Some recent discussions, where we were bemoaning the difficulty of some of the tables in the non-coastal regions of Sussex, led me to find this extract of a post from Nigel on the General Board : Today, I managed a personal milestone with a 20k break off the spot in the Brighton Off the Spot competition at the Stadium - not bad considering the clock was 17mins. I had a bit of a moment on 19,950, rimming the split round the 100 as the bar dropped, but played a good 20-30 shot and cleared the final balls to do it. Steve Mariner tells me that I am only the 2nd player to have ever acheived the feat in Sussex (the other one being him) and that entitles me to one of his nice blue T-shirts. So, there's only been two off-the-spot 20k breaks, but what about ordinary 20k breaks in Sussex ? A trawl around the SCBBA and Brighton websites reveals that since 1993 there have been as many as 99 - sixty of them made at the Stadium. Here is a list of the tables they were achieved on : Blue Ship, Billingshurst 1 Brewery Tap, Brighton 4 Bridge, Newhaven 1 Bull, Hastings 2 Bulls Head, Fishbourne 1 Downview, Worthing 2 Dyke Tavern, Brighton 4 Elms, Worthing 1 Manor, Hastings 1 Rising Sun, Horsham 3 Roffey S& SC,Horsham 2 Romans, Southwick 4 Roundhill Tavern,Brightn 2 Stadium, Hove 61 Swan, Worthing 1 Warren Club, Worthing 2 Wheatsheaf, Bognor 1 Windmill, Southwick 15 Anyone want to add to any of this - or challenge it - or just pass a comment - please feel free to do so. My own observation is that there have only been half-a-dozen "special moments" north of the Downs.

Tommo,
Just to add to that
There were 3x 20K breaks at the Dyke in one match in Brighton Cup Semi earlier in the season.
Amazing number from the Stadium!!

Have now included those three on the list.
Is the Roffey figure accurate, Gareth ? Presumably they were both achieved in the last year, and by yourself.

yeah thats correct 2x at roffey.
The figure from Hastings must be wrong with the likes of Deeprose and Taylor playing and I'm suprised by the figure from the Tap (we need to get our finger out team) :)

I did a 23.010 at the Lewes Masters at the Bridge, Newhaven. It was the pub table, although moved and relevelled.
There have been 3 at the Tap. 2 from me and 1 from Lloydy this year. I did have one also in the summer league as well, not sure if that really counts though.
Did you get Reevesy's 24.300 at the Stadium this year and Kt's 21k at the Windmill.
Notice there are none at the Swan, although I did get a 20k score on there this year.
Just out of interest Tommo, who are the most prolific 20k break posters in Sussex, I am guessing but I would imagine Steve Mariner has probably got around a third of those breaks.

Have added those recent ones in. Guys, you're the ones supplying the inforrmation, I've just lifted it from the Sussex and Brighton websites. ;) Yes, Mario has hit one third of all 20k breaks, and an even higher percentage of those over 25k - almost all, in fact.

Just to add to this, these are the number 20k breaks made by players in Sussex and whether they were at the Stadium or not. John Slee is the other member of the 20k club but he made his at the Mermaid Open. Looking at just inter league scores on Steve's website I would agree with Gareth that Deeprose and Taylor probably made a few more in Hastings. Also I would imagine that Steve has made a few more around Sussex than just 5 away from the Stadium. BTW the 20k at the Swan is score not break so I wouldnt include that.

Hi Nige, Tommo, yes I have made others around Sussex, not sure how many, had several at the Romans, I’ll see if I can find those details. Have made 4 or 5 at the Windmill, mostly in Btn Singles where I made 2 back-to-back against Alan Brack. A rare occurrence in that Singles match was that I managed to pot the last ball down the 100 hole 3 times without Alan playing a shot in between. How so? Alan won the first, but I finished off potting the last ball down the 100 hole. Leg 2, I ran out for 22k potting last ball again. Then I won the toss in the decider, took first break and ran table out for 24k, once again potting last ball.
I have also made a few 20k breaks in Surrey league (Scud, Caterham Club, also 2 or 3 in the Dutch open, if you count this, including the final where I was 20,500 down to Paul S, and ran out for 21,500).
tommo if you look at the Surrey high break trophy you will see my name there.
And Nige you are correct, Julian and Sean did make many in Hastings.

Stats are nearly right Nige - I've had 7 20k breaks in Sussex (have had 3 at the stadium, not 2) ;)

Are you still counting Chris? I'm in double figures now and I can't count that far. ;)
This may be an interesting stat to keep on the Susex site. Would be difficult to initially get up to date, but relativley easy to maintain. What do you think?
Just thought, Chris and myself had one each at one-day inter league 2006. Same table and the following game. Do the figures above include one day Nige?

So we can add 2 more to Chris' tally - seems I did him a disservice :P Mario has also sent me a list of 20k breaks at the Romans (including a 24k by Mark Brewster) which I will also add. I think an ongoing list would be worth doing. I also think that 20k breaks outside Sussex are worth including also, I have done a couple in opens and Lloydy and Reevesy also did one each at Oxford. May have to raid a few peoples memory banks, as I am sure KT will have a few to add as has Steve Mariner as he mentioned above. I will post on here what I know as I think I will be fairly accurate going back 10 years, but it may be a bit more difficult going beyond that. It would be interesting if some other counties could also get involved, maybe even a nationwide 20k club. (although I am not going to add up all of Milko's 20ks!!!) I think, It is certainly a milestone for any bar billiard player. On this topic, well done to Milhouse who recently knocked in his first ever 20k break in the Oxford singles.
