Very sorry to hear this, I think he was playing at the Corner House when I first came across him in the Eynsham league. Lovely guy, RIP. I bet he has already got a game up there with the other players taken from us over recent years.

Well thanks from all us Suffolk for a fun weekend and a very big pat on the back for Michelle and her crew for organising the event. I cant talk for anyone else but my room was very disappointing, not the cleanest and for a double room it was tiny. The lack of real ale certainly put a big damper on the weekend with all the real pubs a good 15 to 20 min walk away meaning no time between games to pop out and have a proper beer and on the Sunday morning being told the bar wouldnt be open by the time the first set games were due to start was a big blow, couldnt even get a glass of coke. But as I said, thanks to the organisers, they cant be blamed for the problems, the tournament itself ran like clockwork and im sure everyone enjoyed the playing side of things I would also echo those comments, definitely an improvement on the previous location but if thise partitions were going to be closed, they should have put some fans in there to at least circulate airflow. Not sure what room you had but we saw some of the doubles on the way out and they were massive compare to the singles! Must have just been the luck of the draw. Just to let you know on the beer front though, my mate Dave won't drink any fizzy stuff and he was ok with Atlantic. Top marks Michelle for negotiating the reduced bar prices, i looked at the full price, best part of 25% cheaper, if not more!

In 2019 Mark and I won the Guernsey pairs and this is raw proof of what Nigel is saying. Mark pretty much won every round before I got to the table bar one. Leaving me with very little table time to make a telling contribution in any of the games. Having said that, in one round Mark couldn't play the table at all and I scored over 9K of our 11K and won the match, it was a nightmare to be fair - his comments at the time were "about time you won us a round, laughing....". The better player will always want the break, only a pairing of equal ability will say otherwise. I think this make it quite interesting but its still a lottery with drawn player 1 and 2 being done random.

I play adhoc in this league as you know! Yet, my scores on that table since the restart speak for themselves..... If you want to start on about bad pockets and cushions....I suggest just about every table has this problem bar the oracle .. and for the record, another table I hit decent scores on in my bit part appearance

H/Ton CC 2 v Berinsfield 4 Keith Hollis 2600 v Jack Clements 2300----1-0 Roger Tomlin 2170 v David Naylor 2260 --- 1-1 Dave Gordon BP v John Boal 1590 ---- 1-2 Keith 1590 v Jack 2230-----1-3 Roger 2020 v David 1820----2=3 Dave 960 v John 2640------2-4 Vikings table not playing well apparently. Well I would put it like this, the break was there, one up and splits once you figure it out as I proved after the match as I was determined to see if it was really that bad to get the break on. No one during all 6 games cycled the break via 3 times, one up and split shot (any combination) the scores speak for themselves. If i remember rightly, hardly any size-able scores over 500 were lost in any of the games! It was just a nightmare to get the balls back - only happened in two games where both players had a go at the break. People can draw their own conclusions, but as a neutral table it was shocking! But it did lead to all of the games, bar the last one being decided in the last 2 minutes so any scoreline from 1-5 to 6-0 was possible last week.

I watched that game as it was on the table to the left of Mark and Sid's qtr final that I was also watching. FTR mark then ran that same table out for 24K in the semi, the games had to be timed as the bar dropped, but still an amazing score !
Was it the highest scoring table of the weekend - probably :)

I would also say the table played easier last night than it has been, still not to the standard it was last year but maybe its returning back to that form

Shock Result..... HCC 4 v Oracle A 2 Scores will follow. We were at home so I would say more of a surprise than shock, to be fair we got the dream draw, Mark v tim on 2nd with the break.... We just made the most of the chances, that came in the other games... 😁 My run of breaks came to an end in style coming out 4th....😁

Mark, slight correction, and cheers for the ositivw comment, the one up has been giving me nightmares for two months, even went to Jersey not wanting yo play it. First game, I tapped off on just under 6 game won, I lostthe3k in the se ond, so wanted it to look like I had run table out, as I had 3 breaks over3k each and Geoff failed to score on his visits....

Sounds a sensible approach - just one small point. Are you saying you draw the venues first and then best fit people to those venues, so the tables remain neutral, or are you saying the venues are drawn and you play where the hat puts you, if so you could end up on your table.

Some interesting scores last night at Bletchingdon last night - I am sure Pete or Mark has them, I think we won nearly as many prizes in the darts raffle as games

Perhaps prior to the draws being done, a list of entrants for each competition could be posted to act as a reminder for any late entries or more importantly, prompt people to shout when they have been missed off.

Tony - we are playing the plough next week And we are home to the Lion...anything can happen Keith...it's bar billiards!! I witnessed that first hand last night when I subbed in for Dave G team, watching Dave beat Geoff, not once but twice on the Glads table!

Keith 1 - Jon 2, played last night. Best opportunity to beat Jon squandered, finally got a decent break after the match was lost in the 3rd !
