Will agree with KT in that it was a fantastic weekend of bar billiards with the international on Saturday and the Open on the Sunday.
Obviously I am chuffed to bits to win the first ever Guernsey Open and beating Trevor in the final was the icing on the cake as he is a terrific world champion.
Lets hope this is the first of many Guernsey Opens, and that more of us can make the trip over in the future. There aren't many opens you can play on green, purple, blue and red tables! The venue was fantastic, and Bob Chapple and his helpers did a great job in running the weekend and my thanks go out to them.

Congratulations to Nigel in the main comp and Sue in the plate and commiserations to Trevor and Steven.
Big thanks to the English boys and girls for supporting the Open and a special thanks to those who gave me a hand/nudge on some little cock-ups, very hectic weekend but very rewarding. Peninsula have penciled in the May Holiday weekend for next year, will talk to the sponsored in the next day or two.
Congratulations to Trevor on his win in the masters on Friday night, excellent competition, must make it a regular event.
Congratulation to the English boys on their 42-10 win in the international, bit of a hammering but some excellent games were played by Guernsey, should be closer next year.
The B teams both put on a excellent show, congratulations to England on the win.
See you in November (note to self, keep playing the split you now know it works).

Player not to be drawn against in the future Dave (30 pocket) Hampton who ran the table out with approx 3k against Dave de J (who decided the go to the bar and buy a pint half way through), was it really 52 putts on the 30?

Would like to second Bob's thanks to all who entered and supported the first Guernsey Open. Some great friendships renewed and new ones formed. Congratulations to Nigel on his fine win and commisorations to Trevor who probably cleaned up at the Guernsey Race meeting today to make up for his loss. However I must say with the very high standard of play througout and any one of a dozen players could have made it through to the final. The Channel Islands are not cheap places to travel to, so we are pleased to have had the opportunity to pit our meagre skills against some of English and a few of Jerseys finest. Thanks to Jill, Sami, Harry and Des for waving the Jersey flag and I hope you will tell the doubters that the Guernsey tables can produce decent scores if played upon when sober. So in conclusion all the Guernsey players and supporters were very grateful for the support througout the weekend and we hope that if this event is held again, it will attract the same enthusiatic interest.

While reiterating thanks and congratulations to all concerned, just one thought for a great chap who could not be there, missing out on a coveted place in the England team.
WE ALL MISSED YOU RAY!

Margo and I would like to express our thanks to the Guernsey organisers, and our congratulations on staging a successful event.
With such a good venue as the Peninsula Hotel, which accommodated non-staying guests such as ourselves to dinner, it is really difficult to see how this could ever be improved on. The fare was quite simply superb.
Our own hotel was actually in the south of the island (we took the car over on the ferry) so a very special thanks to our mate Stormin’ Norman for all the written directions and tips on how to find our way around and negotiate the various roadworks and police roadblocks and diversions!
We had a fantastic time, fitted in so much over the weekend - including visits to Sausmarez Manor and to ze German Occupation Museum – and were back home last night before midnight. We hope this event will become an annual fixture and are already looking forward to a repeat visit next year.
Oh - and congratulations to Nigel (my tip to win it ;D) and thanks to SirKT for giving Dave Ingram and me a run-out for the 'B' team on Saturday night. 8-)

I will echo all the comments above and congratulations to Nigel and Sue on their fine wins.
The Guernsey players have an interesting way of scoring the thousands during a break, as they fold their arms and open their fingers and thumbs for each thousand. I was stood next to Trevor in the final and I asked, "what happens when they reach 11,000", Trevor answered "they get their C### out" ;D :o I didn't ask what happens after that, maybe they have more than one.!!
Keith.

Keith. I didn't notice that Keith....I am glad Kev was scoring the final then :D. Er what I mean by that is not that I was looking forward to him getting his c### out when I reached 11,000 but in that he has the more traditional way of scoring by using the coins ;D. I will stop there as I may end up digging myself into a bigger hole :P

This is worth a "Bump" if only for the last two hilarious posts. ;D Anyway, for those interested, the full transcript of the tournament is now available to see on the Guernsey website: guernseybarbilliards.co.uk/34.html

So who's that old has-been who scored 19,170 in the 1st round, the second highest aggregate of the entire Main competition. Life in the old dog yet.
P.S. knocked out in the 2nd round though

Now that is what I call a good summary of the tournament with each score and the full draw. I wish some of the others would follow this example as its nice to see how people did or didn't if you are not there.

For info Beefy All the major competitions are in similar detail on the AEBBA site and have been since the cessation of the BBQ, provided the results are sent to Nigel S. HTH Sav
