Thanks Tony. I also would like to thank the organisers, sponsors & Inland Revenue club for all their hard work over the weekend. Thanks also to Hayley for supporting me all day & to Sparky, who must have scored at least 3 of my matches.
The Sussex Open has always been my favourite on Home soil, so great to win it again. Sorry to Milko, stopping him in his Hat-trick bid. He didn`t really get warmed up in his first match and still looked a bit "cold" when i put him in to bat. Two teammates next in Ricky & Ian, never easy to play your best mates but managed to overcome that. Taking on Lloydy on Hayley`s table felt very strange. It was certainly different than at home :-/ Best table in the hall had to be Charladys` new top. I had 19k & 17k breaks over the weekend on it. It`s a goodun ;)
Last year was absolutely fantastic for me, i`m pretty sure it won`t happen again. But i have started a tournament earlier this year................... ;D ;)

Congratulations KT on your first Sussex Open title as a Sussex-based player. 8-) I know that means a lot to you.
It was a super day, but mention of Milko prompted me to check on his progress and I note that he only won one round yet carried off the award for 'furthest senior'. Lovely fellow that he is, but is that right ? Not long turned 50, he's a mere sprog. :o

Congratulations Kevin, pity I couldn't stay to see the final. Thanks for the mention but I enjoy scoring (except when tired from too much work :() , which has the bonus of being the best seat in the room ......anyway I scored for other people too 8-)
Well done to Ray as well.

Tommo, it was Ian Lelliott who picked up the furthest senior if I remember rightly.

Tommo, it was Ian Lelliott who picked up the furthest senior if I remember rightly. Sorry mate, memory playing strange tricks. It had been a long weekend, I worked out I played 16 frames of bar billiards in all. Well done in our own personal 'mismatch'. Thought I'd try to bottle it up, but your ability to clear the table of a 'difficult' load of balls was awesome. :o

I will confirm Nigel's knack of clearing the table. He did it to me in our 3rd round match. The holes seemed to get much larger when he was at the table.I knew what sort of match it was going to be after he went off with around 6000 in the first after I put him on and my first shot rimmed the 100 hole and pegged. At least I played better in the 2nd game after eventually mastering the break.I really must learn not to give so many chances,I got away with it in the first match but Nigel only needs 1 chance, thats why he is up there with the elite and the reigning Mermaid Open champion

Cheers for the compliments Tommo and PeteM, unfortunately I lost the knack of clearing the table against Steven Sheard in the quarters....
There is certainly a technique to playing these tournament tables, especially after they have been used for two days of competition. With the level of the players, you don't get much time to work out tables, and I remember when I started it was often way too late when I had worked out how to play a table.

Well done Kevin on winning this for the 5th time, you were the best player by far on the day so it was well deserved. Well played against me with that fabulous break of over 16k on the tricky table 2 after I came off early on my break. Great to watch but wish it was against someone else. :'(

I see that there is now the full transcript of the Sussex Open and of the Sussex Masters now available to view on the SCBBA website. :)
(You can access a link on here via the General Bar Billiards Discussion board using the thread Links to other websites.)

According to the headlines that run along the top of the Sussex site, it says 'Kevin Tunstall wins the Sussex Open for the 4th time' but it is actualy 5 times. I suppose he wouldn't miss one would he !! ;D
o.k I'm only jealous. :)
