008
