........and according to this excellent up-to-date blog, there is a table at the Vat & Fiddle (formerly known as The Grove), in close proximity to the Newshouse, with the distinct possibility of an inter-house championship: pub-games.blogspot.co.uk/Having done a bit of research I think the Lock & Lace in Nottingham will now have to come off our map: It seems in recent years it was renamed the Navigation (same address: 6 Wilford Street) and there is no mention of any bar billiards on its website (pinball and table football only). The landlord moved on to Sheffield and probably took the table with him.

This link shows that bar billiards is thriving at the Swan & Rushes, Leicester (table is an ex-Bar Billiards Ltd rental): * pub-games.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Bar%20Billiards* sadly, pub closed in July 2017......and we also have a new venue to put on our map, the Old Pheasant at Glaston, Rutland. 8-)

All the best and great to see.
Leicestershire does have a tradition, it used to be one of the participating counties back in the 1980's.
I was reliably informed many years ago that Bill Maynard (aka Selwyn Froggatt/Claude Greengrass) was an accomplished player and used to represent the county.

The White Lion, Tamworth Rd, Sawley, nr Long Eaton, Notts. The balls and mushrooms are a bit plasticy, but free play and quite popular apparently. The White Lion is a brewpub so good for beer, and only a short walk from Long Eaton rail station. Attachments:

Following Tony(Barbelman)'s diligence in publicizing Pete Farrelly's Bar Billiards Quarterlies, on his Witney website, much more is now known.......Although Leicestershire's participation extended back a decade further, here is a record of its activity in the early 1990's:

Hello From Nottingham!
There is a small but dedicated team of Bar Billiards enthustiasts in Nottingham, We practice at the Newshouse Inn, which is a fine pub with a working table in good order.
We meet to practice on a Monday night. Now that the association has been growing and the standard is going up, we have started to look for matches.
With this in mind I have personally visited (on my push bike) almost all of the pubs listed as having a bar billiards table on this thread, the results are as follows, and i'm sorry but its not good news.
Rum Runner - Didn't go there as Retford is practically Doncaster (hence the postcode) However a phone call revealed that they have a table in working order with occasional players but no team as such. The landlord John was very enthusiastic and explained the table was refurbished about a year ago.An exploratory visit and hopefully a match are in the offing.
The News house - good table, friendly staff, great beers and a thriving bar billiards community. all welcome on a Monday night.if anyone reading this wishes to drop by please do, you will be more than welcome.
The Vat and Fiddle - This is the castle rock brewery pub and they do have a table, it is continually missing parts, balls, batteries, bits of mechanism etc, we have been down once a quarter to assess the situation as it is our best hope of having a match up and it has not worked in the last 18 months.
The Grove - Shut down many years ago.
The Plough - The Nottingham brewery pub, has not had a table for at least 6 years, excellent beer, the Nottingham extra pale ale is the best i have ever had.
The White Lion Bramcote - a Greene king pub of excellence, very nice surroundings and beer, has not had a bar billiards table for over 9 years .
The Steamboat Inn - Beautiful setting on the Erewash canal, got rid of their bar billiards table over 5 years ago and now have a pool table, you can still see the screw holes where the score slider used to be, uncomfortably cold pint of tasteless beer.
The White Lion Long Eaton - does have a table as stated and photographed, plasticy mushrooms, broken mechanism (clockwork) and someone stole the red ball, it is used as a beer rest and consequently the felt is stained and sticky, management will probably never sort this out as they don't really care, no-one plays as ...one cannot have a proper game .
So there you have it , 4 tables in the whole of Nottinghamshire and only two that actually work.. a sad state of affairs.
Its worth mentioning that word has got around to the owner of The Lion at Basford who is considering installing a table after one of our members (Amy Aplin) had a chat, the Lion is a great pub and im sure that things would gather momentum quickly if one was installed.
Ill keep my ear to the ground for any tables that are currently off the radar and keep you all up to date.
I hope this information is of use to any visiting Bar Billiards Enthusiasts and will find its way on to the map.
Many Thanks
Stephen Smith

I've been drinking quite regularly in both these pubs for the many years, and have had cause to visit both within the last week, and neither have ever had a Bar Billiards Table to my knowledge. If they have got one they're keeping them very secret. This good quality table was installed at the Chandlers Arms, Shearsby, Leic, by the licensee around a year ago. £1 a go.

Thanks for your update, Littlemark. I have deleted the Cow & Plough and the Grainstore from the AEBBA Map, and added the Chandlers Arms: good looking table as you say and a good old country pub.
Have also amended the list of venues contained within this thread.
All reports are gratefully received.

Have deleted the Plough Keyworth from the list of Notts tables, also from the AEBBA map.
Have copied the last half of your post onto the "BBs in Gloucestershire" thread for separate action.
