Good Luck To Martin & Family in the new pub & nice to see you did not waste any time in getting the table in. I hope it's well used & as I said to Trevor we will make a trip down in the summer for a few games. ;D

Hi BB fans
Hastings Friendly at the Plough V Ashburnham B played 31/08/11 double break away team start
Heather Akehurst 470 Dave Pearce 370 Stewert Chant 3500 Roy Harmer 1800 Peter Payne 2290 Mick Osbourne 670 Colin Southouse 2910 Sandy Harmer 2810 Peter Payne 2540 Ron Young bp
The Plough won 5-0 more by luck than judgement, as the black peg needed a minder tonight, 3 games went to the last ball which always keeps the interest up but have to say the opponemts were most friendly and Martin supplied a fantastic curry.
Rematch arranged for 21st Sept at the Ashburnham
Learnt some hastings rules ie no practice on home tables on match night and markers from teams score when their player is with the break, home team have breaks 1,3 & 5
like the 2nd, dont like the 1st, but its not the end of the world and when in Rome.... ;D

Hi Hastings BB Fans,
Popped into the Plough for some much needed acclimatisation and practice, then popped into the Courthouse for a quickie, to see Mike Daw play a solid 19k+ break only to lip a shot round the 20 hole to loose it and to compound the matter his opponent woke up and nicked the game!
MD will be worth keeping an eye on for county selection ;)
Have arranged a further friendly at the Plough for Wednesday 14th against the Courthouse 8.30pm start

result 4-4 draw A good night, good company, a great feast supplied by Martin Hook yet again, the curry and lasagne were definately of higher quality than the billiards....except YKH of course, me thinks the table will need a bit of TLC before the next match! ;)

Hi Hastings BB Fans
Hastings league week 3 18/10/11
The Plough v The Ashburnham B played at the Ashburnham Chris Sexton 1260 v 10370 Colin Southouse Sandy Harmer 6860 v 2950 Stewart Chant Roy Harmer 9150 v 320 Heather Akehurst Mick Osbourne 4200 v 1150 Roy Jenkins Ron Young 1000 v 470 Fred pope
result Ashburnham B win 4-1 and gain 10 points to the Ploughs 2 points
The best top so far in Hastings with Sandy's boys getting the break back easily throughout, Hastings has a most over 2k and 3k break award, only 1 person ever remembers to record them though ::) ;)
Fred battered the black peg late in the 5th game but he..." always looks on the bright side of life"

Yet another great evening with the Eastbourne boys and girls, hopefully next time the timer will be back to normal as I felt Stewart would've got close if not in the lead. As for the 3k and 2k breaks the 'boss' still moans over one I missed off two years ago....I would hate to think of the earache I'd recieve if i missed another one :)

Table came from a different planet today and might be celebrating bonfire night in an unfortunate way soon, well done the Courthouse for overcoming such difficulties.
Pockets to clean, table to level and timer to fix, apart from these the table was perfect ;)

Hi Hastings BB Fans
Hastings League cup 1st Round 1st Leg Old King John v The Plough at OKJ 2/11/11
Graham Dean 2010 v 1090 Fred Pope Andy Ellison 2970 v 910 Stewart Chant Nigel Doe 5060 v 770 Heather Akehurst Chris Lamb 3650 v 2150 Jason Akehurst Mark Bailey 980 v 7380 Colin Southouse
result OKJ win 4-1
Table played better than at our last outing here, only a slight roll to the left, and a bit uphill, the left hand break is on here but the visitors failed to capitalise on the numerous chances on offer tonight, so well done the okj, with a big advantage going into the 2nd leg

Hi Hastings BB Fans
Hastings League match 16/11/11 The Plough V The Anchor at the Anchor
Jason Akehurst 1280 v BP Ray Morton Heather Akehurst 250 v 920 Phil Roberts Colin Southouse 7760 v 250 Victoria Fey Stewart Chant 1380 v 640 Andrew Lipscombe Martin Cook 1040 v 990 Colin Manson
The Plough win 4-1
Well done to Martin Cook winning with the difficult 100 shot on debut and a special hard luck award to Heather who looked well on the way to her 2ND win only to miss cue the ball straight through the black peg and into the 200 hole 3 Min's from time losing her hard earned 960 points
Good natured match, nice pizza, chicken terrazzo kebabs and spicy wedges...great!
Table was "every which way but loose" tonight virtually impossible to play the balls in the holes you were aimimg for,it's handy we didn't keep a running total of the number of fallen pegs even with 10 people on duty there were insufficient fingers.

Hi Hastings BB fans,
Hastings League 30/11/11 The Plough v The Nags Head A played at the Nags Head
Colin Southouse 12,420 v 890 Ewan Stewart Chant 4240 v 280 Peter Crabtree Chris Haynes 4310 v 1420 Steve McGill Heather Akehurst 780 v BP Tom Leitch Jason Akehurst 4440 v 1280 Sean Croft
The Plough win 5-0 and receive 12 points
Well done the plough, the Nags table has very receptive pockets allowing for the possibility of high breaks. Heather wins her 2nd match thanks to some special help from her opponent tonight black pegging after the bar had dropped,Jason Akehurst continues the assault on his target of ending the season with a higher average than Stuart (lets hope he keeps his eyes Stu and refrains from targeting yours truly) Chris had a brief encounter with 6k score but failed to keep his break when it counted.
2x5.5k breaks from Colin to give the visitors a great start and put the home team on the back foot for the rest of the night, Nice sarnies and Jolly night had by all

Hastings league match The Plough v The Courthouse A played at the Plough
Chris Haynes 1850 v 1810 Andy Macfarlane Stewart Chant 3540 v 200 Riza Rizai Fred Pope 1580 v 730 Lewis Wand Heather Akehurst 300 v 2140 John Wand Colin Southouse 2060 v 4240 Lee Brock
The Plough win 3-2
The table had some real character tonight, bit of a lottery as to where the balls ended up, well done to Fred who gets his first win in Hastings tonight, plenty of accidental 400 shots from the visitors which almost secured their win but some good grinding out wins for the first three secured the match leaving the last two to bring the scores back to perhaps a reasonable result. The pace of the shot was key tonight and Lee brock a Cool Hand Luke showed all the correct way to play an awkward top.
Beef Jalfresey, Lamb Biriani and pasta bake tonight Top Marks to Martin again for Amelia and the Nifty Nosh.

Hastings league Cup Match 2nd Leg The Plough v OKJ played at the Plough

Hi Hastings BB Fans
Hastings league results for The Plough V Ashburnham B played at the Plough 25/01/12
Fred Pope 1210 v 2140 Mick Osborne Heather Akehurst 980 v 2550 Ron Young Stewart Chant 3090 v 2720 Roy Harmer Colin Southouse 13,430 v 580 Sandy Harmer Chris Haynes 300 v 5120 Chris sexton
Colins Home break 10,900
Result Ash B win 3-2
Stewart and Roy had a nice match before, during and after their game :o, Stewart won on the last ball (red) in the 100 ( i thought this happened last week... must be psychic) which gave the home team some well earned encouragement
Had to level the table up again just before the match. Table was a bit tricky at the start but seemed to settle down just as i started to play ::) PS Sandy is a great spectator :-*
The decider was all too and fro but each player continued to get the break back and score steadily, but with about 4 Min's to go and the scores about level Chris Haynes contrived an excellent way to demolish the black peg followed by Chris Sexton making and losing 1.5k.
Overall a great match with our friends from the Ash B, plenty of banter and food, with Amelia keeping our gander up ;)
