(Bar Billiards Ltd decision to cease of renting bar billiards tables to UK sports clubs and pubs has already stirred up the local bar billiards circuit. The first billiards bar league in England, the Oxford Bar Billiards Association threatens to close its offices following the Bar Billiards Ltd announcements. Despite the Bar Billiards offer to sell the tables at a discount price of £1,000 to each table, the veteran Oxford Association, established back in 1936, cannot afford to buy the required amount of tables to ensure the opening of the next season.)
Where did that rubbish come from!! :o >:(

First of all a sweeping statement made about the future of our game, founded on pure conjecture.
And then a downright libellous statement about the Oxford Association.
I stumbled upon the article by chance, so am not sure when it was written.
But I quite agree with Richard: We should not take this lying down, a complaint would be in order.

Absolutely unbelievable. How can they print an article like that without factual evidence of any kind >:( >:( I have sent a message through their contact us service, This is what i sent
I have just been sent a link to your website. after reading your article on the demise of bar billiards, I find it totally inaccurate and libelous. Remarks made against Oxfordshire Bar Billiards Association is completely untrue and unfounded. I request therefore that you remove this article or at least bring it up to date with factual evidence rather than the fly by night rubbish you have published.
I doubt i will get any response from such a small minded, short sighted website :-X
But at least i feel better for sending it :)

Yes, good for you, Dave,
That was exactly what was needed on behalf of the bar billiards community.
Trusting that it also meets with Oxford's approval.
Thanx, tommo

I'm sure that Tony's theory as to the source is correct.
But what got our backs up was firstly the putting together of two and two to make five (= the death of our sport) and secondly from the gleeful manner in which another sport (= Pool) latched on to it.
Perhaps we could add that, simce the original announcement, Phil Collins - a former Pool player from Oxford - won the World Singles and Doubles title, and the second of these has been retained by the county. Also that there has been a happy ending to the table rentals situation, with not a single league having to fold as a result of it.
