Nigel you are forgetting he is SirKT :D He sounds like the kind of person who needs a good thrashing :D ;D ;) I think you are the man for the job ;) You need to come to Reading for the Berks Open on Sept 17th. Yeah table 4 looked the best table so I am not surprised that the best break came on it. As for table 3, me and Pete really struggled on that, although Pete started with a good break in leg 2, I could have played all day on that and not scored 20k.

Where is the venue for the Berks open?
Also would I get ranking points if I played there?

unless I can't get transport there, count me in. Where are th foms?
I really want to attend this open as I know roughly where it is!
If I can't get transport it might look like i'm only going to Reading Team KO Championships.

Once again, I will offer, if you can get to Rushden first thing in the morning, to drive you to Reading as a favour, as long as you promise not to talk all the way......
Just joking, I will probably tape our conversation for future posterity?????
And, yes, ranking points will be available, for getting into the last 16 OR part-points for scoring over 8,000 in any leg of the main competition OR the plate for first round losers.

Where are the dam forms?

Pete - There's an old saying that goes something like : "You can lead a White Swan to water, but you can't necessarily make him drink." ;D
(Expecting that one to go straight over Johnny's head.) ::)

Well done Kev on yet another Open win, yawn, yawn, snore "sorry only jealous" :). It seems as if Lady H is making you into an even better player than before, if that is possible !!. Just wondering whether you have ever won 3 opens on the bounce yet ?.
Well played and see you on Tue Aug 29th at the Corner House Pub in the Semi Final of the Area All England Team Championships between our teams.
May I also congratulate Dave Alder on his highest ever Open score, playing against "The slowest Milko in the west" he was chasing nearly 18,000 on table 3, but played the table out with a superb 20,200. Well done indeed.

Sorry JG, but I have 174 miles there and back on the day as it is, so I really do not need another 37 miles each way to go to Cambridge a couple of times, in the morning and at night (x4 = 148 extra miles). [do not fancy the M11/M25] I am nice but not that nice. The offer is there but you would have to get around your dad (or Keith even) to get you along the A14 to possibly Raunds or Thrapston first. I would not mind picking you up from there. We could then "split" together. I have an entry form and, if you can get a £10 Cheque or PO (payable to Berkshire Open Bar Billiards) to me quickly, I will let Dave know that you wish to enter. You could even read a few old BBQs on the trip down. Bring a torch and you could read a few more on the way back. But you will have to act quickly.

I don't know where thrapston is Fazza. Could you show me a map on the internet? That's lucky, Pete, you'll just have enough room in the back of your car for a whet nurse for Johnny ! ;D And we'll know what to put in his stocking for Christmas with the orange and the lump of coal and the Wizzer and Chips Annual - a road atlas ! ;D ;D ;D

Well played Mark - though if you play Fazza again watch out - 'cos he'll be gunning !

How much would your play improve after entering Opens? A lot Johnny, but you will learn most from watching other players. It will be a good opportunity for you to watch the best in action.

Well played Mark - though if you play Fazza again watch out - 'cos he'll be gunning ! That would be me ;D Although not really a beard, just not shaved for a couple of days! Extremely dodgy table which i got on with just a little better than Pete. Had it been a decent table, Pete would have wiped the floor with me (not literally!) Tommo, didn't you play Keith Hollis in the first round ? He is a teammate of mine who i beat in the 2nd round ;D ;D

Yay, that were me. Took the first game against the break but then blew it big time in the second. Made a mistake early on and at one stage had a ball near the baulkline. Fazza, watching, said why didn't you roll another one up to it but I was being cocky and trying to leave the game open. Later, when searching for the 'perfect' position to leave for the split I thought I'd sussed it - but my favourite shot whipped and had the peg - I'd forgotten all about the left-hand roll. Keith then played exceptionally well and buried me with a 4k break at the end. Oh well, I thought, at least I won't have to play Fazza, but then as you were good enough to beat him I probably wouldn't have got that far anyway ! ;)

Fazza, watching, said why didn't you roll another one up to it but I was being cocky and trying to leave the game open. Sorry Tommo, you misunderstood. I didn't actually say that. I actually said "I thought that is what you would do as you were winning". I would probably have done what you did. You were a bit unlucky because Keith played extremely well after that. Well until the bar anyway, when he proceeded to try to lose that big break of his. I will let YOU off for misquoting me though. This time! ;D

But I was being cocky and trying to leave the game open.

....and you may have done enough to get into your County B team for the forthcoming County Championships. You too Clive! Already there. Though I appear to have been demoted from being an A team player. This was down to our democratic (and inventive) method of selection: Sixteen players took part in the County singles. The best eight performers on the day form the A team. I only finished third in my group but went on to win the Plate. So I'm in the B team - but that's completely fair. Jukesey only just made it, though, by the skin of his teeth ! If Tony Cross hadn't put 23k past me I would have qualified instead of him.

Did Surrey really pick both teams on the basis of one tournament? Surely, Jukesey would be an automatic choice for Surrey A regardless of how he did in one tournament. Do you think the best 8 players have made the A?
