Springbok Club 3 Three Bees 2
I missed the first two games.
Bill 2410 John 1290
Gary 4370 Lin 2080
Chaz 490 Clacky 5370 Clacky started brightly and that was about it. Chaz had plenty of visits, but simply the balls would go down for him.
Mike 1130 Dave 3520 Dave took control from the off and Mike was left with a lot to do. Both played steady, but Dave got the measure of the break better than his opponent.
Trevor 3130 Steve 2250 This was a game of to and fro with both Steve and I snatching the lead from each other at every visit. Luckily I got to the table last to hit the winning break as the bar dropped.
As ever great to welcome our friends from the Windmill.

Springbok Club 3 Stout House A 2
Gary 2000 Tony 1990 A game that offered so much, but both players got tied up at the bottom of the table, both Gary and Tony had chances and it was a fortunate finish to give Gary the point
Trevor 1430 Brian (Chelsea) 3480 I started with 4 breaks in a row and whilst Chelsea found the break challenging at the start i had no such issues!!. I had my chance on my second visit but messed it up and Chelsea eventually got the break and put me to the sword.
Chaz 1080 Brian L 2100 A decent game this with both players using their snookers skills to test the table. Brian started well and was unlucky to lose all his points after the ball whipped out onto the BP. Chaz got his head down and was unfortunate not to get more from the game. Brian eventually got his lost points back and more to get over the line.
Bill 3750 Jim B 1950 Bill was in control from the start, eased into the break and marched ahead. Jim initially found the break a bit of an issue but did get it sorted, but too late in the game to do anything about Bills lead.
Mike 1370 Barry 1190 A similar game to the first with both players pressing for the lead and making errors, Mike kept his head down to take a bit f a lead, but Barry kept pressing, it was the final ball down the 100 pocket that secured the win for Mike.
A good night of billiards, a good laugh and a bit of banter thrown in for good measure.

Springbok Club 2 The White Hart 3
Mike 1020 John 2220 A bit of a shaky start from John allowed Mike to stay in touch, John was finding the break a bit awkward but as the table warmed up so did he and eventually pulled himself over the line.
Bill 1970 Trevor 1920 Yep, that close all the way through... Trevor was unlucky with a couple of shots, whilst Bill was pulling some classic shots out of the bag. The game came down to the wire with Bill needing the 100 pocket to secure the win.
Gary 2130 Dave 1920 An ealry slop by Dave let Gary in, but even though he had a modest break it did not put too much light between them. Dave persevered and clawed back some points, Gary lost 3500 on the way, but did enough to claim the point.
Chaz 830 Barney 2260 Barney was playing a Captains innings and made the early move, Chaz who is new to the game was making some inspired shots and frankly was unlucky, but as time goes by he will reverse these losses. Barney showed some inspired potting to build his score and even the game up.
Trevor 1820 Barney (4PR) 2260 (yes the same as the previous game) I broke, found the break and then left up short. Barney came back and it was fairly even along the way. Both had difficulty getting the balls back, I lost a modest score, which gave advantage to Barney who getting the break back nosed in front. With the bar dropped | had an opportunity but needed 300 from the last two balls, I got 30!!!!! but was close to the 200.
A decent enough evening with our good friends, always nice to catch up with a bit of banter.

Alfold SCSC 1 Springbok Club 4
Dave 380 Bill 2870 Bill took an early lead and Dave found himself chasing the game, and finding the pegs at almost every visit. Bill persevered and put together a couple of helpful breaks. Poor Dave added more pain when hitting the BP near the end, it was not his night.
Kelly 1160 Trevor 2380 I messed up early letting Kelly in to take a modest lead. The balls then got trapped at the bottom of the table and we both had to work hard to get the break back, which thankfully I did. I managed to put a fairly decent score up, which left Kelly all to do with no time on her side.
Malcolm 890 Mike 1410 Both Malc and Mike seemed determined to make a close game of this as they could, with friendly breaks going one way then the other. Mike broke the deadlock with a mid game break, which Malc could not match, but to be fair he did not get a lot of luck.
Garry 1290 Gary 3250 A slow start for both the G's, with neither making an impression. Young G eventually got his eye in and put a decent break together, but in all honestly had Mature G been on form, this result could have been reversed.
Jason 3660 Chaz BFZ
Chaz let Jason in straight away and he was not taking any prisoners putting together string of flowing breaks. Chaz did out points on the board but decided to BP with the last ball, he will learn!!
Great night, lovely grub (thanks Delia)

Springbok Club 2 The Limeburners 3 Chaz 760 Dick 4970 Though Dick found the break a challenge he had the the quality and experience to put decent scores together, Chaz simply had no real table time. Bill 4120 Chip 690 Chip left the break up short allowing Bill to take control, with a little bit of luck and some decent play Bill put the game out of Chip's reach. Trevor 560 Rick 6780 Well Rick had no problem with the break and I found myself the unwilling spectator. Rick controlled from beginning to end, I had no real response. Gary 4660 Bill 1450 Bill made a bright start, however, once at the table Gary took control to push ahead. bill was unfortunate not to put more points on the board. Mike 1010 Brian 2070 Brian took the early lead and Mike never really got going, being his first game of the season, Mike was a tad rusty, but none the less gave his all. Brian kept control, chipped away and secured the point. A great night, plenty of chat and decent rolls enhanced by Bills onions,

Springbok Club 2 Roffey Club 3
In order of play
Robin 1680 Sleesy 6180 I did not see the game as late on parade, however, Robin told me he was much of a spectator and Sleesy played well. Robin having not played for a quite a while and was a bit rusty. It was good to have Robin helping us out as he now lives a distant away.
Bill 2410 Twiggy 3040 A nervous start for Twiggy handed Bill the chance to press into the lead, one that he held for most of the game. Twiggy was finding the break a challenge which added to his anxiety, but eventually he pulled himself over the line.
Trevor 1880 Sniffer 3740 Sniffer let me in ealry leaving the break up short, and I should of capitalise on this more. Sniffer was working the table well to get the balls back but again struggled with the break. He found the break near the end to claim the point, but honestly he would have smashed me sooner had he found it earlier.
Gary 3650 Dick BP Another player who could not get to grips with the break was Dick and after a modest start he made a mistake and Gary forged ahead without any problems with the reverse handed break. Dick pressed on and was unlucky not to have got more from the game, but nudged the BP going for a difficult shot.
Trevor 2010 Moose 1790 Trevor playing under the 4 player rule. Moose again found the break a bit quirky and allowed me in early, he then got to grips and nudged ahead, this was pretty much the tone of the game until as the bar dropped he let me back in and i managed a match winning break, with some large chunks of luck along the way.
A great night and a good result for the BOk, but we acknowledge the boys did not fancy our break.
We are grateful they allowed us to reverse the fixture or we could not of put a team out. Next week we only have three players to date, so if anyone fancies helping us out it would be appreciated.

Hi All
Unfortunately we have been struggling to get 5 regular players at Springbok Club for the past two years and owing to this we are considering pulling out of the league. This is one last desperate throw of the dice to see if there are any players willing to support us to keep going. We realise being out of the way may not be the most attractive package, but even if someone was willing to play away games it would make it better for us and we would hope to drag someone in to play home games.
Please either PM me or leave a reply here if you can help us.
Thanks in advance
Trevor

Roffey Club 5 Springbok Club ABF0 In order of play Sniffer 7340 Bill 940 Obviously Bill had his mind on his lambing ewes and could not get going. Once Sniffer got to the table he blew any chance of Bill delivering the win and built a score worthy of a champion, Bill sat patiently waiting for the axe to fall for the final Chop and was just grateful Sniffer did not Ram the result down his proverbial! Sleesy 6150 Trevor 1080 Trevor found the break, but simply could not do the one up and Sleesy made him pay, though Trevor had another good opportunity to build on his score the one up eluded him and in the words of the Greta Stranglers "Nice 'n' sleazy, nice 'n' sleazy Does it, does it, does it every time". Twiggy 3730 Graham (Not Robin) 250 I have never seen a player, play so well and not put any points on the board, poor Graham built decent scores on several occasions only to peg out. Twiggy was not much better and there was a time the scorer called for a lumberjack. It was almost a case of Twiggy by name and nature, however, experience shone through in the end and Roffey's very own British cultural icon and former teenage model took the third point. Moose 6090 Gary 4830 Gary set the bar and gave Moose it all to do, the pendulum swung one way then the other and it was a late spurt from the Moose, loose in the Hoose that secured his win. In recognition to the Moose's fantastic season JT has spared no expense to make this fitting tribute . All Hail The Moose (Hope you approve Lee...) Dicktor Meldrew 10510 Trevor (again) 2270 Mr Meldrew had the break, which was great as Trevor had plundered a large bowl of curry as the handle was pulled on the table. Dick was on fire and between mouthfuls of curry and belching Trevor could only look on in awe. When he did get to the table he suffered the one up block again and though got two decent breaks together that was that. Well done to the Champions, worthy winners.

Springbok Club 3 Stout House "F" 2
Bill 3290 Colin 1380
Colin had a slow start allowing Bill to take control, things were not quite going for Colin and he found the break indifferent, which continued to let Bill in. Bill just played his steady game, head down, slowly building a lead Colin was unable to claw back.
Gary 2370 Stuart 1770 Both players had a bit of a mare, with Gary losing points and Stuart just not getting the rub of the green. An early error by Stuart let Gary build a 2K break and after that it just got messy with the table loaded with balls.
Mike 600 Grant 3640 Mike was never in this game, was certainly one of his poorest performances for a while. Grant, however was steady and got his eye in ealry to build his score and command the game.
Trevor 1270 Scott 2730 A slow start from both players and when Scott left the break up short Trevor had the opportunity to take advantage, but missed a fairly easy pot. After that grant nosed in front and with a decent 1K break got the light between him and Trevor, who for all his attempts, simply could not get the balls down.
Gary (4 player rule) 7350 Dave 1900 Dave did not start as brightly as we expected and let Gary in quite early on. Gary built a decent score and then Dave hit back with an equally good score. Gary then got his head down realising Dave is more than capable of smashing in a decent score and produced a winning break.
A great night with the F's never a dull moment and really good to see that despite the loss they still enjoy their night.
GOOD LUCK JT with the hip op, hopefully you will be back to full fitness soon.

Springbok Club 3 Blue Ship 2
Graham 1270 Steve 2420 Steve struggled with the break, either leaving it short or missing by a whisker, which gave Graham a chance to build a score. Unfortunately his lack of playing time did not offer a real threat and Steve was able to steadily build a score to win the game.
Trevor 2490 James 1870 Not a pretty game really, James having similar issues to Steve and Trevor managing to put together 3 modest breaks to win this one. Both players lost points and found the pockets a little unforgiving.
Bill 1460 Simon 1070 A game of luck, with Simon having all the bad and Bill getting a rub of the green. Simon lost a lot of points along the way, but Bill remained focused to the end to secure the point.
Gary 9340 Mick 910 Well Gary had no problem with the break, when Mick left it short Gary hit in a 2K break. When Mick made the second error that was it, with Gary putting in 5K, which Mick had no answer for.
Mike 980 Ding 1870 Ding got to grips with the game early on and put her nose in front. Mike was not his normal positive self and tended to be a bit to respectful to the table allowing Ding to capitalise on his mistakes.
A good win for the Springbok Boys and though beaten our friends from the Blue Ship were extremely gracious.

Springbok Club 1 Blue Ship 4
(Not in order of play)
Gary 4960 James 1790 Quite a close game throughout and James was unlucky not to get more from it. Gary had a couple of decent breaks in the middle that settled the battle.
Bill 1930 Steve 2880 Again not a lot in this game with both Steve and Bill pushing each other all the way. A good break from Steve in the last stages of the game secured the point.
Graham 1150 Simon 2270 Graham kindly agreed to play and did not embarrass himself and kept the pressure on Simon. It was Simon's experience that won through with a match winning break at the end.
Trevor 1950 Mick 3860 Mick let me in early and I took a reasonable lead that Mick took some time to reduce. It was close throughout with both players having a chance to put the other to the sword. It was a break of about 2K from Mick as the bar dropped that won the match for the Ship.
Mike 2020 Vernon 4560 Mike applied pressure from the off and "Super Sub" Vernon needed all his skills to get his grip on the game. Vernon eventually found some rhythm with the break and there was little Mike could do.
Great evening, brilliant sandwiches, the top played really well.

Alfold SC 2 Springbok Club 3
Garry 1200 Bill 2100 A slow start from Bill let Garry in early, but he did not capitalise, letting Bill put some points on the board. The table then got choked with balls and both players struggled to the the balls back.
Kelly 1600 Trevor 840 I lost my points early on and Kelly took advantage.I could not get to grips with the table and Kelly played a steady game for a deserved win
Steve 1620 Mike 1300 A very close game though Mike had his nose in front for most of it. A superb shot up and down the table to hit the 200 pocket helped Steve over the line. He later admitted he was going for the 100, but hey still a good shot.
Dave 2280 Gary 2470 As expected Gary took the ealry lead and seemed to be in control, Dave struggling early on then found a second wind and strung together a great break leaving him the 100 pocket to secure the win with the final ball after Gary missed. Unfortunately in his words "He Choked" and only manged to roll the ball to the cushion, Gary did not have to be asked twice.
Malcolm 1530 Bill (4 player rule) 1550 Malcolm missed early on letting Bill in, but he too was having trouble getting the balls to drop. At the later stages Bill was ahead, when Malcolm came back sinking all the balls with a final 200 shot, only to be 20 short, it is a cruel game sometimes.
Great night, and great food thanks to Ann.

Springbok SC 3 The Mighty.. Stout House 'A' 2
Gary 5040 Jim 1620 Jim's first visit gifted Gary the table leaving the break short and Gary took full advantage. As much as Jim tried the balls were not dropping and Gary put in a couple of decent breaks to secure the win.
Bill 2270 Tony 3290 Tony flew out of the blocks leaving Bill in his wake, his first visit put a modest score on the bard, but when Bill let him back in Tony put a decent score up leaving Bill a hill to climb. Lady Luck was not with Bill with balls simply refusing to drop and another decent break sealed victory for Tony.
Trevor 2500 Chelsea 2320 A close affair this with Chelsea setting the target early on. Trevor hit back to close the gap and had the chance to storm ahead only to mess the break up. Chelsea also had his chances and it seemed nerves were getting to both players. A late flurry by Trevor after the bar had dropped gave him the point.
Mike 1430 JT 2210 The game started tentatively with neither player getting a grip on the table, before JT found his mojo and took the lead. Mike worked hard to get back into the game, but the balls were not doing what he wanted. JT kept his nerve to seal the win.
Gary (4 player rule) 2780 James 2510
James took the early lead but let Gary in who was not repeating his early performance. The lead was being wrestled from one to the other, before Gary eventually put some light between them. A very steady clear up by James almost stole the lead back, but Gary had dome enough.
A nice evening with the Stout House Lads, a fair result had it gone the other way, as not a lot in it.

Springbok SC 1 Southwater Club 4
Bill 450 Mel 4070 Mel got the break from the off and that was really the undoing of Bill, who when he got to the table struggled to make an impact.
Mike 780 Ollie 2660 Ollie left up short early on letting Mike in only to see his score of 1500 be snuffed out by a peg. Ollie was not letting that opportunity go and settled in to claim the point.
Lewis 520 Keith 5150 Keith found the break and put a commanding score on the board, Lewis was not having any luck with the balls and could do nothing to get back into the game.
Gary 1750 Tony Franks 5590 Tony left his first attempt of the break short letting Gary in to put 1500 on the board, but that was the only error Tony made and wrapped up the game with a decent couple of breaks.
Trevor 1830 Tony T 1300 Tony let Trevor in early and he put 1500 on the board. Tony fought back well and when Trevor lost a big score at the end had every chance to steal the game, however the lack of balls and time worked against him.
Nice evening, and wrapped up with some decent nibbles.

White Hart 3 Springbok Club 2
Niel 1440 Mike 2120
Mike started quite brightly and when Niel got to the table for his first visit he found the new top a little different to the previous one. Mike continued to out points on the board leaving Neil to chase and as much as he tried the balls were not working for him.
Barney 1820 Trevor 1360
Losing 1500 at the start done it for Trevor (just too good at the break!!). The game was nip and tuck from there and as the bar dropped Barney just had his nose in front. There was some excitement when it was evident that Trevor could still win with the balls left on the table, but Barney ensured that did not happen.
Sparrow 3330 Bill 2630
Another close game that Bill commanded for most of it, losing a break of 1K along the way. Sparrow struggled a little, but dug in deep at the death to pull himself over the line with a good clearing break.
Dave 490 Lewis 3080
Lewis started with a flourish and out a decent score on the board, unfortunately for Dave he just was not getting the rub of the baize and he simply could not get the balls to do down. Lewis played well and deserved his win.
John 7810 Bill (4 player rule) 600
The score reflects this game very well. John started and put a modest score on the board leaving Bill an opportunity to build on an early error. However, Bill could only put his finishing points on the board and the rest as they say is history, with John clearing the table with break of just very 6K
As ever a great night with our local opposition, the top is far better than the previous one so beware, once the lads get used to it they will be smashing in the scores. Great Shepherds Pie finished of the evening very well.

Springbok Club 1 Limeburners 4
Bill 1000 Chip 2110 A cagey game with both players starting slowly. Chip eventually got his nose in front and Bill worked hard only to peg out on 2K near the death to hand victory to Chip.
Robin 1940 Billy 2750 Billy took an early lead giving Robin work to do, which he did quite well. A second visit from Billy saw him extend his lead and though Robin got the break back he came up short and that was that.
Mike 300 Ricky 11280 A missed break at the start did not prevent Ricky from getting his eye in and smashing in two big breaks. Mike could only look on in awe.
Trevor 2670 Brian 1530 A game I was in front from the off leaving Brian it all to do. Frankly he was unlucky with the fall of the balls, in fact both players had their bit of bad luck along the way.
Gary 2250 Dick 6670 Dick let Gary in first off but he did not take advantage of the situation and on his second visit Dick put 4K on the board. Gary fell short at the second attempt and dick put him to the sword.
Pleasant night to kick on the New Year, Billy legendary onions, were simply that, blooming marvelous

Springbok Club 4 Alfold SC 1
Gary 7650 David 2290 David Started brightly mastering the break and putting a decent score on the board. Gary came back with his first break, but did not quite match Davids start. Davids second visit was not as fruitful and leaving the one up short handed Gary the opportunity to stride ahead, which he did. A good game with both players playing well.
Robin 3410 Steve 1020 Robin broke first and did not really have a flying start so Steve on his first visit pushed ahead. Robins second visit was better and he strung together a break to jump into the lead. Steve then got a bit unlucky with balls tied up and Robin claimed the second game.
Bill 2420 Malcolm 2000 Malcolm mastered the break but let Bill in early and he managed to get his nose in front. The balls then got tied up a little and the lead went from on player to the other. It was the late stage of the game when Bill had control of the table that won this one as Malcolm could only watch as he picked the balls of to clear the table.
Trevor 1460 Kelly 1620 Trevor broke twice and then let Kelly in and she took advantage of the early mistake. The game then got a bit tactical with the balls making their way to the bottom of the table and as much as he tried Trevor simply could not get the break back. Kelly kept her head and chose her shot well to clear the table with the 100 pocket with the last ball ensuring the point was hers.
Robin (4 player rule) 4390 Jason 1500 No even break gave Jason an opportunity to put a big score on the board, however, though a bright beginning he simply could not prevent Robin from getting the break back and to put commanding score on the board. Jason had little luck with getting the break back for himself and Robin secured the final game with a steady game.
A pleasant evening that saw both teams arriving in the same vehicle and actually the journey home was good humored despite the result. A big thanks to The Guvnor of the Stout House for providing a decent platter of sarnies.

Springbok SC 1 Roffet SC 4 Bill 1690 Moose 4140 A nervous start from both players with Moose finding the break a bit of a challenge but eventually he started to make some inroads. Bill was playing a steady game, but was experiencing balls whipping out of the pockets defying gravity. Once settled Moose played his usual steady game and the point was in the bag. Robin 4840 Twiggy 2380 After almost a year out Robin put the highly experienced Twiggy to the sword and his teams mates (that's Twiggy's) took much joy in his demise. The truth is that Twiggy made one simply error early on loosing his first break and that was that. Robin does not need asking twice and poor Twigs was playing catch up throughout. Gary 440 Sniffer 8890 One way street this game and it has to be noted Gary probably has never scored less than this in his billiard playing lifetime. Sniffer started well as expected, but Gary was not deterred coming back well only to loose the 1500 points he had accumulated. Sniffer really was not going to let that mistake go and put over 4K on the board with his next visit. Gary simply had no response. Trevor 2990 Glyn 4310 Glyn started OK but left the break short after a couple of goes and Trevor had the chance to push ahead, but put too fine a cut on the ball. Glyn then put his head down and Trevor had it all to do, making a valiant effort, but running out of time. Mike 2350 Dick 2690 A very close game this with the lead going from one to another. Dick took the ealry lead only for Mike to claw his way in front. Nerves, little mistakes kept both players in contention, but it was Dicks tenacity that won through. Back to our usual result, but there was promise from Springbok and we were not overrun. Well dome Roffey, thanks for the banter, it is always a joy

Stout House 'F' 1 Springbok SC 4
Colin 1540 Trevor 4330 One of those games when it came together for Trevor and Colin just did not get any luck. Trevor started well and Colin had to work to catch him, making mistakes that Trevor took advantage of.
Stuart 130 Bill 790 Stuart lost a lot of points that may have well reversed this result, but neither player really got going. Bill let Stuart in early but with a BP and a number of white pegs he really was against it. Bill did enough, but was also off colour.
Lee 310 Robin 4390 Good to have Robin back after a long bout of ill health and he clearly was not match rusty starting very positively. Lee made an early error when he did get on the table, which Robin used to his advantage putting the game beyond Lee's reach.
Grant 1490 Gary 1990 Gary started brightly, but this did not deter Grant who came back him well to even things up. Gary then appeared to get a bit jumpy making and started to make mistakes which gave Grant an opportunity to nibble away at Gary's modest lead. The bar and time came to the rescue and Gary was relieved to get the point.
Scott 3080 Mike 2340 Even balanced game that saw both Scott and Mike have every opportunity to put big scores on the board. Mike was steady throughout, however Scott found decent form to put the game out of his reach.
A different table than the last time we played on it a couple of weeks ago, bizarre. As ever a very nice evening with the 'Fs' who always make us welcome.

The Blue Ship 3 Springbok Club 2
Steve 3120 Graham 450 Graham left the break up short and Steve took full advantage. Being match rusty Graham found it hard to get into any kind of rhythm and Steve played steady throughout for a deserved win.
Gary 2290 Mick 3850 A competitive game this with a minor mistake deciding the winner. Both Gary and Mick started well putting together decent breaks, an error by Gary let Mick in and he did nit need to be asked twice.
Bill 1730 James 1540 A fairly even game this with both players pushing one another all the way. Bill managed to stick his nose in front as the bar dropped and James could only watch as he potted the remaining balls.
Trevor 200 Ding 1480 Having missed the break I let Ding in early, but she did not take advantage allowing me another chance, which I fluffed. Ding took control after that and put points on the board. I continued to make errors including a BP and that was that.
Trevor (4 player rule) 2290 Simon 1480 Simon started brightly but made an early mistake allowing me an opportunity to get in front. Simon was having no luck and I chipped away to secure the point.
Very pleasant evening topped of with a rather nice stew.

The usual weekly result from Springbok!!!!
Springbok 1 Three Bees 4
Lewis 570 Mike 1940 Both players started a little tentatively showing too much respect to the table, but eventually mike got into the flow and put points on the board. Lewis did very little wrong, the fact is the balls just did not go down for him as you would expect.
Mike 3360 Lin 1490 A close game this with Lin starting very brightly only to lose 1k early on. Mike was in very good form and took advantage of Lin's bad luck. Lin made a late fightback but time was not on her side.
Bill BP Steve 5390 Steve was in control from the off and made a confident break at the start. Bill was having one of those days when the pegs acted like magnets to the balls.
Gary 3500 Dave 4260 Dave really set the bar high at the stat putting over 2K on the board, but Gary hit back well until he lost the 1500 he had accumulated. Dave took full advantage putting another couple of grand on the board, but Gary was not out and had time been kinder may have taken the point.
Trevor 1170 John 3490 Early onslaught from John put 2k on the board and left me a mountain to climb, I simply could not get the balls back and only managed to chip away. Near the death John did get the break back and that was it.
Though another disappointing result for Springbok, we had a great night with the Three Bees.

Springbok SC 1 Alfold SSC 4 Alice 360 Garry 2230 Alice popped in to help us out having not picked up a cue for a year. She made every effort and lost more than she recorded. Garry was never in danger and was very considerate throughout. Gary 7550 Steve 680 I never saw this game as covering the bar for Gary, from what I can make out Steve let him in early and that was that. Trevor 220 Malcolm 2080 Mmmmm not sure what to say apart from I was pants lost all my points and found the pegs more often then not. The Major was slow to start but got going and was never under any threat. Bill BP Dave 1660 Dave started brightly and gave Bill the tough job of catching him, which he did fairly well until the ball took out the black peg. Mike 1910 Jason 2750 Jason put the early pressure on and Mike had it all to do. both players played well and either were deserving of the point. Another 4 & 1 loss for Springbok, things have to change soon, don't they?

Stout House 'A' 4 Springbok Club 1
Bazza 760 Trevor 940 This game set the tone of the evening, both Bazza and I lost more points that we recorded, were left frustrated and bewildered. I did enough to scrape home.
JT 1630 Mike 760 Another game of frustration and balls kicking out of pockets costing both JT and Mike points. JT did get an early break that gave him a lead that Mike could not catch.
Tony 2380 Gary 2180 A better game though both players should have scored more the way they played. Gary took the lead and looked very much in control, but Tony was having none of that and a decent break at the end saw him nose in front with 1 ball to go. Gary took on the 200 pocket for the win rather than the safer 100, but the gamble did not pay off and Tony sank the ball for a deserved win.
Chelsea 2490 Bill 1100 Chelsea played a steady cautious game slowly building on his score, Bill did little wrong, but simply the table was being a bit of a git and he had bad luck after bad luck. Chelsea remained focused on developing his score and secured the point.
James 1220 Mike 710 (4th player rule) James started very brightly finding the break consistently only to be undone by the table. Mike struggled as he did in his first game and found himself loosing points after points. In fairness James would have smashed a decent score in if the table was a little kinder and Mike would have been hard pushed to match him.
Do not usually comment on a table, but on this occasion both sets of players were left bemused by the way it played. It may not have altered the result, but scores would certainly been a lot higher.
Anyway a pleasant evening with decent sandwiches to finish off with.

Roffey SSC 4 Springbok Club 1 @ Southwater SC
Sniffer 3500 Lewis 320
The score line is not a true reflection of the game as Lewis had a nasty whip out that took away the BP. Sniffer was always a nose in front but Lewis was pressing and without the peg could have been a bit of a different outcome.
Dick 4700 Trevor BP
Once I had a ball pop back out on the one up it was toast for me. Dick was in fine fettle and looked like he had turned back the clock (must have been the girly drink he was supping) as he took control and put me to the sword.
Glyn 2010 Bill 1030 Both Glyn and Bill had a slow start, but eventually Glyn got to grips with the task in hand. Bill was just bloody unlucky with balls popping out of the holes, he certainly was not a million shades of Glyn.
Twiggy 5480 Mike 1060 Blimey, reckon Twiggy is possibly the best player I have ever seen (actually he asked me to put that in). Twiggy was always in control and Mike had it all to do but he did not discredit himself at all. A bit more luck and he would have put a bit of pressure on Twig and then who knows.
Moose 1940 Gary 3580 "Please write something nice about me" (quote Moose). Okay I like the colour of your eyes! Now to the game. A bright start by Gary put him in control, which is just as well as at the later stages Moose was all over him like a rash. Both players were a bit unlucky and on a better top (no disrespect) would have smashed decent scores.
Well as expected an evening full of banter, thank you to Southwater Club for the sandwiches, very nice and appreciated.

Southwater SC 4 Springbok SC 1 (Another 4 & Gary!!)
Tony F 3090 Trevor 1090 Well I started well with the split/break and then mis-cued and missed the target ball for the one up, however Tony did not take advantage and only came back with modest score. It wasn't the prettiest of games, Tony ground out the win, I had a late flurry.
Tony T 1990 Gary 2770 Gary started well and then sort of stopped and Tony was right on his back. Gary kept nudging in front, but was not putting enough light between him and Tony. who wasn't going to roll over. It was a late rush at the end that sealed the victory, but could have easily gone the other way.
Ray 2470 Bill BP Another bright start by Bill, however this simply was one of his unlucky games with balls whipping out and taking down the pegs. Ray was steady and assured, though he too had to ride some luck.
Mel 1780 Lewis (Tudor) 750 We welcomed Lewis to the team and he gave a steady performance, though obviously needs a couple of games under his belt to get the eye in. Mel was never in danger in this game and played cautiously to ensure the point went his way.
Keith 2280 Mike 1640 Mike gets better each week and the point will come, he was again unlucky and lost as many points as he secured. Keith had it all to do and put together a decent break at the end to get over the line.
Both teams struggled with the table as you can see from the scores, it is not a bad table in any sense, just blooming awkward.
Night ended with decent sandwiches, thanks to the lads at Southwater for their hospitality.

Springbok SC 1 The White Hart 4
Jimmy 1330 John 1550. A close game with the novice Jimmy pushing John all the way. John could not get the split, which evened things up a little.
Ken 1360 Dave 2770 Dave controlled the game from an early stage, but Ken fought back well and showed promise.
Mike 3160 Neil 3990 A good game this with both players pushing each other to the limit. Neil nudged in front with a 3.5K break leaving Mike to chase and given a few more minutes it could have been different.
Gary 6920 Trevor 20
Trevor made an early mistake and Gary took advantage with a 4 K break. Trevor simply had no reply and the game was won.
Trevor 1940 Sparrow 2290 This was another good game with me and Sparrow really pushing each other. There was never a clear winner until the end when i made one mistake, lost the points and let Sparrow clear all but one of the balls.
This result could have so easily been reversed. It was that close and an enjoyable night. Well done White Hsrt, we will have our day !!!!!

The Limeburners 4 Springbok SC 1
Chip 1910 Robin 890 Robin was unable to get going whatsoever and Chip had a easy ride. Clearly a case of first game blues, a need to blow the cobwebs away.
Brian 2880 Bill 1370 A slow start with both players snatching the lead from one another. Eventually Brian got to grips and putting together a decent break at the death put Bill to the sword.
Dick 3500 Trevor BP Another slow start and either player could get going. Dick eventually put two decent breaks together, I was simply pants.
Bill 1200 Gary 2520 This was a close game throughout with both Gary and Bill working hard to stay within touch of one another. Eventually Gary got his eye in and did enough to take the point.
Rick 6670 Mike 630 The score does not really reflect how well Mike played, but pegs are pegs and they win or lose you games. Rick was in control once he got the balls back and with his eye in e was never gonna miss the split.
Great night to start the season off with. Bills onions were brilliant as ever. Lovely sandwiches and chips accompanied them very well.

Roffey CC 2 Springbok Club 3 Jim 4600 Trevor 1580 I started OK, whilst Jim was having a bit of a mare, with 5 minutes to go I was looking good for a point , nope Jim smashed in a score to put my dreams to bed. Junkie 1700 Bill 2280 Bill started well and Junkie was on the chase, the balls got tied up for a bit with neither player able to clear until near the death when Bill got the break back to claim the game. Vernon 9170 Gary 1080 Sweet revenge for Vern, as he had promised Gary!! Gary was a spectator in this game after leaving the balls up short early on, which Vern took full advantage of. Mick 2420 Mike 2470 Yep, that close!! Mike did start steadily, whilst Mick worked hard to get the break, the table became clogged with the balls. A late spurt from Mick saw him with a break leaving himself short by 250 and Mike ensured he did not go anywhere near the black peg to seal the win. John 1170 Robin 6050 Robin started and finished well with two great breaks. John was unlucky not to get the break back, but the balls simply would not drop for him. A deserved win in the end for Robin. The double over the League 1 leaders!!! A great night in a decent little club, topped of with lovely sarnies.

Alfold SC 2 Springbok Club 3
Sam 1680 Robin 3120 A nervy start from Robin and Sam, which saw Robin just nose in front. Sam had a lot of bad luck which eventually took its toll and secured the first point for Springbok.
Major 1250 Trevor 1440 This was a thriller!!!!! Neither I or the Major could make anything with the break, in fact after I missed it first off neither of us ever got it. I was extremely lucky at the end knocking over both the white and black pegs in the same visit, fortunately the black went down last.
Garry 6720 Bill 1860 Bil flew out of the blocks and had the measure of the break from the start, however, Garry also was pretty slick and he smashed in a couple of decent breaks to take the point.
Dave 3790 Gary 4620 An extremely close game of two very different half's. Gary took the first half with 4+K, Dave stepped in with a 3610 in the second half, but the bar dropped, preventing him from snatching the game from Gary.
Kelly 1480 Mike 1130 A very even game that saw both players making errors. The lead went from one to another, but Kelly stuck her head down at the end to make it over the line first.
Lovely evening topped of with love;y rolls and jacket spuds with cheese.
