Well done to Nigel Senior yesterday who won the Mermaid Open. He played really well all day including beating me with a break of 21300 to beat my first leg score of 19500. He also knocked out , Mark Brewster, Pete Farrelly and Mark Trafford in the final.
Cheers for the curry Nige

Well done Nigel. You even managed to cope with the flying tennis ball situation (one whizzed in from the garden over the table and smashed my glass of orange next to me while I was scoring your game with Pete). It shook me up more than you, but even so you had to play a couple of tentative shots before recovering your composure. Well done !

Thanks guys for the kind words.
The tennis ball incident was probably the strangest one I have encountered when playing bar billiards - it was a very accurate throw to knock over the pint glass!
I played three tough tables (1,2 & 3) before getting the chance to play the really nice one against Richard on table 9 - but I was under pressure all the way in that game so I was just happy to run it out, but I think we will see even bigger scores on it this year.
Beating Mark Brewster was exciting on the 100 hole after he missed the 200 to win, well done to Reevesy for adding the scores up after the bar!
Well done to Mark Trafford on his first final, I think it was a bad toss for him to lose in the final, and after his opening break I could see that the table was tough and I was able to suss it out to build a winning lead.
Finally, well done to Brian Daniels and Kady and the other organisers/helpers, the day ran very smoothly. Brian hinted he had some big plans for next year but didn't elaborate.....

Congratulations Nige and well done, especially when coping with someone trying to tamper with the match balls ;D ;D

It wasn't as accurate as you might think!!!!! the ball was supposed to be coming to me in the opposite direction.

May I add my congratulations as well to Nigel......a worthy champion.
I will be losing my No 2 spot in the rankings if I do not watch out. :( Regarding the tennis ball incident, it wasn't the only time the ball came in, because it came flying past mine & Rays heads as I was marking his game on table 4. :o
What a waste of time that was, as he lost a 19,000 break when playing the split with the last two balls & taking the peg out. ::) He lost the game by 100 but won the match.
Bring on my favourite tournament............Sussex. :) No tennis balls there I hope.!!
Keith.
