SWAN (Worthing) V WARREN CLUB (Worthing)
RESULTS (match played at Swan 9th August 2007)
M Squire 3120 N Brown 3440 R Taylor 6910 P Barnett 1710 D Mahy 7040 G Ridley 6070 P Oakley 5570 T Burgess 720 B Holt 5820 N Higgins 3100
Interesting table!. Mat kicked off with a 2k, both players then proved how difficult it was to get the break back for most of the game until Nick, with impeccible timing, got the break back and played the bar to sneek the game at the end. 0-1, with the Swan losing their break. Barney did not take advantage of his break. Roger gets a 5K break in the middle of the game to kill it. 1-1 Gary kicks of with 1.5k. Doug comes straight back with 2.5k. Gary hits back again with 3.5k and Doug touches up on 4.5 k, 1000 in front with about 30 seconds to go. Gary on the table as the bar goes. 900 needed with all balls left. Plays a white into the 200, kindly kiss off another ball to fluke the white, with the red still left. 4 balls left, 600 needed. Tries to put one into the 100 but unfortunately (?) pegs it. 2-1. Phil kicks off with too many for Tony to recover. 3-1. Neil and Barry share a scrappy game with Barry getting the break back too many times. 4-1.
Looking forward to the return on Monday, at the Gardeners.

SWAN (Worthing) V WARREN CLUB (Worthing)
RESULTS (match played at Gardeners Arms 13th August 2007)
With the Swan leading the first leg 4-1, and receiving three breaks in this leg, it was never going to be easy but should have been straightforward on what amounted to a neutral table, which ran for only 16 minutes!! For those of you who know the Swan table this is very much a sprint.
Game 1 Gary gets off to a great start, leaving Roger to play the bar out, but needing another 30 seconds. 1-0 Game 2, more or less a repeat of the first, with Doug failing short by about 60 seconds. 2-0 Game 3, again, a repeat but with the Swan again falling short agan, 3-0, and the match score now 4-4 Game 4. Neil on break looking confident but plays a forcing short. Takes peg and worse gives Phil the break back. Phil kills the game with a slow but sure 5k. 4-5 Game 5, Barry too strong for Tony 4-6 to the Swan.
G Ridley 6030 R Taylor 5230 N Brown 6420 D Mahy 5430 P Barnett 6240 M Squire 5190 N Higgins 260 P Oakley 5370 T Burgess 1390 B Holt 8010
Looks a very good venue for Bar Billiards, choice of real ales, good table, and the food was excellent. Looking forward to playing here again. Could this be the new home venue for the Warren Club?

Phil Oakley to break in the fourth anainst Phil Oakley I should imagine this was a close game, between two such evenly-matched players.....

The Preston Brewery Tap are Champions again !!!!
Each game went as follows
Chis Reeves had the break against Barry Holt in the first, chris made about 7500 before missing, they had another go each and Chris the got the break back again but only made a further , 1400, Barry then got the break back and ran it out only to lose by 640. C Reeves 8970 - 8330 BHolt
I went on second as Nigel was still on his way home from Reading , I played alan Messer, he made 1500 and left me really awkward shots , i missed and he missed until 6 minutes in I black pegged, Alan with 10 minutes gone was about 3200 up , I eventually got the break back and made 7k and touched. Two nil R Wooton 7900 - 3600 A Messer
Nigel made it back in time to keep the breaks in order and he went on against Matt Squire, Matt went off with just under 3000, Nige got the break back and made about 7000, Matt fought cback back but ran out of time, 3 nil N Senior 7330 - 5720 M Squire
Gareth was on fourth against Doug Mahy, Gareth missed the opening break with the white spinning out he went up the table for a few shots and opened up the scoring with 250. Doug then made 120, Gareth got the balls back and again attempted the break shot, the white whipped out again but went down the 200 hole !!, he then sorted himself out and ran out the table with a staggering 23380 BREAK !!!!!!, total score 23630, he would have made 25000 if the break was from start to finish, but what a fantastic break , well done mate !!, four nil
Down to the last game, Roger Taylor against Marcus, Roger pegged his opening break and gave Marcus the balls back , Marcus made 2800 , Roger got the balls back and the game was over , 4 -1 M Chipman 3170 - 10790 Roger Taylor.
7 - 3 to the Tap overall,
A great night of Bar Billiards, follwed by fresh crusty bread , Pate and Cheeses.

Well done the Tap and well done Lloydy.
Reading the write-up, I cannot think of a better example of a player struggling to begin with and managing to "read a table" and compensate to perfection.
Well done again.
