An emotional final contested by the brothers Sainsbury with Paul coming out on top, well done to both and to Pete for organising the day. Congrats to Paul for some superb billiards in a difficult draw.
Jason Wadsworth won the plate from Simon Ellam.

An all family final...... 8-) .... is that a first? :o
Congratulations to Paul for his victory in the main competition and Jason for winning the plate. ;)
A very big well done also to Pete for both reaching the final as well as running the day (with his team of willing helpers! ;)) and made it another great day for us all. ;)

Great day at the Kent Classic, well done to Paul Sainsbury who played really superb all day. I couldn't believe this but it is his first win since the 2001 Bucks when he beat KT. He also had a tough draw but ran tables out against Gareth Lloyd and Steven Sheard, and gave me no more opportunity after I missed the one up against him in the semis on 8k
Well done to Pete also who ran the day nad made the final too, he was certainly a bit emotional after the semi but I have no idea what he was like after the final!
The tables were superb, I didn;t play a bad one all day, and there were a few 20k breaks over the day.
So 2 more new finalists making 12 different finalists in the 6 open finals this year - incredible! That must have been the curse for me and Keith (milko) who were trying both make their second final of the year in the semis. How is anyone going to predict the winner and runner up of the Bucks Open!

For those who weren't there (and those who left early !) these were the closing stages:
Quarter-finals (Main): Paul Sainsbury bt Ian Lelliott; Mark Trafford lost to Nigel Senior; Pete Sainsbury bt Vinny Mitchell; Keith Sheard bt Dave France.
Semis: Paul Sainsbury bt Nigel; Pete Sainsbury bt Keith.
Final (Nectar Cards at the ready ;D) Paul Sainsbury bt Pete Sainsbury.
A very emotional occasion, all we needed was a rendition of He Ain't Heavy (He's My Brother). Great to see, what must be the odds against that ever happening again ? Quote KT : Enormous, if I have anything to do with it !
.........and not to forget the Plate, Semi Finals: Simon Ellam bt Neal Chamberlain; Jason Wadsworth bt Nick Wren. Plate Final: Jason bt Simon.
Well done to Jason, who after losing his first match to Dave Hampton played superbly for the remainder of the day, knocking in a 13k break in an early Plate round before scores of 10k and 12k in the SemiFinal.
A well-run day, take my hat off to Pete S for making the Final as well as having to co-ordinate the event.
Further "well dones" go to Keith Sheard for top break of the day of 23k, and to Lady H for being the 'furthest lady' - making it to the Last 16. And to the caterers for such a varied menu - my Ploughman's seemed especially good value. Chocolate fudge cake too - yummy. ;)
Finally, a thought for absent friends Pauline Withey, Richard Wooton, Lorraine Hall..............your presence was missed, and hope you are all back to full health and playing in Opens again soon. Good to see Dave May making a rare appearance, though.....
